Effect of carbon dioxide laser ablation followed by intralesional steroids on keloids
Garg Gaurav,Sao Prajct,Khopkar Uday
Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery , 2011,
Abstract: : Keloid is a difficult-to-treat condition and an ideal treatment modality is not available. Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) laser is one of the modalities to treat keloids. Aim : To evaluate the effect of CO 2 laser ablation followed by intralesional steroids on keloids. Settings and Design : This was a prospective, single-center, uncontrolled, open study. Materials and Methods : Twenty-eight patients having 35 keloids were included in the study. Keloids were ablated or excised with CO 2 laser followed by intralesional steroid 3-4 weeks apart for 6 months. Results were evaluated after 6 months of stopping of intralesional steroids. Statistical Analysis : Fisher′s exact test was applied for obtaining difference in recurrence rate of regular and irregular patients. Results : Thirteen patients followed up regularly for intralesional steroids. During 6 months of follow-up after stoppage of steroids, only two patients showed recurrence. Ten patients were irregular for intralesional steroids and seven of them showed recurrence. Difference in recurrence rate of regular and irregular patients was significant. Conclusion : Only CO 2 laser ablation is not sufficient for halting the pathogenesis of keloid formation. We therefore conclude that CO 2 laser followed by intralesional steroid is a useful therapeutic approach for the treatment of keloids; however, patients need to be observed for recurrence over the next 1 year.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2013.49214
Abstract:

The present investigation was conducted to find out the effect of varying levels of fly ash and growth hormones on the determination of chlorophylls. The experiments were conducted in pots during 2009-2010 with Arachis hypogaea L. (groundnut) grown with different levels of fly ash concentration, and soil was used (various combinations) at Guru ghasidas University, Bilaspur (CG.) India. In fresh leaf, chlorophylls content varies in the plain soil from 0.29 to 0.64 mg g-1, which is less for photosynthetic activities. Arachis hypogaea L. showed maximum germination percentage, increasing leaf area, enhancement of root & shoot length, whereas Fly ash, bio fertilizers with growth hormone showed minimum values in all parameters. Results showed that, for combination of A to E, the value of chlorophyll ranged from 0.270 mg g-1 to 0.395 mg g-1

Effect of Home Video on the Reading Habit of Literate Nigerian Housewives
SAO Oladunjoye
African Research Review , 2009,
Abstract: The study investigated the effects of home-video on the reading habit of a hundred (100) randomly selected literate house-wives in one of the 752 local government areas of Nigeria. The descriptive survey method was used to field the views of the respondents on the use of home made video with reference to their reading habit. Through the four-point Scale it was found that, indeed, the emergence of home video in Nigeria and particularly its sporadic expansion in the recent time has a great effect on the reading habit of Nigerian house wives.
Hmong Americans’ Educational Attainment: Recent Changes and Remaining Challenges
Yang Sao Xiong
Hmong Studies Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Using U.S. Census data from 1990 to 2010, this paper examines Hmong Americans’ language use, English language ability, school attendance, high school dropout rate, and educational attainment. The data reveal significant improvements in Hmong Americans’ English languageability, attendance at higher levels of education, and higher education completion. The data also show that there are differences between states, between males and females, and between agecohorts with respect to certain educational outcomes. Additionally, the gap between Hmong females and males in terms of high school dropouts and educational attainment has narrowed considerably. Implications of these findings are discussed and consideration given to some of the persistent structural challenges that Hmong American students continue to face in K-12 public schools.
Evolución del concepto social de discapacidad intelectual Evolution of the social concept of intellectual disability
Miriam Portuondo Sao
The reasons for the social evolution of intellectual disability and its present status in Latin America and Cuba are provided through a literature review and the analysis of the history and the current situation. Intellectual disability is regarded as a complex social problem, viewed in various forms and according to the analyzed social-cultural period. However, there is no doubt that mental retardation is neither an exclusive nor a fundamental medical or scientific problem, but above all a social problem. A social problem in its origin,
Work Life Balance in Today's World: A Necessitate for All

Indian Streams Research Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Our life has four quadrants: Work, Family, Friends/community and Self. To make one's life happy, it is very important in today's world to maintain a right balance between all the four quadrants. To give proper and timely attention to each can creates a feeling of satisfaction in oneself. If an individual gives focus on these four areas as key components, they are not hard to implement. Effective work life balance is a valuable marketing method of not only attracting employees but also retaining them for a long time.
Heterosis in relation to combining ability for yield and quality attributes in Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)
Abhinav Sao and Nandan Mehta
Electronic Journal of Plant Breeding , 2010,
Abstract: Genetical studies on fruit yield per plant and its attributing traits alongwith quality traits like total soluble solids (TSS) andrind thickness were conducted following line x tester mating design comprising of 8 lines and 6 testers at HorticultureResearch Farm, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. The analysis revealed that all the parents were found goodgeneral combiners for most of the characters. However, line IGBO 65 and tester KS 327 were found best combiners for fruityield per plant. The ratio of gca variance/ sca variance were observed less than unity for all the characters which revealed thepredominance of non-additive gene action. The hybrid, IGBL 70 X PPL was found best on the basis of specific combiningability and heterosis for fruit yield per plant. A high magnitude of heterosis (115.84%) for fruit yield per plant over betterparent was observed. There was high heterosis response in most of the hybrids which supports the role of non-additive geneeffects. The heterosis in relation to combining ability for quality parameters i.e. TSS and rind thickness were also foundsignificantly high in the respective hybrids, IGBO 40 X KS 331 and IGBR 44 X IVBL 9. Indirect selection for traits such as,plant height, fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit girth and branches per plant could be done in order to achieve higher yieldthrough heterosis breeding in brinjal.
