Chinese Teachers’ Emotion Regulation Goals and Strategies  [PDF]

This study aimed to explore Chinese teachers’ emotion regulation goals and strategies used before, in, and after classroom teaching. Thirty-four teachers from elementary, middle and high schools were interviewed with semi-structure questionnaire. Chinese teachers’ goals for regulating emotions included achieving instructional goals, decreasing the negative impact of emotions on student learning, confirming the professional and ethical norms, maintaining teachers’ and students’ mental health, keeping positive emotional images, and nurturing good teacher-student relationships. Teachers used various antecedent-focused and response-focused strategies to control their emotions before, in, and after class. In general, Chinese teachers used response-modulation most frequently, followed by cognitive changes in and after classroom teaching. These findings have implications for productive delivery of education service, teacher training and policy-making.

Abstract: Patriotism is a kind of emotion, will, thought theory and behavior as a whole. The reaction of the complex relationship between individuals and country value system is formed in the process of social history, and it is developed and consolidated in the process of the history of human society, it is a kind of thought and feeling of loyalty and love their motherland. Under the background of contemporary economic globalization, some people that carry forward the patriotism produce confusion even think patriotism has become less important. From the perspective of the development of China and the world, this paper makes researches on contemporary value of patriotism, patriotism is of realistic significance on safeguarding national sovereignty and interests, and helps to achieve the China dream, deal with complex international environmental challenges, and participate in the international competition.

Abstract: The relationship between bilingualism and cognitive development is an important problem in which psychologists are concerned. The review begins with the concept of bilingualism and introduces several classifications of bilingualism. Then the paper reviews researches on the relationship between bilingualism and cognitive development and the relation between bilingualism and metalinguistic awareness, evaluates the relevant interpretation theory and the inner mechanism of bilingualism advantage. Finally, the review evaluates previous research and raised some questions which need to be resolved in the future.

Abstract: The vocabulary learning is one of very important part in the college English teaching. Correct analysis of the result of vocabulary strategy instruction can offer feedbacks for English teaching, and help teachers to improve the teaching method. In this article, the issue how to use SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) to scientifically statistically analyze the vocabulary test achievements is discussed, and the research result can offer instructive feedback opinions for the vocabulary teaching.

Abstract: Reliability and validity of Inventory of Piaget's Developmental Test is revised. 390 subjects from primary school in Beijing are tested. Results show that this inventory (IPDT)'s reliability, validity, difficulty and discriminant ability are acceptable, and it is appropriate to be used to diagnose primary-school children's level of cognitive development. The inventory's applicable scope, existing problem and needs of future research are discussed.
Effect of Carboxymethyl Cellulose and Alginate Coating Combined with Brewer Yeast on Postharvest Grape Preservation

Abstract: The effect of carboxymethyl cellulose and alginate coating combined with brewer yeast on postharvest grape preservation was investigated. The postharvest grapes were coated with 2% of alginate and 3% of carboxymethyl cellulose combined with ?CFU/mL of brewer yeast. The combined treatment samples showed good sensory character on day 13 compared with control samples or only coated samples. The increase of weight loss and decrease of total soluble solids of combined treatment grapes were restrained. Furthermore, the protective enzymes including superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase of combined treatment sample showed higher activities. Accordingly, the increase of malonaldehyde content was also restrained and more vitamin C was preserved in combined treatment samples. At day 13, the weight loss rate and the total soluble solids of grape treated with coating + yeast were 23.6% lower and 20.6% higher than those of control samples, respectively. Coating grapes with 2% of alginate and 3% of carboxymethyl cellulose combined with brewer yeast of ?CFU/mL was a well-proven method to preserve postharvest grapes. 1. Introduction In recent years, conventional production systems of fruits and vegetables have been characterized by an excessive use of chemical compounds during pre- and postharvest treatments. The grape is a highly perishable nonclimacteric fruit with reduced shelf-life due to decay, weight loss, and nutrient degradation during the storage time. It is traditionally treated with different chemical products such as SO2 to control the main postharvest pathogen [1]. Nevertheless, new consumer trends and subsequent legislative changes demand healthier, environmentally friendly food production systems. Edible films can be used to protect perishable food products from deterioration by retarding dehydration, providing a selective barrier to moisture, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, suppressing respiration, improving textural quality, helping to retain volatile flavor compounds, and reducing microbial growth [2]. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is the most important water-soluble cellulose derivative, with many applications in the food industry and in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and so forth [3]. Alginate, a polysaccharide derived from marine brown algae, has been preponderant in making edible films due to its unique colloidal properties and its ability to form strong gels or insoluble polymers upon reaction with multivalent metal cations such as calcium [4]. RAAP: A Requirements Analysis and Assessment Process Framework for Component-Based System (Invited Paper)

Abstract: Success of a Component Based System (CBS) depends heavily on the selection of the right components. In reality, components are usually designed for general purposes and finding the ideal ones is often very difficult. The CBS requirements process is hence more complicated than the conventional approach. In this paper, we present a Requirements Analysis and Assessment Process (RAAP) for CBS that can provide quantitative information and guidelines for stakeholders to evaluate the suitability of the components for a given set of requirements. Subsequently, they will be able to select the most appropriate components that best satisfy their needs, taking into consideration the risks involved and the conflicts that could arise as a result of selecting certain components earlier in the process. RAAP consists of three phases: (i) requirements characterization which elicits user requirements; (ii) top-down analysis which calculates the degree of satisfaction of a component and the amount of risks involved; and (iii) trade-off analysis which identifies and resolves the potential conflicts in requirements after certain components have been selected. We also present an application of RAAP to the Seven Eleven Japan system.
Carbon Monoxide Fumigation Improved the Quality, Nutrients, and Antioxidant Activities of Postharvest Peach

Abstract: Peaches (Prunus persica cv. Yanhong) were fumigated with carbon monoxide (CO) at 0, 0.5, 5, 10, and 20?μmol/L for 2 hours. The result showed that low concentration CO (0.5–10?μmol/L) might delay the decrease of firmness and titrable acid content, restrain the increase of decay incidence, and postpone the variation of soluble solids content, but treating peaches with high concentration CO (20?μmol/L) demonstrated adverse effects. Further research exhibited that exogenous CO could induce the phenylalnine ammonialyase activity, maintain nutrient contents such as Vitamin C, total flavonoid, and polyphenol, and enhance antioxidant activity according to reducing power and 2,2-diphenyl-1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl) hydrazyl radical scavenging activity. Treating peaches with appropriate concentration CO was beneficial to the quality, nutrients, and antioxidant activity of postharvest peaches during storage time. Therefore, CO fumigation might probably become a novel method to preserve postharvest peach and other fruits in the future. 1. Introduction Peach is one of the most well-liked fruits in the world because of their flavor, dietary value, attractive color, and medicinal worth. It is enriched with ascorbic acid, flavonoid, and phenolic compounds, which were considered prime sources for antioxidants [1, 2]. However, peaches have a very short shelf life because they are highly susceptible to pathogenic infection and physiological deterioration during storage time under ambient temperature. Cold storage remains the main method to slow the product deterioration in terms of consumer perception and nutritional value. However, low temperature results in chilling injury symptoms in some peach cultivars during or after cold storage [3, 4]. Chemical treatments have been used to prevent insect attack and prolong shelf life of postharvest peach. However, the use of chemicals has been minimized for food safety and environmental reasons. Many physical methods including modified atmosphere packaging, heat, and UV-C pretreatments are being extensively studied as substitutes for current chemical methods in the commercial applications of peach [5–8].
