New Formulation Strategies in Topical Antifungal Therapy  [PDF]
Sevgi Güngr, M. Sedef Erdal, Buket Aksu
Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications (JCDSA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jcdsa.2013.31A009
Abstract:

Fungal infections of the skin are one of the often faced with dermatological diseases in worldwide. Topical therapy is an attractive choice for the treatment of the cutaneous infections due to its advantageous such as targeting of drugs to the site of infection and reduction of the risk of systemic side effects. Currently, antifungal drugs are generally used as conventional cream and gel preparations in topical treatment. The efficiency of that treatment depends on the penetration of drugs through the target layers of the skin at the effective concentrations. However, stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, is an effective barrier for penetration of drugs into deeper layers of the skin. The physicochemical characteristics of drug molecules and the types of the formulations are effective factors in topical drug delivery. Therefore, a number of formulation strategies have been investigated for delivering antifungal compounds through targeted site of the skin. This review article focuses on the new alternative formulation approaches to improve skin penetration of antifungal drugs.

Optimization and Characterization of Chitosan Films for Transdermal Delivery of Ondansetron
Asl? Sedef Can,Meryem Sedef Erdal,Sevgi Güngr,Y?ld?z ?zsoy
Molecules , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/molecules18055455
Abstract: The aim of this study was to develop novel transdermal films of ondansetron HCl with high molecular weight chitosan as matrix polymer and 2-(2-ethoxy-ethoxy) ethanol (Transcutol ?) as plasticizer. In this context, firstly the physicochemical properties of gels used to formulate transdermal films were characterized and, physicochemical properties and bioadhesiveness of the transdermal films prepared with chitosan gels were assessed. The impact of three different types of terpenes, namely limonene, nerolidol and eucalyptol on in vitro skin permeation of ondansetron from transdermal films were also examined. ATR-FTIR measurements were performed to investigate the effects of the chitosan film formulations on in vitro conformational order of stratum corneum intercellular lipids after 24 h permeation study. The results showed that the chitosan gels consisting of Transcutol ? as plasticizer and terpenes as penetration enhancer may be used to prepare transdermal films of ondansetron due to the good mechanical properties and bioadhesiveness of the transdermal films. Eucalyptol (1%) showed higher permeation enhancer effect than the other terpenes and control. ATR-FTIR data confirmed that finding in which eucalyptol induced a blue shift in the both CH2 asymmetric and symmetric absorbance peak positions indicating increased lipid fluidity of stratum corneum.
On the Virasoro Structure of Symmetry Algebras of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations
Faruk Güngr
Symmetry, Integrability and Geometry : Methods and Applications , 2006,
Abstract: We discuss Lie algebras of the Lie symmetry groups of two generically non-integrable equations in one temporal and two space dimensions arising in different contexts. The first is a generalization of the KP equation and contains 9 arbitrary functions of one and two arguments. The second one is a system of PDEs that depend on some physical parameters. We require that these PDEs are invariant under a Kac-Moody-Virasoro algebra. This leads to several limitations on the coefficients (either functions or parameters) under which equations are prime candidates for being integrable.
ON DISTRIBUTIONS OF ORDER STATISTICS FROM NONIDENTICAL DISCRETE VARIABLES

Pakistan Journal of Statistics and Operation Research , 2011, DOI: 10.1234/pjsor.v7i2.198
Abstract: In this study, the distributions of X_r:n order statistic of innid discrete random variables are obtained. In addition, the distributions are also expressed in the form of an integral. Then, the results related to pf and df of minimum and maximum order statistics of innid discrete random variables are given.

Abstract: Apparel is the primary material that a person consulted while creating and identity which is not only who actually he is, but also who he wants to be. In his social life or working life, people dress for impressing others because of mmany effective reasons, or pretending someone else or just to get what he wants. Thus he tells something about himself and over these images the society relates the look with his life-style. Basically, fashion refreshes itself for this deceptions. Human being is able to cover himself in any surroundings even he is most visible in. So, he is influenced by what, in a virtual world where is the most available atmosphere to hide “self”? While he is creating his digital identity called avatar, does he follow his own example or draws a sample of the simulation of a person he wants to be? In this case, it’s studied that; what criterions the gamers take in their costume and image selections during the creation of their visual characters and also this consciousness or underconsciousness is being understood by other gamers in the digital games like The Sims, The Sims Social, Second Life by questing the gamers in several ages, occupations and genders. Finally, it’s been highlighted the importance of apparel in the process of creating a digital ID.
Measuring plant species diversity in alpine zones: A case study at the Kazda i National Park, in Turkey
Güngr ?at Beyza
Archives of Biological Sciences , 2011, DOI: 10.2298/abs1104147g
Abstract: Biodiversity includes three main concepts: genetic diversity, species diversity and ecosystem diversity. Species diversity: mountain ecosystems, alpine regions above the timberline, have to be rich in terms of plant compositions and plant species diversity. Richness and evenness are two main factors in measuring the diversity of a habitat. Richness takes into account individual species, while evenness contributes towards the relative abundance of each species. According to the results of this study, 52% of the total endemic plant taxa of the Kazda National Park is determined in the alpine regions and therefore the alpine zones, with their rich endemic and rare plant species, are important from the aspect of biodiversity and species conservation. In addition, this study describes the relation between environmental factors and plant species diversity and evenness.
A New Like Quantity Based on "Estrada Index"

Journal of Inequalities and Applications , 2010,
Abstract: We first define a new Laplacian spectrum based on Estrada index, namely, Laplacian Estrada-like invariant, LEEL, and two new Estrada index-like quantities, denoted by S and , respectively, that are generalized versions of the Estrada index. After that, we obtain some lower and upper bounds for LEEL, S, and .
A Study on the Effects of Family and Delinquent Peers on Juvenile Delinquency in Turkey  [PDF]
Tulin G. Icli, Sevgi Coban
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2012.21009
Abstract: The aim of this article is to explore the effects of peers and family on juvenile delinquency. Open-ended and multiple choice questionnaires were applied to 1526 juveniles in two cities of Turkey; Ankara and Istanbul. Consistent with the literature findings showed that the family has an indirect and partial effect on juvenile’s tendency to commit crime because they cannot provide organized social networks, role models, and social controls for their children. On the other hand, by developing a differential association with the juvenile, by which violence and criminal acts are learned, legitimated, supported or encouraged; the peer network has a direct and an incredible influence to initiate the juvenile into crime.
Pazarlama Performans l ütleri: Bir Literatür Taramas (Marketing Metrics: A Literature Review)
Güngr HACIO?LU
Y?netim ve Ekonomi , 2012,
Abstract: Marketing’s inability to measure its contribution to firm performance leads to losing its status in the firm, and therefore recently marketing function is under increasing pressure to evaluate its performance and be accountable. In this context, determining appropriate metrics to measure marketing performance is discussed by both marketing practitioners and scholars. The aim of this study is to review the literature on marketing metrics used to measure marketing performance and importance attached to these metrics. Besides, some forces elevating the importance of marketing metrics, difficulties and criticism of measuring marketing performance will be explicated. Also, managerial applications and future research opportunities are presented.
