Prevalencia de caries dental y factores familiares en ni?os escolares de Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

Abstract: objective describing the prevalence and severity of caries in schoolchildren attending the john f. kennedy school in cartagena and its relationship to family factors. methods this was a cross-sectional descriptive study of 243 students. dental caries prevalence was evaluated by dmft and ceo-d index; caries severity was measured by using icdas ii 2005 criteria and family variables were ascertained by filling out a questionnaire that included the family apgar (adaptation, partnership, growth, affection and resolve) for measuring family functioning. descriptive statistics were used when analysing relationships and the chi-square test was used for variables. results caries prevalence was 51 % (45-95 59 %ci). it was shown that 38 % (31-44 95 %ci) of parents had reached secondary school (but not completed it), 44 % (39-54 95 %ci) were living with a partner, 47 % (40-53 95 %ci) had low socioeconomic status, 53 % (47-57 95 %ci) were living in nuclear families, 47 % (41-53 95 %ci) were receiving less than minimum wage income, 66 % (58-70 95 %ci) were affiliated to the government health system and 59 % (52-66 95 %ci) were living in dysfunctional families. bivariate analysis only revealed statistical significance regarding the fathers incomplete secondary schooling and the presence of dental caries (p=0.04). conclusions even though most variables showed no statistical significance regarding explaining the presence of dental caries, they did provide epidemiologically important indicators which would facilitate decisions being made from a public health standpoint.

Abstract: Notre recherche sur l'organisation interactionnelle des consultations infirmières en pédiatrie nous a permis d'identifier une pratique qui consiste pour l'infirmière à parler au bébé pour critiquer un comportement de la mère. Mobilisant une approche conversationnelle multimodale, cet article montre que l'infirmière et la mère se coordonnent subtilement dans le déploiement séquentiel de cette pratique faisant du bébé l'instrument de leur communication. Il met également en rapport ce comportement avec la diversité de contraintes médicales, interactionnelles et relationnelles que les participants à la consultation se manifestent et cherchent à concilier. A practice of criticism’s management in pediatric nursing consultationsOur research on the interactional organization of pediatric nursing consultations allowed us to identify a practice that consist in the nurse talking to that baby in order to criticize behavior of the mother. Mobilizing a multimodal conversational approach, this paper shows that the nurse and the mother subtly coordinate themselves to a sequential deployment of this practice that makes the baby an instrument of their communication. It also compares this behavior with the diversity of the medical, interactional and relational constraints that participants in the consultation talk about and seek to reconcile. Un modo de organizar la crítica en la pediatría: comunicar por medio del bebéNuestra investigación sobre la organización interactiva de las consultas de enfermeras pediátricas nos ha permitido identificar una práctica que consiste en que la enfermera hable al bebé para criticar el comportamiento de la madre. Utilizando una aproximación multimodal, este artículo describe como la enfermera y la madre se pone sutilmente de acuerdo durante la consulta en la que el bebé es el instrumento mediatizado de la comunicación entre dos adultos. Pone igualmente en relación este comportamiento con la diversidad de dificultades de índole médica, interactivas y relacionales que los participantes de la consulta intentan resolver.

Abstract: This article presents a reflection as well as an alternative reading regarding the concept of educational justice in order to support educational innovations about a new conception of social justice for all the identities and subjects who participate in such a process. This proposal involves adapting Nancy Fraser’s approach and its tridimensional model of justice to make a critical approach. Such an approach would make it possible to redefine the mision and vision of education regarding social justice. In doing so, it is aimed to create new conceptualizations to modify institutions and social structures. Finally, it must be said that new answers to currenteducational needs can emerge from those conceptualizations.
Sympathetic cooling of fluorine atoms with ultracold atomic hydrogen

Abstract: We consider the prospect of using ultracold hydrogen atoms for sympathetic cooling of fluorine atoms to microkelvin temperatures. We carry out quantum-mechanical calculations on collisions between cold F and H atoms in magnetically trappable states and show that the ratio of elastic to inelastic cross sections remains high across a wide range of temperatures and magnetic fields. For F atoms initially in the spin-stretched state ($^2$P$_{3/2}$, $f=m_f=+2$), sympathetic cooling appears likely to succeed from starting temperatures around 1 K or even higher. This occurs because inelastic collisions are suppressed by p-wave and d-wave barriers that are 600 mK and 3.2 K high, respectively. In combination with recent results on H + NH and H + OH collisions [M. L. Gonz\'alez-Mart\'{\i}nez and J. M. Hutson, arXiv:1305.6282 (2013)], this establishes ultracold H atoms as a very promising and versatile coolant for atoms and molecules that cannot be laser-cooled.
The effect of hyperfine interactions on ultracold molecular collisions: NH(^3Sigma^-) with Mg(^1S) in magnetic fields

Abstract: We investigate the effect of hyperfine interactions on ultracold molecular collisions in magnetic fields, using ^{24}Mg(^1S) + ^{14}NH(^3Sigma^-) as a prototype system. We explore the energy and magnetic field dependence of the cross sections, comparing the results with previous calculations that neglected hyperfine interactions (Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 183201 (2009)). The main effect of hyperfine interactions for spin relaxation cross sections is that the kinetic energy release of the dominant outgoing channels does not reduce to zero at low fields. This results in reduced centrifugal suppression on the cross sections and increased inelastic cross sections at low energy and low field. We also analyze state-to-state cross sections, for various initial states, and show that hyperfine interactions introduce additional mechanisms for spin relaxation. In particular, there are hyperfine-mediated collisions to outgoing channels that are not centrifugally suppressed. However, for Mg+NH these unsuppressed channels make only small contributions to the total cross sections. We consider the implications of our results for sympathetic cooling of NH by Mg and conclude that the ratio of elastic to inelastic cross sections remains high enough for sympathetic cooling to proceed.
Magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances in Li+Er

Abstract: We explore the magnetic Feshbach spectra of ultracold ground-state Li+Er systems. Our calculations predict many tunable resonances at fields below 1000 G that could be stably tuned in ultracold experiments. We show that Li+Er spectra are much less congested than those of systems involving heavier highly-magnetic atoms and exhibit non-chaotic properties. These features would facilitate identifying and addressing individual resonances. We derive a simple model for the mass-scaling shifting of low-field resonances that may simplify designing experiments with different Er bosonic isotopes. Our work establishes Li+Er as very promising systems for quantum simulation, precision measurements and the formation of polar paramagnetic molecules.
Magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances in Li + Yb($^3P_J$)

Abstract: We have investigated magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances arising from the interaction of Li($^2S$) with metastable Yb($^3P_2$) and ($^3P_0$). For Yb($^3P_2$), all the resonance features are strongly suppressed by inelastic collisions that produce Yb in its lower-lying $^3P_1$ and $^3P_0$ states. For Yb($^3P_0$), sharp resonances exist but they are extremely narrow (widths less than 1 mG).

Abstract: The effect of isochronal heat treatments for 1h on variation of damping, hardness and microstructural change of the magnesium wrought alloy AZ61 was investigated. Damping and hardness behaviour could be attributed to the evolution of precipitation process. The influence of precipitation on damping behaviour was explained in the framework of the dislocation string model of Granato and Lücke.
Anaerobic prefermentation and primary sedimentation of wastewater in a sequencing batch reactor

Abstract: This research was carried out with the aim of evaluating the solubilisation and acidification capacity of fermenting organisms in suspension in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR), which had a volume of 1 800 . Using 8 h cycles with 340 min of anaerobic reaction time, the wastewater fed to the SBR presented an average of total and dissolved COD of 315 and 230 mg/ . The experiment was divided into three phases: In Phase 1 the organic load was decreased from 1.46 to 0.27 kgCOD/kgTSS·d, as total COD, during a period of 154 d. If the acidification is defined as the fraction of organic substrate that is transformed to volatile fatty acids (VFA) then the highest acidification percentage (80%) of the dissolved COD (CODD) was obtained for the organic load runs of between 0.62 and 0.72 kgCOD/kgTSS·d. Within this range of organic load the 2nd and 3rd experimental phases were achieved at the same time after 130 d while the pH and temperature were the control parameters: pH from 5.5 to 7.5 and temperature from 22 to 31oC. Finally, the higher production level of the dissolved COD during the fermentative reaction period was 35 mg/ . The acidification of the dissolved influent COD was increased from 50 to 60% by decreasing the pH from 7.0 to 5.5 and this percentage was doubled from 33 to 66% when the temperature was increased from 22 to 31oC. All of the dissolved effluent COD was in the form of VFA, when an organic load of 0.62 kgCOD/kgTSS·d was used or when the temperature was increased up to 31oC. The VFA production rate that was achieved after 80 min diminished by half when the solids retention time (SRT) was decreased from 8 to 2 d or when the temperature was lowered from 31 to 24oC.
