Abstract: A mixed method of solution for contact stresses on rollers was suggested by the combina- tion of similitude principle.photoelastic method,Hertz's contact theory and numerical calculation.Thus,not only the distribution regularity of axial contact pressure on roller of limited length,but also the three-dimensional solution of stresses in the contact po- sitions may be obtained.An actual example is presented in the paper.It shows that the practical damaged phenomenon in real roller is in agreement with the result of the analysis

Abstract: The surface alloying specimen was made from the steel 45 substrate overcoating by oxygen-acetylene flame spraying Fe-Cr-Ni alloy powder and laser remelting.The chemical heterogeneity was clearly observed on the transition zone between the laser melted zone and heat-affected zone by means of EPMA,AES and SEM.This heterogeneity is rather serious during high temperature tempering,so the decarburization on the transition zone side and the recarburization on the melted zone side were found.

Abstract: The diffusion process of Sn in the transformation of Nb_6Sn_5 to Nb_3Sn has been studied.The experimental results show that the growth of Nb_3Sn laver is controlled by two processes,i.e. the short range diffusion of Sn which is responsihle for the inner layer with large grains,and the long,range diffusion of Sn which results in the outer layer with fine grains.It was found thai grain size depends on the reaction temperature.A model of Nb_3Sn growth based on the above processes was established and its solution was found to be in good agreement with ex- perimental results.

Abstract: Cyclic stress-strain responses and dislocation structure of copper single crystals with varioustensile axes were systematically studied and compared with each other.Experimental resultsreveal that the evolution of microscopic dislocation configurations in a crystal and,accordingly,its macroscopic cyclic behaviours are closely related with its orientation.Re-markable secondary slip has been observed in some crystals with orientations well inside thecrystallographic triangle, which are usually considered as single-slip ones.Their cycliobehaviours and dislocation structures at saturation are similar to those of their neighbouringmulti-slip crystals.These results have constructed the experimental basis for the newly pro-posed dislocation interaction model Jor cyclic deformation of fee crystals,which will be des-cribed in the second part of this article.

Abstract: The present paper gives a numerical simulation of hot sawing process by using elastic- plastic finite element method. The simulation is carried out for the moment from the beginning of deformation to the local yield in work piece. In order to treat the work hardening on deformation resistance, a correction of stress based on deformation rate is taken into consideration. The calculation results shows, there are two stress peaks both on the lower and upper sides ahead of the tooth tip during the elastic press stage, in which the displacement of tooth is below 0.735*10-6 cm. Following the push of saw tooth and rise of saw load, metal at the corner of filing reaches the yield point and a local plastic area appears,where metal shapes new filing part towards the free surface under the extrusion forces. Meanwhile the stress peaks ahead of tooth tip initial also yield regions. The displacement of saw tooth is between 0.735*10-6cm and 1.274*10-6cm in this stage. With the further push of the saw tooth, metal bounded to tooth tip is torn under the combination of tensile and sheer stress. The slide of metal and its local plastic flow form the extension of filing. Then the saw load rises no longer and static sawing procedure continues.

Abstract: Crystal structure of γ-Li_xFe_2O_3,inserted Li electrochemically,was studied by Moss-bauer spectroscopy together with X-ray diffraction,XPS and electrochemical method,Onthe insertion of Li at low current density,the crystal structure is keeping original spinel;while at higher current density or by thermal activation,owing to violent movement ofLi~+ ions,part of crystal structure transforms into rock type similar to face-centeredcubic structure of ferrous oxide.The transition channels during insertion of Li~+ ions andlimitation of Li~+ ions inserted were discussed.

Abstract: In this paper, the cross sectional microstructure and crystal structure of ion plated multi layer films of stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti ) were studied by cross sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM). The results show that ion plated stainless steel multi layer films are fine grained double phase steel films of austenites and ferrites.Cross section film growing microstructures can be divided into three zones: fine equiaxed crystals, fine columnar crystals and coarse columnar crystals. Interfaces in multi layer films can promote fine grained growing and interrupt columnar grained growing,and improve properties of film materials.

Abstract: The effect of proportional and non-proportional overloading on mode l fatigue crack growth have been studied,and the influences of crack tip plastic zone,crack tip blunting as well as crack closure were discussed.Proportional(model I)overloading may cause more serious crack growth retardation than non-proportional(mixed mode)overloading.Therefore,for estimating the fatigue life of engineering structures to simplify a real overload which may of- ten be non-proportional as a proportional one is not always safe.

Abstract: The constitution of high-caustic ratio and highly concentrated sodium aluminate solutions has been investigated by Raman spectra method.By comparison with the Raman spectra of crystalline solids of Ca_3Al(OH)_6]_2 and Ba_2Al_2(OH)_(10)],it can be concluded that AI(OH)_6~(3-)ion and perhaps its polymers may be formed in these solutions.

Abstract: An alloy steel pattern recognition expert system,ASPRES,has been established for thepurpose of computer aided optimal design of alloy steel in compositions and process pa-rameters,Pattern recognition techniques are used to abstract inner relationship betweenmechanical properties and process variables.The ASPRES uses 2-dimensional graph asvisual knowledge to represent domain expertise of specific object.Forward and back-ward chaining can be utilized by researcher in predicting sample performances or givinghelpful suggestions about the chemical compositions and process parameters accordingto desired properties.
