Abstract: Geographical imbalance of China’s processing trade industries has become increasingly prominent in recent years. Chinese industrial gradient situations can be estimated by industrial gradient coefficient. The transferred industries between high-gradient region and low-gradient region are decided by industrial concentration index. Based on the analysis, this article proposes the countermeasures for promoting the transferring of China’s processing trade industries.

The Bauhaus, one of the most prestigious colleges of fine arts, was founded in 1919 by the architect Walter Gropius. Although it is closed in the last century, its influence is still manifested in design industries now and will continue to spread its principles to designers and artists. Even, it has a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, fashion design and design education. Up until now, Bauhaus ideal has always been a controversial focus that plays a crucial role in the field of design. Not only emphasizing function but also reflecting the human-oriented idea could be the greatest progress on modern design and manufacturing. Even more, harmonizing the relationship between nature and human is the ultimate goal for all the designers to create their artworks. This essay will analyze Bauhaus’s influence on modern design and manufacturing in terms of technology, architecture and design education.

Reconstruct the Heat Conduction Model with Memory Dependent Derivative  [PDF]

The classical heat conduction equation is derived from the assumption that the temperature increases immediately after heat transfer, but the increase of temperature is a slow process, so the memory-dependent heat conduction model has been reconstructed. Numerical results show that the solution of the initial boundary value problem of the new model is similar to that of the classical heat conduction equation, but its propagation speed is slower than that of the latter. In addition, the propagation speed of the former is also affected by time delay and kernel function.

Abstract: Delay discounting is an important part of intertemporal decision-making. This decision involves information about the costs and benefits of future possibilities, which affect people making decision. Episodic foresight therefore has a capacity to organize current action in view of anticipated events and concerns the imaginative of thinking about future events that often draw on the visual modality. In the clinic research, episodic foresight could improve maladaptive behaviors, including pathological gambling, obesity, drug and alcohol abuse. Our study explores the psychological mechanism and brain mechanism. We proposed that future research should further explore how the episodic foresight affects delay discounting and how episodic foresight is applied to clinic and behaviour modification.
Magnolia polyphenols attenuate oxidative and inflammatory responses in neurons and microglial cells

Abstract: Background The bark of magnolia has been used in Oriental medicine to treat a variety of remedies, including some neurological disorders. Magnolol (Mag) and honokiol (Hon) are isomers of polyphenolic compounds from the bark of Magnolia officinalis, and have been identified as major active components exhibiting anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. In this study, we investigate the ability of these isomers to suppress oxidative stress in neurons stimulated by the ionotropic glutamate receptor agonist N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and oxidative and inflammatory responses in microglial cells activated by interferon-γ (IFNγ) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). We also attempt to elucidate the mechanism and signaling pathways involved in cytokine-induced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in microglial cells. Methods Dihydroethidium (DHE) was used to assay superoxide production in neurons, while CM-H2DCF-DA was used to test for ROS production in murine (BV-2) and rat (HAPI) immortalized microglial cells. NADPH oxidase inhibitors (for example, diphenyleneiodonium (DPI), AEBSF, and apocynin) and immunocytochemistry targeting p47phox and gp91phox were used to assess the involvement of NADPH oxidase. Western blotting was used to assess iNOS and ERK1/2 expression, and the Griess reaction protocol was employed to determine nitric oxide (NO) concentration. Results Exposure of Hon and Mag (1–10 μM) to neurons for 24 h did not alter neuronal viability, but both compounds (10 μM) inhibited NMDA-stimulated superoxide production, a pathway known to involve NADPH oxidase. In microglial cells, Hon and Mag inhibited IFNγ±LPS-induced iNOS expression, NO, and ROS production. Studies with inhibitors and immunocytochemical assay further demonstrated the important role of IFNγ activating the NADPH oxidase through the p-ERK-dependent pathway. Hon and, to a lesser extent, Mag inhibited IFNγ-induced p-ERK1/2 and its downstream pathway for ROS and NO production. Conclusion This study highlights the important role of NADPH oxidase in mediating oxidative stress in neurons and microglial cells and has unveiled the role of IFNγ in stimulating the MAPK/ERK1/2 signaling pathway for activation of NADPH oxidase in microglial cells. Hon and Mag offer anti-oxidative or anti-inflammatory effects, at least in part, through suppressing IFNγ-induced p-ERK1/2 and its downstream pathway.
Turbulence Mitigation Scheme for Optical Communications using Orbital Angular Momentum Multiplexing Based on Channel Coding and Wavefront Correction

Abstract: The free-space optical (FSO) communication links with orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing have been demonstrated that they can largely enhance the systems' capacity without a corresponding increase in spectral bandwidth, but the performance of the system is unavoidably disturbed by atmospheric turbulence (AT). Different from the existed AT disturbance, the OAM-multiplexed systems will cause both the burst and random errors for a single OAM state carrier and the `crosstalk' interference between the different OAM states carriers. In this paper, we propose a turbulence mitigation method to improve AT tolerance of OAM-multiplexed FSO communication links. In the proposed scheme, we use channel codes to correct the burst and random errors caused by AT for a single OAM state carrier; And we use wavefront correction method to correct the `crosstalk' interference between the different OAM states carriers. The improvements of AT tolerance are discussed by comparing the performance of OAM-multiplexed FSO communication links with or without channel coding or Shark-Hartmann wavefront correction method. The numerical simulation results show that the OAM-multiplexed FSO communication links have enhanced their AT tolerance. The usage of channel codes and wavefront correction methods together has improved greatly the performance of OAM-multiplexed FSO communication links over atmospheric turbulence.
A Power Allocation Scheme Using Updated SLNR Value Based on Perturbation Theory  [PDF]

Abstract: The performance of downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellular networks is limited by co-channel interference (CCI). In this paper, we propose a linear precoding scheme based on signal-to-leakage-and-noise ratio (SLNR) criteria which can reduce the CCI significantly. Since each user’s SLNR value is corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of the generalized matrix which indicates the channel quality that we propose a scheme to do a dynamic power allocation as an auxiliary way to improve SLNR precoding scheme. We use the perturbation theory to update each user’s SLNR value each time step in time-varying channels rather than directly decompose the channel matrix so as to reduce the amount of calculation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme offers about 0.3 bps/Hz additional capacity gain and 0.5 dB BER gain over conventional SLNR precoding method with lower computational complexity. And it also obtains about 0.5 bps/Hz additional capacity gain and 1 dB BER gain compared to the scheme only update the preceding vectors.

Language clusters based on linguistic complex networks

Abstract: To investigate the feasibility of using complex networks in the study of linguistic typology, this paper builds and explores 15 linguistic complex networks based on the dependency syntactic treebanks of 15 languages. The results show that it is possible to classify human languages by means of the following main parameters of complex networks: (a) average degree of the node, (b) cluster coefficients, (c) average path length, (d) network centralization, (e) diameter, (f) power exponent of degree distribution, and (g) the determination coefficient of power law distributions. The precision of this method is similar to the results achieved by means of modern word order typology. This paper tries to solve two problems of current linguistic typology. First, the language sample of a typological study is not real text; second, typological studies pay too much attention to local language structures in the course of choosing typological parameters. This study performs better in global typological features of language and not only enhances typological methods, but it is also valuable for developing the applications of complex networks in the humanities, social, and life sciences.
