Abstract: in this work we study the structural properties of amorphous oxynitride films (a-sioxny), grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (pecvd)at 320° c. the films were deposited at different ow ratio of n2o and sih4. the atomic composition of the samples was determined by means of rutherford backscattering spectrometry (rbs). the local order structure was studied by x-ray absorption spectroscopy (xas) and the chemical bondings were investigated by fourier transform infrared (ftir) spectroscopy. the results evidence a tetrahedric arrangement of the oxynitride network. the tetrahedrons are similiar to sio3n for x values between 1.43 and 1.64. for x values higher than 1.64 the tetrahedrons are similar to sio4.

Chain-computerisation in practice: the criminal justice chain Keteninformatisering in de praktijk: de strafrechtketen
W.L. Borst
Journal of Chain-Computerisation , 2011,
Abstract: This article is available in English and Dutch Criminal law enforcement can be seen as both a chain and a network. The ‘chain’ concept is the guiding principle for the design of the information-architecture and the computerisation of the chain. Originally, the dominant chain problem was the ability to administer the correct sanction (punishment or action) to a person (perpetrator). Since 2005, a new perspective has been added to this: the accurate and reliable identification of suspects and convicted persons, because it is essential to administer the sanction to the right person. The administration of the right sanction requires full and adequate information about the suspect. Much of this information is already available within the organisations that together form the criminal justice system. However, the information must be made available -- quickly and easily -- to those who need it. This information is designated as "the comprehensive (criminal) picture of the person'. Imposing the penalty to the right person also demands a watertight system for establishing the correct identity of suspects and convicted persons throughout the entire chain of criminal justice, preventing the use of aliases to get rid of a sanction or a reputation. This information is designated as a person’s ‘correct (criminal) picture of the person’. The theory of Chain-computerisation offers us the necessary concepts and insights for the design of the requisite information architecture for achieving both these profiles.
The pathogenesis of primary pouchitis following ileal pouch-anal anastomosis: a review of current hypotheses  [PDF]

Open Journal of Gastroenterology (OJGas) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ojgas.2011.12002
Abstract: Primary pouchitis is a common complication of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis following proctocolectomy in patients treated for ulcerative colitis (UC), but is un-usual for those treated for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). While a number of theories as to the pathogenesis of this inflammatory condition have been proposed, no single one has been wholly satis-factory. Much research has been devoted to investi-gating a link between the pathogenic factors involved in UC, but not FAP, and those underlying pouchitis. The contribution of sulfate-producing bacteria has also been explored. The role of other intraluminal factors, such as short chain fatty acids and unconju-gated bile salts, has also been investigated. A unifying theory of a multi-step process might explain the pathogenesis of pouchitis, but further research is re-quired to proof causation. It is likely that pouchitis develops as a result of a combination of genetic, im-munological, microbial and metabolic factors. Future insight into the causes of pouchitis may eventually allow for the development of more effective treat-ments.
A Low Cost Web-based Supply Voltage Quality Monitoring System
W.L. Tse,W.L. Chan
Information Technology Journal , 2003,
Abstract: In this research, a web-based supply voltage monitoring system based on a compact microprocessor module is presented. It provides a low-cost and flexible solution for monitoring the power quality of electricity supply. The hardware consists of the module and a few extra electronic components. This shortens the development time and lowers the manufacturing cost. Also, the power quality data can be presented via a web page. Any user in the Internet can access the data from the new monitoring system. Moreover, the size of the system is very small presenting no difficulties for installation. All these features make it very competitive to be used as a supply voltage quality monitor. The prototype of this system has been built. It has been applied in our laboratory to continuously monitor the power quality so as to demonstrate its beauty.
