NURE Investigación , 2013,
Abstract: Aim: Describe the incidence of episiotomy in normal vaginal delivery and analyze risk factors that affect the performance of the practice by midwife.Material and Methods: Observational, descriptive, cross sectional, retrospective study from January 1 to December 31, 2011 at the University Hospital “La Ribera”. The variables are episiotomy, perineal tears, parity and technique, provided by the hospital itself. Results: The percentage of episiotomy in normal vaginal deliveries performed at the University Hospital "La Ribera" was 33.5% (2011). Statistically significant differences were found for variables perineal injury and mediolateral technique, increased the number of intact perineal and spontaneous tears for women without episiotomy. Among women who underwent episiotomy, there is a higher proportion than those who used a medial to lateral technique. Conclusions: The University Hospital "La Ribera" has a selective episiotomy policy in normal vaginals deliveries that favors humanized birth and helps to preserve the perineum intact.

Abstract:

Background: This document includes recommendations and guidelines issued by a group of Mexican researchers and specialists gathered in the First National Colloquium for the Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) by initiative of Instituto Nacional de Cancerología and with the support of the Leukaemia Department of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mexico lacks of updated information taken from its own reality on the diagnosis and treatment of CML and other haematological disorders; besides, there are no national guidelines. Aim: To publish a consensus document with guidelines for the management of CML adjusted to the national environment and overall characteristics. Method: The participants answered a DELPHI questionnaire about the overall aspects of the disease, aiming to target controversial topics, discuss them in the colloquium, and to agree on the best ones. After those meetings, a final document was drawn up. Results: The group presents recommendations for definition, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and treatment of CML in Mexico. Conclusions: Having consensus guidelines for the clinical management of CML in our country will enable the consensual practice of Mexican specialists regarding the clinical approach to CML, as well as optimize the resources which allow the rational planning of the medical care strategies.

Abstract: phaseolus vulgaris, source of nutrients and bioactive compounds, is part of the staple diet of many populations despite its consumption being sometimes limited due to the long cooking periods required and to the flatulence produced after its ingestion. the flatulence, product of the colonic fermentation of the a-galactosides and soluble fiber, can be significantly decreased by natural fermentation of the grain, prior to its consumption, with a more nutritious, sensorially accepted and non-flatulence producing foodstuff being obtained. the objective of this work was to measure the stability of fermented and ready-to-eat p. vulgaris. a white variety of fermented, cooked, and bottled in brine at 2% p. vulgaris was used. ph, titrable acidity, microbiological deterioration agents and instrumental color (l, a, b) was evaluated every 15 days at 30oc, 35oc and 40oc for 2 months. at 60 days of storage, the ph increased in 2% for the samples stored at 30oc and 40oc; at 35oc it increased in 6%. titrable acidity increased for samples stored at every treatment. mesophilous and the moulds were the main causal agents of deterioration at 45 days, with 105 cfu.ml-1 and 102 cfu.ml-1 being quantified, respectively. values of l and b increased at 60 days of storage. a shelf-life of 45 days was estimated for fermented, cooked and bottled in brine p. vulgaris beans stored at 30oc.

Abstract: the madeleine leininger's cultural care theory poses that the knowledge of cultural and social structure of a community, group or subject, may define the achievement of objectives in nursing assistance practice. for the practical utilization of this theory in our environment, we conducted a qualitative and descriptive study in a urban community from "julio antonio mella" polyclinic to describe the cultural features of that population, and to identify the required cultural care , thus applying the rising sun model of this theory embracing the following variables: educational, economic, political and legal factors, cultural values and lifestyles, social and family factors and religious and philosophical factors. we determined that this population has a schooling mean level of 12 degree level, to practice mainly the protestant religion, is integrated to mass organizations and has a low rate of crime. most works with a low birthrate and the cultural values are identified fundamentally in the solidarity. unhealthy lifestyles were developed related to risk factors of non-communicable chronic diseases. we verified some popular myths that may be respected thus we designed a proposal of transcultural cares to this population.
