Abstract: The same frequency earthquake precursor information recored by many stations before earthquake can be got with wavelet analysis. A new earthquake prediction method procursor focus positioning method is formed by combing ball type theoretical source model. By making the review examination to the seven strong earthquakes which occurred in Yunnan province since 1995, it is found that the results are affirmative.
Blood-Based Gene Expression Profiles Models for Classification of Subsyndromal Symptomatic Depression and Major Depressive Disorder

Abstract: Subsyndromal symptomatic depression (SSD) is a subtype of subthreshold depressive and also lead to significant psychosocial functional impairment as same as major depressive disorder (MDD). Several studies have suggested that SSD is a transitory phenomena in the depression spectrum and is thus considered a subtype of depression. However, the pathophysioloy of depression remain largely obscure and studies on SSD are limited. The present study compared the expression profile and made the classification with the leukocytes by using whole-genome cRNA microarrays among drug-free first-episode subjects with SSD, MDD, and matched controls (8 subjects in each group). Support vector machines (SVMs) were utilized for training and testing on candidate signature expression profiles from signature selection step. Firstly, we identified 63 differentially expressed SSD signatures in contrast to control (P< = 5.0E-4) and 30 differentially expressed MDD signatures in contrast to control, respectively. Then, 123 gene signatures were identified with significantly differential expression level between SSD and MDD. Secondly, in order to conduct priority selection for biomarkers for SSD and MDD together, we selected top gene signatures from each group of pair-wise comparison results, and merged the signatures together to generate better profiles used for clearly classify SSD and MDD sets in the same time. In details, we tried different combination of signatures from the three pair-wise compartmental results and finally determined 48 gene expression signatures with 100% accuracy. Our finding suggested that SSD and MDD did not exhibit the same expressed genome signature with peripheral blood leukocyte, and blood cell–derived RNA of these 48 gene models may have significant value for performing diagnostic functions and classifying SSD, MDD, and healthy controls.
ON BASIC STATE OF PRESENT-DAY CRUSTAL MOVEMENT DYNAMICS AND EARTHQUAKE PREDICTABILITY

Abstract: Applying self-organized theory of complex dynamics system,we have synthetically studied the observational results of present-day crustal movement from contemporary geodesy(GPS and earthquake crustal deformation)in recent 40 years.Because of "fixed point attractor","limit cycle attractor","tons attractor" and "strange attractor" dominating the dynamics system,present-day crustal movement presents the various dynamics states such as "stable state(dynamic balancing state)","period state","quasi-period state","chaos state" and "edge of chaos".The observation results show that not only plate,block,boundary zone,fault zone but also speed field,stress field all over present the accordance of present-day crustal movement in several years or tens scales with those in neotectonics of million year scales as a whole.After transient state process(earthquake,etc)having occurred,present-day crustal movement(the changing process with time,the space distribution and the structure of spectrum)will return to "stable steady state(dynamic balancing state)" voluntarily.The observation results prove that the"fixed point attractor " exists really and it keeps the crustal movement system at "stable steady state"(dynamic balancing state),"self-organized stability".But Self-organized criticality(SOC)is a kind of weak chaos nature:"edge of chaos"(non-stable steady state),appearing only in the specific space-time region in specific stage at self organization process of crustal movement.

Abstract: 利用云南地区的跨断层形变观测资料,按动态灰箱法提取长趋势异常和突跳异常,再用蕴震系统信息合成方法进行合成,以达到群体异常的信息增益(即提高异常识别的可靠性).在此基础上,对12年来利用跨断层短水准和短基线观测资料所做的地震预测与实际发生地震的情况进行了检验.结果表明,年度预测准确率可达60%,证明基于跨断层形变测量异常的动态灰箱法与蕴震系统信息合成法是预测地震的有效方法.

Abstract: A new calculation method of VTEC(Vertical Total Electron Content) of the vertical space above fiducial station is presented, in which the single integer ambiguity and dual frequency observations are directly used to calculate VTEC. The result shows that the change tendency of the calculated VTEC is consistent with the provided data by IGS(International GNSS Service),and its inner precision is so good that can reflect the ionospheric activity in some extent.

Abstract: The quasi-solid-fluid phase transition of granular materials is closely related to the shear rate and solid concentration in addition to their intrinsic properties. The contact duration and the coordination number are two important temporal-spatial parameters to describe the granular interaction in phase transition. In this study, characteristics of the contact duration and the coordination number associated with the transition processes are determined using a 3D discrete element model under different shear rates and concentrations. The resulting macroscopic stress and strain-rate relations are discussed. The temporal and spatial parameters provide a linkage between the macroscopic constitutive law and interparticle micromechanics.

Paleo-environmental study on the growth of magnetotactic bacteria and precipitation of magnetosomes in Chinese loess-paleosol sequences

Abstract: 405 samples were collected from L5-S5-L6 in consideration of obvious variations in susceptibility of the geological sections, which are section Xifeng in Gansu Province and section Duanjiapo in Shaanxi Province for study of magnetotactic bacteria (MB) and magnetosomes (MS) in Chinese loess-paleosol sequences. MB in each sample were observed by TEM after being cultured under 8–18°C., room temperature (RT), 25°C., 26°C and 30°C conditions. In general, MB are distributed widely in loess-paleosol sequences, fewer in loess layers with predomination of vibriod in shape. However, there are more MB in paleosol layers with morphological varieties such as roddish, vibriod and occasionally approximately coccus. The magnetosomes (MS) in MB of paleosol are usually arranged in chains along the cells. It was also found that MB growth and MS formation are associated with the environment in which MB live. It can be inferred from the distributions of MB and MS that the paleoclimates fluctuated during the formation of loess-paleosol sequences in the Chinese Loess Plateau. The climate became gradually warmer but displayed more frequent fluctuations from the northwest to the southeast of the Plateau.

Abstract: 试样用Na_2O_2在520°—540℃下熔融,熔物用水浸出。通过阳极电流强度,载气压力及观察高度的对比实验,选出最佳工作条件的参数:阳流为0.90A,载压为2kg/cm~2,观测高度为8mm,用GSD及GSS标准样对测量精度及回收率进行了检查,相对偏差为13.6%,回收率为93%,检测限为10ppm。采用ICP法测定硼,方法简便快速,准确度高,岩石中的硼高于10ppm时,可以进行定量测定。
Withaferin A Synergizes the Therapeutic Effect of Doxorubicin through ROS-Mediated Autophagy in Ovarian Cancer

Abstract: Application of doxorubicin (Dox) for the treatment of cancer is restricted due to its severe side effects. We used combination strategy by combining doxorubicin (Dox) with withaferin A (WFA) to minimize the ill effects of Dox. Treatment of various epithelial ovarian cancer cell lines (A2780, A2780/CP70 and CaOV3) with combination of WFA and Dox (WFA/DOX) showed a time- and dose-dependent synergistic effect on inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of cell death, thus reducing the dosage requirement of Dox. Combination treatment resulted in a significant enhancement of ROS production resulting in immense DNA damage, induction of autophagy analyzed by transmission electron microscope and increase in expression of autophagy marker LC3B, and culminated in cell death analyzed by cleaved caspase 3. We validated combination therapy on tumor growth using an in vitro 3Dimension (3D) tumor model and the more classic in vivo xenograft model of ovarian cancer. Both tumor models showed a 70 to 80% reduction in tumor growth compared to control or animals treated with WFA or Dox alone. Immunohistochemical analysis of the tumor tissues from animals treated with WFA/Dox combination showed a significant reduction in cell proliferation and formation of microvessels accompanied by increased in LC3B level, cleaved caspase 3, and DNA damage. Taken together, our data suggest that combining WFA with Dox decreases the dosage requirement of Dox, therefore, minimizing/eliminating the severe side effects associated with high doses of DOX, suggesting the application of this combination strategy for the treatment of ovarian and other cancers with no or minimum side effects.
