Abstract: The electrochemical behavior of pure titanium and titanium alloys in a simulated body fluid (normal saline solution) has been tested, and the results have been reported. The significance of the results for dental use has been discussed. The tests also serve as a screening test for the best alloy system for more comprehensive long-term investigations.

Abstract: ti-15mo alloy has been evaluated for its electrochemical behavior in phosphate buffer saline solution at the physiological temperature of 37 oc. a two time constant model of a duplex oxide layer has been used to assess the corrosion behavior of the ti-15mo alloy-solution interface using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (eis). interfacial characteristics of the inner barrier layer and the outer porous layer have been studied to understand the role of the alloy as an implant. ti-15mo alloy shows a very high barrier layer resistance and a tendency to resist localized corrosion.

TMJ Ankylosis: Multidisciplinary Approach of Treatment for Dentofacial Enhancement—A Case Report

Abstract: This report describes the multidisciplinary phasewise treatment of a 20-year-old female patient having unilateral right TMJ bony (true) ankylosis whose mouth opening was restricted to 2 mm and mandibular retrognathism; additionally, she was also suffering from speech problems, snoring, difficulty in breathing, and low level of self-esteem and self-confidence. Bilateral gap arthroplasty and temporalis myofascial graft interpositioning through preauricular approach were done in surgical phase followed by the aggressive jaw physiotherapy in postsurgical period. Oral prophylaxis and restorations were followed by the fixed orthodontic therapy to resolve bimaxillary protrusion. Advancement sliding genioplasty was performed to enhance the chin button. Speech therapy and psychological counseling were also performed from time to time to boost up the self-esteem and self-confidence. At the end of treatment, facial esthetics was improved considerably and patient got over the impact of disfigurement, impaired functions, and psychosocial stigma. Rationale to use the multidisciplinary team approach in treatment of such cases is discussed.
Automatization of Forest Fire Detection Using Geospatial Technique  [PDF]

Abstract:
Healthy forest is the vital resource to regulate climate at a regional and global level. Forest fire has been regarded as one of the major reasons for the loss of forest and degradation of the environment. Global warming is increasing its intensity at an alarming rate. Real-time fire detection is a necessity to avoid large scale losses. Remote sensing is a quick and cheap technique for detecting and monitoring forest fires on a large scale. Advance Very Radiometer Resolution (AVHRR) has been used already for a long period for fire detection. The use of Moderate Resolution Imaging Radio Spectrometer (MODIS) for fire detection has recently preceded AVHRR and a large number of fire products are being developed. MODIS based forest fire detection and monitoring system can solve the problem of real-time forest fire monitoring. The system facilitates data acquisition, processing, reporting and feedback on the fire location information in an automated manner. It provides location information at 1 × 1 kilometer resolution on the active fires which are present during the satellite overpass twice a day. The users are provided with the information on SMS alert with fire location details, email notification, and online visualization of fire locations on website automatically. The whole processes are automated and provide better accuracy for fire detection.
Twitter and Polls: Analyzing and estimating political orientation of Twitter users in India General #Elections2014

Abstract: This year (2014) in the month of May, the tenure of the 15th Lok Sabha was to end and the elections to the 543 parliamentary seats were to be held. A whooping $5 billion were spent on these elections, which made us stand second only to the US Presidential elections in terms of money spent. Swelling number of Internet users and Online Social Media (OSM) users could effect 3-4% of urban population votes as per a report of IAMAI (Internet & Mobile Association of India). Our count of tweets related to elections from September 2013 to May 2014, was close to 18.21 million. We analyzed the complete dataset and found that the activity on Twitter peaked during important events. It was evident from our data that the political behavior of the politicians affected their followers count. Yet another aim of our work was to find an efficient way to classify the political orientation of the users on Twitter. We used four different techniques: two were based on the content of the tweets, one on the user based features and another based on community detection algorithm on the retweet and user mention networks. We found that the community detection algorithm worked best. We built a portal to show the analysis of the tweets of the last 24 hours. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first academic pursuit to analyze the elections data and classify the users in the India General Elections 2014.
Memory Map: A Multiprocessor Cache Simulator

Abstract: Nowadays, Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) architectures are mainly focused on by manufacturers to provide increased concurrency, instead of increased clock speed, for embedded systems. However, managing concurrency is a tough task. Hence, one major issue is to synchronize concurrent accesses to shared memory. An important characteristic of any system design process is memory configuration and data flow management. Although, it is very important to select a correct memory configuration, it might be equally imperative to choreograph the data flow between various levels of memory in an optimal manner. Memory map is a multiprocessor simulator to choreograph data flow in individual caches of multiple processors and shared memory systems. This simulator allows user to specify cache reconfigurations and number of processors within the application program and evaluates cache miss and hit rate for each configuration phase taking into account reconfiguration costs. The code is open source and in java.

Abstract: The high speed penetration of Smartphone’s in the market with Android as the leading operating system makes the need for malware analysis on this platform an urgent and concerning issue. In our project we capitalize earlier approaches for dynamic analysis of location based and other suspicious permissions and classes which can cause vulnerability. Our framework has been demonstrated by analyzing the permissions those are vulnerable. Array list will be created on the basis of the permissions and names of classes, and then checked for vulnerabilities using automated approach and then assured through the manual cross checking for vulnerability.

Abstract: Since recent years the work on biological and metabolic network has been increasing due to the new biological discoveries andessential metabolites. Metabolomics being a burgeoning field, which produces voluminous data that, like other ‘omics’ data, should be seenas a resource that contributes specifically to the former half of an iterative cycle of hypothesis-generating and hypothesis- testing phases. Itis becoming increasingly apparent that our ability to generate large quantities of metabolomics or metabolic profiling data will help to openup many previously inaccessible areas of biology various high-throughput techniques are leading to an explosive growth in the size ofbiological databases and creating the opportunity to revolutionize our understanding of life and disease. Interpretation of these data remains,however, a major scientific challenge. With the study of enzymes and metabolites new pathways can be discovered, which can help in theanalysis of the various process taking place in the organism. In order to identify potential drug targets the concept of choke points was usedto find enzymes which uniquely consume or produce a particular metabolite. Hence the study of these choke are taken into consideration.
A Resolution for Shared Memory Conflict in Multiprocessor System-on-a-Chip

Abstract: Now days, manufacturers are focusing on increasing the concurrency in multiprocessor system-on-a-chip (MPSoC) architecture instead of increasing clock speed, for embedded systems. Traditionally lock-based synchronization is provided to support concurrency; as managing locks can be very difficult and error prone. Transactional memories and lock based systems have been extensively used to provide synchronization between multiple processors in general-purpose systems. It has been shown that locks have numerous shortcomings over transactional memory in terms of power consumption, ease of programming and performance. In this paper, we propose a new semaphore scheme for synchronization in shared cache memory in an MPSoC. Moreover, we have evaluated and compared our scheme with locks and transactions in terms of energy consumption and cache miss rate using SimpleScalar functional simulator.
