Movimento , 2009,

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2014.513211
Abstract:

One of the methods to determine the tolerance of plants to water stress is the observation of germination of seeds under stress induced in laboratory conditions. Thus, the aim was to evaluate the response of four common bean cultivars to water deficit simulated under laboratory conditions. Two common landrace genotypes acquired from farmers (FORT 07 and FORT 08) and two commercial cultivars, IAPAR 81 and Serrano were evaluated. The different levels of water deficit were induced with mannitol solution. The experimental design was completely randomized and a factorial scheme 5 × 4 (osmotic potential x genotypes), with four replications. The characteristics: primary root protrusion, seed vigor, normal and abnormal seedling, seedling and root length, fresh and dry weight of seedling and root were evaluated. By reducing the osmotic potential seedling vigor bean was more affected than the primary root protrusion. Regardless of cultivar, there was a significant and progressive reduction in the normal seedlings percentage from potential -0.3 MPa. The IAPAR 81 and FORT 07 cultivars showed higher tolerance to water deficit compared to other cultivars.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the overall myenteric neurons population from the duodenum of adult streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats supplemented with ascorbic acid (aa), a potent antioxidant. fifteen 90-day-old rats were divided in groups: control (c), diabetic (d), diabetic treated with ascorbic acid (da). after 120 days of experimental period duodenums were resected and processed as whole-mount preparations according to giemsa's technique, which allowed us to evaluate neuronal density in an area of 8.96 mm2 and measure the area of 500 neuronal cell bodies per group. it was observed a 32.55% reduction in neuronal density of group d when compared to group c (p<0.05). the density of spared neurons in group da, in relation to group d, was not statistically different in this experimental model. no significant differences were found in neuronal areas when groups c and d or group d and da were compared (p>0.05). these results lead us to conclude that the density of overall myenteric neurons population from the duodenum was reduced in diabetic rats (d), when compared to its control (c); and that diabetic rats supplemented with aa (da) did not have their neuronal density preserved when compared to diabetic animals (d).

These results lead us to conclude that the density of overall myenteric neurons population from the duodenum was reduced in diabetic rats (D), when compared to its control (C); and that diabetic rats supplemented with AA (DA) did not have their neuronal density preserved when compared to diabetic animals (D).

In this article we brought results from an investigation with elementary school teachers in a mathematics study group. This longitudinal two-year case study is characterized as a qualitative research with humanistic perspective. Our aim herein is to show some learning of two teachers in terms of mathematical knowledge and pedagogical mathematical knowledge generated from the dynamics of the study group. Data were collected in the weekly group meetings and during classes which the researchers observed or participated. In this group, the teachers respected each other, listened and were listened in their victories and anxieties, gave opinion, proposed ideas and contributed for the construction of different knowledge. This behavior influenced the teachers’ learning and attitudes towards mathematics, and this resonated in their classroom practices. We got evidences of improvement and learning of two sorts of knowledge: of mathematics content and of pedagogical mathematics. From the mathematical content knowledge learned we highlight problem solving involving the four operations. And from the pedagogical mathematical knowledge we highlight what was evidence
