Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2012, DOI: 10.3923/javaa.2010.1179.1190
Abstract: This study examines the fatty acid composition and cholesterol and vitamin contents of the muscles, liver, gonad and kidneys of pike living in Lake Ladik. Of the total Saturated Fatty Acids (SFA), the most predominant fatty acids present in both males and females are palmitic acid (16:0), stearic acid (18:0) and myristic acid. The difference between the muscles are insignificant (p>0.05). With regard to the Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFA), 18:1n-9, 18:1n-7 and 16:1 are predominantly found in the liver. The difference between the kidneys and the gonads are significant (p<0.05) but there is no significant difference between other muscles (p>0.05). Of the polyunsaturated fatty acids, the amount of n-3 PUFA is significantly different in muscle tissues compared with those of other tissues. Similar results were obtained for n-6 PUFA in kidney and for n-3/n-6 proportion in muscle tissues. The examination of the general compositions of the fatty acids reveal an intensification on 16:0, 16:1, 18:0, 18:1n-9, 18:1n-7, 20:4n-6, 20:5n-3 and 22:6n-3. EPA + DHA amount and PUFA/SFA proportion are the highest in muscle tissue. The least amount of cholesterol on the other hand is found in muscle tissue and there is a significant difference with those of other tissues (p<0.05). The highest amount of K1 and K2 vitamins are found in gonads and D2, D3 and α-tocopherol were highest in liver. These analyses are conducted with GC and HPLC.

Specifically, the study assesses the contributions of indigenous fruits to household’s cash income and to supply the local fruits demand. This study used a qualitative and quantitative analyzing approach which conducted field survey using semi-structured interview with locals and experts, observation and self-designed household exploratory questionnaires were used for primary data collection. The result of research found 12.5 hectare area at 3 places in Biger city planting small apple and sea buckthorn and they were planning to extent the planting area in another 15 hectare from 2015. These two fruits have been supplied big benefits to the 124 householders cash income, domestic use of bordering 17,822 citizens apple’s demand and supply of primary goods for local wine industry since 1971. The other benefits of the fruits planting area also have been supplying 1726 ton forage for 404 herder householder’s livestock food demand in the case area. The local small afro farm areas are contributing lots of benefits to the local householders’ livelihood and wellbeing, neighboring citizens’ fruit demand, livestock forage supply and also reducing desertification process in the Gobi desert region of Mongolia which is very important forest type.
Differences of Translation in the Field of Chromonyms in two Romanian Versions of the Bible: BB 1688 and Anania 2001. An Attempt of Typology
Silvia Nicoleta BALT
Studii de Stiinta si Cultura , 2012,
Abstract: Differences of translation of the chromonyms can be identified in the Romanian versions ofthe Bible. The article presents a typology of differences in two Romanian editions (BB 1688 andAnania 2001) and seeks to justify them in permanent confrontation with the textual sources. Theexamples analysed here demonstrate that the differences are due to errors in the handwritten copiesof the biblical text, to the influence of other biblical editions and to the necessity of rendering themessage of the original texts of Scripture into clear Romanian.
Translating the Chromonyms in the Bible: Lexical Adventure in Time and Space
Silvia Nicoleta Balt
Studii de Stiinta si Cultura , 2012,
Abstract: The paper attempts to investigate some aspects involved in the translation of the color words or chromonyms in the biblical text. Since the act of translation is a form of written communication linked organically to a given space and time, the translation of color lexicon illustrates, obviously, this dependence on a certain spatiotemporal context. Our approach focuses on the biblical text translated into Romanian language between the sixteenth and the twenty-first centuries. In this way, the analysis proposed, combining the comparative perspective with the historical one, becomes a lexical adventure which highlights the changes occurred throughout history in the equivalence process of a given informational content, the one offered by the color words.
Body Mass Index and Different Body Measurements of Turkish Angora and Van Cats in Two Different Locations
Serkan Erat,Sevket Arikan
Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2012, DOI: 10.3923/javaa.2010.118.122
Abstract: The aims of the present study were to compare the body mass index and some other body measurements of the Turkish Angora (n = 20) and Van (n = 16) cats in two different locations (Ankara Zoo = AOC and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kirikkale University = KKU) and also to determine the prevalence of overweight or obesity in this feline population. The effects of gender, age, location and eye colors were also investigated on the traits measured. The age of the cats ranged from 1-8 years old. Analyzed traits included Body Mass Index (BMI), live Body Weight (BW), Wither Height (WH), Body Length (BL), Head Circumference (HC), Body Condition Score (BCS). None of the cats in this study were found overweight or obese. The BMI of Turkish Van cats was greater than the BMI of Turkish Angora cats. The BW of Turkish Van cats tended to heavier than the Turkish Angora cats but the difference was not significant. The WH, BL and the HC values for both cats were similar. The BCS of Turkish Van cats was significantly greater than the BCS of Turkish Angora cats in KKU. Significant phenotypic correlations were found between the BW and the WH and the BL and the HC and the BMI and the BCS; between the WH and the BL and the HC; between the BL and the HC and the BCS; between the HC and the BCS; between the BMI and the BCS. The present study more clearly defines some body traits of the Turkish cats and may help to understand these invaluable cats better.

Abstract: There are many factors that make “illegal migration” become one of the greatest problems of the contemporary world. The most significant ones of these factors are economic inequality, states’ incompetence in securing their peoples’ lives, political turmoils and acts of violence. No matter they are the source or target countries, all nations are in search of possible national and multinational solutions against the issue of illegal migration, illegal immigrant and refugee that chronically deliver great deal of problems. In conjunction with illegal immigration, another problematic phonemenon is revelaed: Foreign juvenile delinquency. Both illegally entered a country and involved in criminality, foreign juvenile delinquency is like a double edged dagger stabbed in the very heart of metropolitan areas. In this regard, foreign juvenile delinquency can be defined as a social problem which is affected by large-scale social events and trans- formations such as economic crisis, wars and political conflicts. The aim of this study is to introduce a general profile of the foreign juveniles that entered Turkey either legally or illegally and committed a crime and arrested by law enforcers in Istanbul. Files of 1130 juveniles who committed judicial or administrative crimes are compiled and examined from 2007 to the first four months of 2009.

Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2012.21003
Abstract: Ashirat (tribe), an Arabic-origin word, defines the first and the most important community among the small groups, constituting a tribe and it refers to a big family. The aim of this study is to describe hierarchical order and social status, normative/legal order and marriage and family patterns in Bin Yousuf ashirat settled in Harran valley of Sanliurfa province, Southeastern Turkey. Naimi and Bradat are the two clans loyal to Bin Yousuf ashirat. In this study, by using techniques of in-depth interview, observation and focus group interviews, a qualitative research was carried out upon the members of the Bin Yousuf Tribe. Results of the study revealed that the basic feature of this social structure is the loyalty to the introverted institutions such as the tribe and aghaism, which are interlaced with each other through the very long history. Ashirat as an institution in the area where there is no strong governmental organization or security over any matter, maintains its function in overcoming difficulties and solving the problems such as the need of getting and using bank loans, establishing security and solidarity. This situation considerably maintains the loyalty of the members to the ashirat.
