Brand Equity and Brand Loyalty in the Internet Banking Context: FIMIX-PLS Market Segmentation  [PDF]
Sandra Maria Correia Loureiro, Francisco Javier Miranda
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2011.44054
Abstract: This research presents a model that integrates trust, online risks and benefits, brand awareness/associations, perceived quality and explains how they impact on brand equity and brand loyalty in the context of internet banking. The research model estimation uses the PLS approach and applies FIMIX-PLS to segment the sample. The research findings show that the main difference characterizing the two uncovered customer segments lies in the place of residence. Thus, the impact of online benefits on trust in the service provided is stronger for the first segment than for the second. For customers of the second segment, confidence in the bank’s web site information leads to a better perception of service quality and this is very important to ensure loyalty to the brand.
Alfabetiza??o e fracasso escolar: problematizando alguns pressupostos da concep??o construtivista
Sawaya, Sandra Maria;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022000000100005
Abstract: this article aims at contributing to the debate surrounding questions relative to literacy education and school failure of children from low-income families. it builds upon the results of a research conducted in 1999 in which some proposals based on the works of emília ferreiro and ana teberosky were analyzed. the proposals analyzed have been shaping public policies on literacy education in brazil since the eighties. various data from past researches that show the presence of written material in lower-class culture are also considered here. constructivist assumptions about the cognitive development of lower-class children and their relationship to the written text are analyzed from the point of view of socio-historical contributions which treat reading and writing as cultural practices - as one of many forms of self expression of individuals in society. the following conclusions are reached: cultural marginalization based on the lack of participation in the written culture does not exist in a literate society because the practices of writing take on varied shapes in different instances of social activity, defining social relations. the relationship that lower-class children have with the written word cannot be understood in all its complexity without considering the context and the diversity of the cultural forms that mold this relationship.

Sawaya, Sandra Maria;
Educa??o em Revista , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-46982012000100008
Abstract: the article presents data from an investigation, having as its objective, a deepening of our comprehension of how psychology is being applied in educating teachers, who are already in service. by examining the s?o paulo training program "the reading and writing project, priority in school" and "the project, all power to the first year", the way children are conceived of, based upon psychological concepts, is analyzed, alongside their learning achievements and initiation into our writing culture in response to projects designed to facilitate this. because of new ways we have of conceptualizing the learning process, where learning is now considered a consequence of the constructive nature of the young mind, it is pertinent to ask, to what extent these ideas break with previous ones, those belonging to so-called "traditional teaching". to answer this question, some contributions from the history of reading, were reviewed.

Sawaya, Sandra Maria;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142006000300015
Abstract: this article rises some contributions from psychology to the reflections on malnutrition and low school performance, through an analysis of some statements on the causes and consequences of malnutrition to child development as well as schooling of lower classes children. it analyses the assumptions that low performance at school of a great number of students in brazil would be explained by the presence of malnutrition, current or previous. it critically discusses the investigative methodologies and analysis which presented questionable conclusions that children who are victims of malnutrition suffer from cognitive and linguistic deficiencies. finally, it provides survey results, showing the need of reviewing these assumptions, since they continue to guide policies and practices on education and health, rendering impossible the solutions to school problems.
A infancia na pobreza urbana: linguagem oral e a escrita da história pelas crian?as
Sawaya, Sandra Maria;
Psicologia USP , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642001000100008
Abstract: through the experience of being with a group of children between 3 and 9 years old, in the outskirts of s?o paulo, i wanted to verify the thesis that these children are "language impaired" as a consequence of their poor verbal environment, the precarious use of language by parents and the verbal relationship with their children. the contact with the children, the parents and with the neighborhood revealed the complexity in which they use verbal language; it is through the language that the children determine their place in the adult world and above all constantly express their everyday experiences in their surrounding environment. it is through these rich verbal interactions, availability of popular and folklore music and metaphors, narrative occurrences in the neighborhood and the verbal expression of fantasies and fears, that the children become the "spokesmen" of a living and collective memory of the neighborhood. a neighborhood in which the struggle, not only for survival but also for the dignity of life, is the principal task that structures everyday life.
