The Importance of Affective Factors in Self-Access Language Learning courses
Sergio Valdivia,David McLoughlin,Jo Mynard
Studies in Self-Access Learning Journal , 2011,
Abstract: In this short summary, we investigate the importance of learners’ emotional involvement in self-directed learning. We begin by briefly examining the literature related to affective factors in self-access language learning. We then describe two examples of institutions with self-access centres that place particular importance on affective factors in courses of self-directed study. The first example is in a university in Japan, where affective strategies are introduced through self-directed learning modules. The second example is in a university in Mexico, where educators are investigating how feelings about self-access language learning can change over time.

Abstract: far from being restrictive, distance from chile to traditional cultural centers has given to its architecture fortitude and courage. this peripheral condition has resulted in attention to representation means and concerns about the way architecture is learnt while being distant from its object of study.

Abstract: children are exposed to trauma, and when they experience severe trauma as violence, sexual abuse, accidents or natural disasters they may develop posttraumatic stress disorder (ptsd). different issues about this disorder in children are reviewed. its definition, current diagnostic criteria (dsm-iv-tr and icd-10), prevalence and course, clinical presentation including clinical cases, mediating factors, etiology and treatments that include individual psychotherapy, group and family therapy and pharmacotherapy are discussed

ARQ , 2006,
Far from being restrictive, distance from Chile to traditional cultural centers has given to its architecture fortitude and courage. This peripheral condition has resulted in attention to representation means and concerns about the way architecture is learnt while being distant from its object of study.

Transgression forms as source for topological gravity and Chern-Simons-Higgs theories
Omar Valdivia
Physics , 2014,
Abstract: Two main gauge invariant off-shell models are studied in this Thesis. I) Poincare-invariant topological gravity in even dimensions is formulated as a transgression field theory whose gauge connections are associated to linear and nonlinear realizations of the Poincare group ISO(d-1,1). The resulting theory is a gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model whereby the transition functions relating gauge fields belong to the coset ISO(d-1,1)/SO(d-1,1). The supersymmetric extension leads to topological supergravity in two dimensions starting from a transgression field theory for the super-Poincare group in three dimensions. The construction is extended to a three-dimensional Chern-Simons theory of gravity invariant under the Maxwell algebra, where the corresponding Maxwell gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model is obtained. II) dimensional reduction of Chern-Simons theories with arbitrary gauge group in a formalism based on equivariant principal bundles is considered. For the classical gauge groups the relations between equivariant principal bundles and quiver bundles is clarified, and show that the reduced quiver gauge theories are all generically built on the same universal symmetry breaking pattern. The reduced model is a novel Chern-Simons-Higgs theory consisting of a Chern-Simons term valued in the residual gauge group plus a higher order gauge and diffeomorphism invariant coupling of Higgs fields with the gauge fields. The moduli spaces of solutions provide in some instances geometric representations of certain quiver varieties as moduli spaces of flat invariant connections. In the context of dimensional reductions involving non-compact gauge groups, the reduction of five-dimensional supergravity induce novel couplings between gravity and matter. The resulting model is regarded as to a quiver gauge theory of AdS(3)xU(1) gravity involving a non-minimal coupling to scalar Higgs fermion fields.

Gaceta médica de México , 2004,
Abstract: objective: the aim of this study was shown clinical characteristics and follow-up of patients with atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia (avrt) who underwent radiofrequency catheter ablation (rca) therapy. material and methods: from april 1992 to december 1995, 413 patients with avrt underwent rca therapy. results: two hundred thirty four men (57%) and one hundred seventy nine women (43%) aged 31.3 ± 16-3 years were studied. 437 single accessory pathways were found; 24 had multiple accessory pathways. ablation therapy was successful in 381 accessory pathways. during follow-up of 7 years, avrt recurred in 51 patients (13%) and in 80% this occurred within the first 3 months after the procedure. 56 patients underwent a second rca therapy with success in 35 patients (83.5); two reoccurred (5.7%); 365 accessory pathways (83.5) remained without evidence of preexcitation avrt. conclusions: during follow-up, these patients with successful ablation therapy remained without symptoms. in patients who underwent a second rca therapy, atrioventricular reentrant mechanism was always present.
