Concurrent Peripheral Pathologies and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 1 as Contributors to Acute Post-Stroke Shoulder Pain: A Case Report

Abstract: Post-stroke shoulder pain is associated with either a peripheral or central pathology. However, most of the time, it is challenging to establish a cause-and-effect relationship between the suggested pathology and shoulder pain reported. We report a 66 year-old man who developed a right hemiplegic shoulder pain two months post stroke with initial investigations suggestive of peripheral pathologies. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment did not improve his shoulder pain. Later he developed complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) of the right hand and the initial shoulder pain subsequently relieved following resolution of the CRPS.

Abstract: Background: Journal clubs, founded by Sir William Osler in 1875, have been used as a teaching format in academic medicine for over a hundred years. New generation of journal club include EBM format, Audio journal club and the latest, E-journal clubs. This study aimed the challenges of helding E-journal club in MUMS. Method: For this, a special virtual space was designed for e-journal club and a practical article was selected for on-line comments. It was possible for participants to register in a 7-day time span. Leader of journal club sent an e-mail for participants and explained the process for them and asked them to read the article and leave a comment. As there was impossible for being on-line at the same time for participants, it was decided to design the second space for leaving comments. Both participants and leader could access the others’ comments, so the interaction became possible for them. The time for leaving comments considered 10 days. Result: Although participants included faculty members and students who were familiar with e-methods, there was no comment on the space. Conclusion: It seems, other involving factors should be considered. The other factors apart from educationals, influenced on performing and participating in new generation journal clubs which demands further observation

Abstract: In this study marketing maturity model has been used in Iran Transfo Corporation. For this purpose, the five levels process maturity model has been applied. The statistical population includes managers, supervisors and experts of marketing and sales at Iran Transfo Corporation and due to its small size, the entire population has been studied as the sample of research. 11 questionnaires have been used for data collection; its validity has been confirmed by content validity analysis and its reliability has been approved by Cronbach’s Alpha. The results imply that none of the marketing processes are at fifth and fourth levels, while out of them, eight are at the third and three are at the second level.
Some Ecological Aspects of Phlebotomine Sand Flies in an Endemic Focus of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Iran

Abstract: Following annual report of new cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis from different areas of Kuhpayeh district, Esfahan County, an investigation was carried out on some ecological aspects of Phlebotomine sand flies during 2000-2002. Sand flies were collected biweekly from outdoor and indoor resting places with the aid of 30 sticky traps from the be ginning to the end of the active season. Female sand flies from rodent burrows were dissected and examined for the presence of pro-mastigote infection. Blood meals of engorged sand flies were identified by ELISA method. Totally, 4993 sand flies were collected and identified. The following species were found indoors: P. papatasi, P. ser genti, P. caucasicus, P. mongo len sis, P. al exandri, P. ansarii, P. major, P. kandelakii, S. sintoni, and the subsequent species were found outdoors: P. pa patasi, P ser genti, P. caucasicus, P. mongolensis, P. ansarii, P. major, S. sintoni, S. dentata, S. pawlowskyi. The sand flies active season began from May till October in this region. Natural promastigote infections observed in 1.06% of P. papatasi and also in one out of four of P. caucasicus. The human and rodent blood indices in P. papatasi were 61.9% and 20.69%, respectively. It seems that P. papatasi is the probable vector among rodents and also transmit Leishmania major, the causative agent of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis to man, and P. caucasicus transmit the agent of the disease among rodents.
Lie Symmetries and Solutions of KdV Equation

Abstract: Symmetries of a differential equations is one of the most important concepts in theory of differential equations and physics. One of the most prominent equations is KdV (Kortwege-de Vries) equation with application in shallow water theory. In this paper we are going to explain a particular method for finding symmetries of KdV equation, which is called Harrison method. Our tools in this method are Lie derivatives and differential forms, which will be discussed in the first section more precisely. In second chapter we will have some analysis on the solutions of KdV equation and we give a method, which is called first integral method for finding the solutions of KdV equation.
