International Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2013,
Abstract: This novel study was aimed at identification of new genetic variants in Sahiwal cattle breed of Pakistan and determined the effects of these variants on milk yield. Five major milk protein genes in Sahiwal cattle were analyzed and two single nucleotide polymorphisms identified through bi-directional sequencing. These include A to T in exon XI at position 11462 of the alpha s1 casein gene; resulting in a Glutamic Acid (GAA) to Aspartic acid (GAU) substitution at position 84 of alpha s1 casein protein and T to C change at position 8491 of the exon VII in beta-casein gene resulting in a Valine to Alanine substitution at position 197 of beta casein protein. Amplification Refractory Mutation System (ARMS) and SNaPshot genotyping protocols were optimized for genotyping new genetic variants. The genotypes in both the alpha-s1 casein and beta casein genes were found associated with milk yield but their influence was not statistically significant. However, the least square means of milk yield for TT genotypes of alpha s1 casein and of beta casein genes were higher compared to other genotypes.

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Anxiety is a kind of agitation and concern stemming from the feeling of threat or hazard in human. It can decrease or increase the understanding ability of individuals. Most clinical patients have anxiety in confronting a new and unknown environment such as hospitals. A non-pharmacological method such as pleasant sound of Holy Quran recitation can be used as a useful and effective procedure to decrease the anxiety. The aim of this research was to study the recitation effects of Holy Quran on anxiety of woman before cesarean. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 80 women expecting cesarean section were randomly selected regarding their characteristics and divided into two groups: control group (30 members) and experimental group (50 members). Data collection instrument was a two-part questionnaire including demographic characteristics, and Spilburge’s state-trait anxiety inventory. The degree of anxiety for the two groups was evaluated before cesarean, then before innate cesarean, the Holy Quran recitation was played for experimental group for 20 minutes by the sound of famous recite, Abdol Basset. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square, single sample & paired T-test, and a Pvalue of 0<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: The results showed that the degree of anxiety decreased in experimental group after intervention (P=0.0001), but not in the control group.(P=0.98) Comparison of the two groups showed a significant difference after intervention (P=0.002). Conclusion: According to the results of this research and because of the agreeable rhythmic intonation of the Quran as gnostic music and its miracle aspect, we can use its tone as a non medicinal method for reducing anxiety before cesarean women.

Palabras claves: Modelo reológico; Velocidad de corte; Viscosidad In this work, an experimental study for the rheological characterisation of sugar solutions in the process of sugar production was performed. The main purpose was the characterisation of sugar solutions in order to model its rheological behaviour for optimising the evaporation-crystallisation process at a later stage. In the experiments, a 3 factorial design of experiment was used, where it considers the interaction of three factors in determining the response variable, in this case the factors are: the concentration (°Bx), the temperature and revolutions per minute (shear rate), each one with three levels, taking as response variable viscosity. The experimental development and analysis of results lead to the determination of the rheological model for the test solutions in the study range of the factors of interest, and it is proposed a type Ostwald-de Waele model for dilatant fluids. Keywords: Rheological model; Shear rate; Viscosity
Los mecanismos de decision en la busqueda en memoria
Miguel Angel Mirón
Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología , 1976,
Abstract: An experiment was performed to test two hvpotheses; that an exhaustive search was based in aspecific procedure, and that there are differences between the decision mechanisms in the required responses. Subjects were given three groups of letters to memoríze, one in each part of the experiment; after that the stimuli were tested using two eriteria. The obtained results show a lineal function that relates the number of memorized stimuli and the average reaction time. Also, different values were obtained in the zero intercepts of the lineal equations that belong to each type of responses. Data are in favor of the two tested hypotheses, because the slopes of the two types of responses were very similar; an exhaustive search occurred; the zero intercepta are different for each type of response, and therefore tbe decision mechanisms are not equal for the two responses: negative responses occur more rapidly than positive ones.

Historia Crítica , 2008,
Abstract: this study focuses on an unknown part of the operation of colonial justice for both the historiography of the law and social history. it starts by questioning the image of the executioner that has persisted over time and analyzing it as a political construction deployed by a specific social group. the article examines the changes to the position of the executioner under the bourbon reforms at the end of the eighteenth century in what was then the kingdom of chile. it also analyzes the material changes that the executioner faced, particularly regarding wages. the goal of the article is to demonstrate that the infamy tied to the post, which emerged from the arguments of colonial authorities and reinforced by nineteenth-century writers and historians, needs to be understood with greater nuance.

Wayamba Journal of Animal Science , 2012,
Abstract: Sex preselection is a subject that has held man’s attention for generations. The most effective way to achieve sex predetermination is to resolve X and Y chromosome bearing sperm populations. Inthe past, various techniques have been evolved with paucity of scientific validation. Among them, Flow cytometry, which isbased on the principle of difference in the DNA content, is the best and efficient method .This technique has been suitably modified and is being used commercially in several countries with about 90% accuracy in cattle. Recently, the process of commercialization of sexed sperm hastened. However, this technology has some impediment with respect to cost of production, implementation and pregnancyrate than control sperm. Despite these limitations, production of sexed semen usually followed by cryopreservation is being used commercially for cattle and horse production. Development of the instrument for increasing the sorting rate and also purity of sorting without affecting the viability and fertility is still an active area of research.
Pathogen and Circadian Controlled 1 (PCC1) Protein Is Anchored to the Plasma Membrane and Interacts with Subunit 5 of COP9 Signalosome in Arabidopsis
Ricardo Mir, José León
PLOS ONE , 2014, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0087216
Abstract: The Pathogen and Circadian Controlled 1 (PCC1) gene, previously identified and further characterized as involved in defense to pathogens and stress-induced flowering, codes for an 81-amino acid protein with a cysteine-rich C-terminal domain. This domain is essential for homodimerization and anchoring to the plasma membrane. Transgenic plants with the ?-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene under the control of 1.1 kb promoter sequence of PCC1 gene display a dual pattern of expression. At early post-germination, PCC1 is expressed only in the root vasculature and in the stomata guard cells of cotyledons. During the transition from vegetative to reproductive development, PCC1 is strongly expressed in the vascular tissue of petioles and basal part of the leaf, and it further spreads to the whole limb in fully expanded leaves. This developmental pattern of expression together with the late flowering phenotype of long-day grown RNA interference (iPCC1) plants with reduced PCC1 expression pointed to a regulatory role of PCC1 in the photoperiod-dependent flowering pathway. iPCC1 plants are defective in light perception and signaling but are not impaired in the function of the core CO-FT module of the photoperiod-dependent pathway. The regulatory effect exerted by PCC1 on the transition to flowering as well as on other reported phenotypes might be explained by a mechanism involving the interaction with the subunit 5 of the COP9 signalosome (CSN).
