Abstract: this paper aims to discuss the truth statute of our practices and our knowledge. our theoretical reference is based on foucault's work; this questioning comprises both the discourses which have produced such institutions, and the very spatial distribution of these places. in particular, we question how these practices supported by juridical and scientific discourses may be producers of truth; however, here we will bring this truth into question, through its deconstruction. we problematize such questions through the experience of participating in hearings of youths in conflict with the law and that of visiting temporary commitment units at the "funda??o de atendimento socioeducativo" (fase).

Abstract: this article analyzes psychiatric hospitalization of young patients from a contemporary social-subjective (rather than a psychopathological) perspective, following the trajectory of these youth prior to their admission. the study was conducted at the center for comprehensive psychosocial care for children and adolescents, s?o pedro psychiatric hospital, in the city of porto alegre, rio grande do sul state, brazil. recurrent traits in the trajectory of these youth expressed how the health care network functioned with them prior to their hospitalization, with a consistent pattern of socioeconomic deprivation, low schooling, and drug use. another key aspect was the role of the court system in referring them for hospitalization, adhering to a kind of logic that punished both the youth and the services and paradoxically formed a strategy for access to health services.

Abstract: This paper discusses implication, listening and authorship as theoretical and methodological tools of Social Psychology. The empirical data on which this discussion is based on comes from the experience of working with youths who reside in a community located on the outskirts of the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. This deliberation begins from two propositions according to which the modes of inhabiting and dislocating in the city s territory has subjective repercussions and that it is possible to constitute a strategy for intervention established on collective actions of circulation and reflection on those dislocations. When collective actions of circulation and reflection operate spaces and exercises of authorship, we observe as much a subjective reconfiguration of the subjects as much as of the professionals themselves. Reaching the conclusion that the strategies that seek to amplify the city s territories of circulation are necessary not only for the inhabitants of the outskirts, but also for Social Psychologists.

In this article we discuss the conceptions of government in Michel Foucault’s and Giogio Agamben’s work, from the epistemological field of Psychology. Our proposal is a theoretical debate which problematizes the similitude and the difference between both authors, mainly at the biopolitics and government issues. From this discussion, we conclude that life and death become objects of government, and that, due to this, all politics becomes a sort of object of biology as well. Thus, talking about public policies is to talk about how the population must be governed, previously planned or calculated. Therefore, to problematize, to discuss and to analyze what are public policies, to what and to whom they are directed, leads us to the question, ultimately, about the problem of government and of biopolitics which in turn, manage ways of living and of dying. Abstract: from analysis on material resulting from a child biopsychology course given by psychiatrists at s?o pedro psychiatric hospital in 1940, which was aimed at public schools teachers in the city of porto alegre, brazil, we aimed to show the spread of psychiatric knowledge beyond the hospital walls. the organization of the subjects in this course, along with its public, denote the strategies through which the psychiatric paradigm in rio grande do sul in the middle of the last century was disseminated to other institutional spaces. the course shows an early instance of bringing the fields of psychiatry and education together, with the aim of providing teachers with the means to recognize problematic pupils. this contributed towards creating mechanisms for controlling and preventing deviant behavior. the theoretical and methodological reference points are based on michel foucault's genealogical perspective, especially the courses given at collège de france in 1974 and 1975.
