GEST?O.Org : Revista Eletr?nica de Gest?o Organizacional , 2008,
Abstract: Women from Rocinha, the largest carioca1 slum, established COOPA-ROCA. The present research aims at arriving at an answer to the following question: in setting up a popular cooperative, have women from Rocinha invented a genuinely new model of labor organization or have they merely reproduced models already existing in the market? The methodological procedures obeyed principles drawn from the ground theory. Thus, five categories emerged: a) motivation for association; b) sense of cooperativism; c) decision-making process; d) labor organization model; and, e) the meaning of being a craftswoman. In addition to these, one central category came into view: The Third Sector-based Instrumentalization. As a result, the following proposals were set up: a) considering that it is part of a network organization, the spirit of craftsmanship in its original sense is modified due to pressing demands arising from the production-end; b) the socioeconomical context determines the organizational model of cooperative work.
VALORA O DO CONHECIMENTO: SIGNIFICA O E IDENTIDADE NA A O ORGANIZACIONAL

Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 2013,
Abstract: The valuing of knowledge represents a gap in the field of organizational knowledge. This article aims at answering to which processes are adopted by individuals in the valuing of knowledge in organizations. The research, carried out with HR professionals, utilized the Grounded Theory Method. Results suggest that the individuals’ process of identification with the organizational identity has a central role in the valuing of knowledge. The organization, through its senior management or organizational routines, emerged as “the other” that seems to lead the guidelines to be followed, as well as which knowledge to assess and to value; it is the one that the organizational members seek to identify with. The individuals expressed mechanisms of assertion or reconstruction of their identities to generate, justify or negate their identification with the organization. It is suggested that the command model still prevails over vertical horizontal interaction, making it difficult to establish emergent knowledge among organizational members.

Abstract: The volume of work done in small workshops by women of the Rocinha, a shantytown in Rio de Janeiro, has grown in the last twenty-five years to the point of becoming a cooperative, COOPA-ROCA. Therefore this study sought to identify issues relevant to structuring of their work as well as performance of COOPA-ROCA. It was disclosed that the intermediation of the cooperative with important partners was centralized in one person, individual cooperative attitude is not recognized, craftswomen have not internalized the meaning of ownership and remain ignorant about financial performance. They avoid strategy-oriented meetings, however social activities are important. Abstract: We have analyzed high-resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio optical spectra of nearby FGK stars with and without detected giant planets in order to homogeneously measure their photospheric parameters, mass, age, and the abundances of volatile (C, N, and O) and refractory (Na, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Ba) elements. Our sample contains 309 stars from the solar neighborhood (up to the distance of 100 pc), out of which 140 are dwarfs, 29 are subgiants, and 140 are giants. The photospheric parameters are derived from the equivalent widths of Fe I and Fe II lines. Masses and ages come from the interpolation in evolutionary tracks and isochrones on the HR diagram. The abundance determination is based on the equivalent widths of selected atomic lines of the refractory elements and on the spectral synthesis of C_2, CN, C I, O I, and Na I features. We apply a set of statistical methods to analyze the abundances derived for the three subsamples. Our results show that: i) giant stars systematically exhibit underabundance in [C/Fe] and overabundance in [N/Fe] and [Na/Fe] in comparison with dwarfs, a result that is normally attributed to evolution-induced mixing processes in the envelope of evolved stars; ii) for solar analogs only, the abundance trends with the condensation temperature of the elements are correlated with age and anticorrelated with the surface gravity, which is in agreement with recent studies; iii) as in the case of [Fe/H], dwarf stars with giant planets are systematically enriched in [X/H] for all the analyzed elements, except for O and Ba (the former due to limitations of statistics), confirming previous findings in the literature that not only iron has an important relation with the planetary formation; and iv) giant planet hosts are also significantly overabundant for the same metallicity when the elements from Mg to Cu are combined together.
Accurate and homogeneous abundance patterns in solar-type stars of the solar neighbourhood: a chemo-chronological analysis

Abstract: We report the abundances of C, Na, Mg, Si, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Sr, Y, Zr, Ba, Ce, Nd, and Sm in 25 solar-type stars in the solar neighbourhood, and their correlations with ages, kinematics, and orbital parameters. The spectroscopic analysis, based high resolution and high S/N ratio data, was differential to the Sun and applied to atomic line EWs and to C and C2 spectral synthesis. We performed a statistical study using a tree clustering analysis, searching for groups of stars sharing similar abundance patterns. We derived Teff, log(g), and [Fe/H] with errors of 30 K, 0.13 dex, and 0.05 dex, respectively. The average error in [X/Fe] is 0.06 dex. Ages were derived from theoretical HR diagrams and memberships in kinematical moving groups. We identified four stellar groups: with over-solar abundances (<[X/H]> = +0.26 dex), under-solar abundances (<[X/H]> = -0.24 dex), and intermediate values (<[X/H]> = -0.06 and +0.06 dex) but with distinct chemical patterns. Stars sharing solar metallicity, age, and Galactic orbit possibly have non-solar abundance, an effect either of chemical heterogeneity in their natal clouds or migration. A trend of [Cu/Fe] with [Ba/Fe] seems to exist, in agreement with previous claims in the literature, and maybe also of [Sm/Fe] with [Ba/Fe]. No such correlation involving C, Na, Mn, and Zn is observed. [Mg/Fe], [Sc/Fe], and [Ti/Fe] increase with age. [Mn/Fe] and [Cu/Fe] first increase towards younger stars up to the solar age, and then decrease, a result we interpret as possibly related to time-varying yields of SN Ia and the weak s-process. [Sr/Fe], [Y/Fe], [Sr/Mg], [Y/Mg], [Sr/Zn], and [Y/Zn] linearly increase towards younger stars. [Zr/Fe], [Ce/Fe], [Nd/Fe], [Ba/Mg], [Ba/Zn], and [Sr,Y,Ba/Sm] increase but only for stars younger than the Sun. The steepest negative age relation is due to [Ba/Fe], but only for stars younger than the Sun.

Abstract: We report on the discovery of a new Milky Way companion stellar system located at (RA, Dec) = (22h10m43.15s, +14:56:58.8). The discovery was made using the eighth data release of SDSS after applying an automated method to search for overdensities in the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey footprint. Follow-up observations were performed using CFHT-MegaCam, which reveal that this system is comprised of an old stellar population, located at a distance of 31.9+1.0-1.6 kpc, with a half-light radius of r_h = 7.24+1.94-1.29 pc and a concentration parameter of c = 1.55. A systematic isochrone fit to its color-magnitude diagram resulted in log(age) = 10.07+0.05-0.03 and [Fe/H] = -1.58+0.08-0.13 . These quantities are typical of globular clusters in the MW halo. The newly found object is of low stellar mass, whose observed excess relative to the background is caused by 96 +/- 3 stars. The direct integration of its background decontaminated luminosity function leads to an absolute magnitude of MV = -1.21 +/- 0.66. The resulting surface brightness is uV = 25.9 mag/arcsec2 . Its position in the M_V vs. r_h diagram lies close to AM4 and Koposov 1, which are identified as star clusters. The object is most likely a very faint star cluster - one of the faintest and lowest mass systems yet identified.
The metallicity distribution of G dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood
Helio J. Rocha-Pinto,Walter J. Maciel
Physics , 1995, DOI: 10.1093/mnras/279.2.447
Abstract: We derive a new metallicity distribution of G dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood, using uvby photometry and up-to-date parallaxes. Our distribution comprises 287 G dwarfs within 25 pc from the Sun, and differs considerably from the classic solar neighbourhood distribution of Pagel & Patchett and Pagel by having a prominent single peak around [Fe/H] = -0.20 dex. The raw data are corrected for observational errors and cosmic scatter assuming a deviation of 0.1. In order to obtain the true abundance distribution, we use the correction factors given by Sommer-Larsen, which take into account the stellar scale heights. The distribution confirms the G dwarf problem, that is, the paucity of metal-poor stars relative to the predictions of the simple model of chemical evolution. Another feature of this distribution, which was already apparent in previous ones, is the small number of metal-rich stars again in comparison with the simple model. Our results indicate that it is very difficult to fit the simple model to this distribution, even with the definition of an `effective yield'. A comparison with several models from the literature is made. We find that models with infall are the most appropriate to explain the new metallicity distribution. We also show that the metallicity distribution is compatible with a major era of star formation occurring 5 to 8 Gyr ago, similar to results found by several authors.
