Abstract: Simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of diacerein and aceclofenac was performed by partial least-squares (PLS) and principal component regression (PCR) methods do not require any priori graphical treatment of the overlapping spectra of two drugs in the mixture. The absorbance values in the UV-Vis spectra were measured for the 67 wavelength points (from 234-300) in the spectral region 200–400 nm considering the intervals of 1 nm. The calibration range was found to be 1-5 μg/ml for diacerein, 2-10 μg/ml for aceclofenac with a correlation coefficient of 0.9998(PLS), 0.9995(PCR) for diacerein and 0.9999 (PLS), 0.9997 (PCR) for aceclofenac. The validation of the multivariate methods was realized by analyzing the synthetic mixtures of diacerein and aceclofenac. The numerical calculations were performed with the ‘Unscrambler 10.1 X’ software. The chemometrics analysis methods were satisfactorily applied to the simultaneous determination of diacerein and aceclofenac in the pharmaceutical formulation.

Application of integrated yoga therapy to increase imitation skills in children with autism spectrum disorder
Radhakrishna Shantha
International Journal of Yoga , 2010,
Abstract: Background/Aim: Children with autism exhibit significant deficits in imitation skills, which impede the acquisition of more complex behavior and socialization. Imitation is often targeted early in intervention plans and continues to be addressed throughout the child′s treatment. The use of integrated approach to yoga therapy (IAYT) as a complementary therapy for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is rarely reported and little is known on the effectiveness of such therapies. This study investigated IAYT as a treatment method with children with ASD to increase imitative skills. Materials and Methods: Parents and six children with ASD participated in a 10-month program of 5-weekly sessions and regular practice at home. Pre, mid and post treatment assessments included observers and parent ratings of children′s imitation skills in tasks related to imitation skills such as gross motor actions, vocalization, complex imitation, oral facial movements and imitating breathing exercises. Results: Improvement in children′s imitation skills especially pointing to body, postural and oral facial movements. Parents reported change in the play pattern of these children with toys, peers and objects at home. Conclusions: This study indicates that IAYT may offer benefits as an effective tool to increase imitation, cognitive skills and social-communicative behaviors in children with ASD. In addition, children exhibited increased skills in eye contact, sitting tolerance, non-verbal communication and receptive skills to verbal commands related to spatial relationship.

Cutaneous lymphomas are classified as B cell and T cell lymphomas which are seen very rarely. They present as papules or nodules in the absence of any extracutaneous involvement. We present a patient who had a diffuse cutaneous B cell lymphoma and review literature of this uncommon tumour.

Olecranon bursal involvement due to tuberculosis is not often seen in literature. Involvement is often seen in the subdeltoid and trochanteric bursa, with concomitant skeletal involvement. We report a patient with isolated tuberculous granuloma of the olecranon bursa with no comorbid illness.

Note on Three Classes of Data Grid Operations  [PDF]

Traditional grid computing focuses on the movement of data to compute resources and the management of large scale simulations. Data grid computing focuses on moving the operations to the storage location and on operations on data collections. We present three types of data grid operations that facilitate data driven research: the manipulation of time series data, the reproducible execution of workflows, and the mapping of data access to software-defined networks. These data grid operations have been implemented as operations on collections within the NSF DataNet Federation Consortium project. The operations can be applied at the remote resource where data are stored, improving the ability of researchers to interact with large collections.

Abstract: A knowledge of the embryology and descent of the testes is essential for all clinicians. Congenital hydrocoele, though an embryologic anomaly can present in adulthood. A abdomino scrotal hydrocole must be considered when a mass in the lower abdomen co exists with a scrotal hydrocoele.
Varicella and Fournier′s gangrene

Indian Journal of Dermatology , 2007,
Abstract: Fournier′s gangrene is the necrotizing fasciitis of the scrotum and the perineum. The treatment involves early recognition, aggressive resuscitation, radical debridement and appropriate antibiotics. Even though its association with varicella is known to occur in children, it is found to be uncommon in adults. We present our findings and review literature regarding the associations, clinical presentations and management of Fournier′s gangrene.

Abstract: Among the folate compounds, 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (5-CH3THF) is regarded as one of the most bioactive forms of folate. It is regarded as the better source of folate to humans as compared to folic acid, a synthetic form of folate, which is used for fortifying foods to prevent the incidence of neural tube defects in the new born babies. The use of 5-CH3THF as an alternative fortificant, in place of folic acid, has been explored by various researchers. However, fortification of 5-CH3THF is problematic due to its lower stability. This study investigated the stability of microencapsulated 5-CH3THF in biscuits baked at various temperatures and times as well as changes in their physical properties. Microcapsule with pectin and alginate ratio of 80:20, prepared by spray drying, gave the highest retention (68.6%) of the 5-CH3THF, therefore, chosen for fortification. The encapsulated and unencapsulated 5-CH3THF were mixed separately with flour and biscuit ingredients and baked at 180℃, 200 and 220℃, each for 5, 9 and 12 min. The inclusion of encapsulated and unencapsulated 5-CH3THF in the biscuit formulation and subsequent baking at various temperatures and times resulted in retention of 5-CH3THF from 19.1% to 1.7%. Microencapsulation of 5-CH3THF slightly improved the retention of 5-CH3THF over unencapsuated biscuits at 180℃ for 5 min, but almost no such effect was achieved under baking temperatures of 200℃ and 220℃. Physical analysis showed darker colour, harder texture and lower moisture content for biscuits baked at higher test temperatures. It seems intense heating condition that caused “over baking” of the biscuit likely to be responsible for the loss of the vitamin as well as less desirable physical properties of the biscuits.
