EFECTO DEL GRADIENTE ALTITUDINAL SOBRE ASPECTOS AUTOECOLóGICOS DE ESPELETIA PYCNOPHYLLA ssp. ANGELENSIS CUATREC. (ASTERACEAE) EN EL PáRAMO EL INFIERNILLO (NARI?O-COLOMBIA)

Actualidades Biológicas , 2007,
Abstract: some autoecological features of espeletia pycnophylla ssp. angelensis cuatrec. such as its demographic structure, population density, spatial pattern of dispersion, production of reproductive structures, adult morphometry and survivorship, were studied in an altitudinal gradient on a dry paramo of nari?o (colombia). hypothesis proposed by other authors about a linear effect caused by the elevation on these variables were completely rejected. the elevation induces an ecoclinal effect on population density, and this density correlates negatively with both production of reproductive structures and adult sizes. these results elucidate an unequivocal effect of density-dependence phenomena on population fitness. the intermediate zone of the altitudinal gradient exhibits a high population density, but on the other hand show reduced corporal adult sizes, minimal production of reproductive structures and the probability of juveniles reaching advanced ages is low. evidently, this intermediate elevation can have favorable ecological conditions for the seedling establishment, wich increments population densities at long term. we propose that other author's generalizations about the influence of elevation on the autoecology of these plants are limited, because the particular life and disturbance stories of paramos and the spatial, ecological and genetic isolating are explicative factors impossible to take away from the context. the demographic structure of the population fitted the logarithmic model, revealing its early regeneration state from the last fire event on 2003 and the similarity of the survivorship curves among every elevation, probed a high demographic stability.

Guerrero Apráez,Víctor;
Papel Politico , 2008,
Abstract: so called political theology originated and developed in the seminal works of carl schmitt and walter benjamin during the tumultuous period of the weimarrepublic. under dramatic circumstances, both authors developed a defiant and original approach to the political and legal problems faced by the first democratic regime set up in germany , through which the question of the theological foundation and its implications for the theory and practice of politics arose in an unexpected way. the radically opposed positions adopted by benjamin and schmitt, demanding messianic revolution and exceptional counterrevolution, have exerted a rich and polemic influence in a broad set of the most influential political thinkers of the last century and the new millennium. political theologies are currently a vigorous academic field and are also part of the discipline of political studies. this essay explores the reasons for this new trend and the challenges it poses for politics as well as its contribution to the perspective of the victims.

Papel Politico , 2011,
Abstract: the strategies implemented by two presidents whose governments are so distant from a chronological point of view like those of alvaro uribe (2002-2010) and rafael nú?ez (1884-1894) in colombia, show notwhistanding, amazing points of contact and programmatic also ideological rapprochements through the attempt to build up by the way of a new foundation a state organization made by each one which final result was the deep partition between the after and before of both presidential terms accompanied with radical and contested transformations. employing classic and innovative political tools like biopolitics (roberto esposito), sharpening of political rivalry (schmitt) and political conversion (badiou) the focus of these analytical and comparative essay on the so called 'regeneration' of the one side, and the democratic security/communal state, of the other, both considered as biopolitical concepts, the fight against the liberal radicalism at the end of nineteenth century and the war against the farc, also the ideological wandering from his ancient party to the opposite and rival political community in both cases, allow to understand two complementary tactics used by both presidents: the undermining of the constitution and the upgrading of civil war as way of government.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of sex, sub-region, age at registration and year of registration, on 15 linear measures (withers height, back height, croup height, midback height, head length, neck length, back-loins length, croup length, shoulder bone length, body length, head width, chest width, hip width, thorax perimeter and shin bone perimeter) of the pantaneiro horse. data from 1214 animals were used, registered in the brazilian pantaneiro horse association, from 1972 to 1991, and analyzed using glm, princomp and corr procedures of sas and grouping procedures of the genes program. the sex, animal age at registration, sub-region and year of registration were significant sources of variation for most of the characteristics studied. the animals of the corumba region were in general larger than the animals from the other regions. morphological measures should be taken on the animals from 4 years of age. correlations between hip height, back height and shoulder height were high and positive, but between other measures were medium to low. using the grouping method there are several grouping of animals by type which need to be further investigated.
PSA-NCAM is Expressed in Immature, but not Recently Generated, Neurons in the Adult Cat Cerebral Cortex Layer II

Abstract: Neuronal production persists during adulthood in the dentate gyrus and the olfactory bulb, where substantial numbers of immature neurons can be found. These cells can also be found in the paleocortex layer II of adult rodents, but in this case most of them have been generated during embryogenesis. Recent reports have described the presence of similar cells, with a wider distribution, in the cerebral cortex of adult cats and primates and have suggested that they may develop into interneurons. The objective of this study is to verify this hypothesis and to explore the origin of these immature neurons in adult cats. We have analyzed their distribution using immunohistochemical analysis of the polysialylated form of the neural cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM) and their phenotype using markers of mature neurons and different interneuronal populations. Additionally, we have explored the origin of these cells administering 5′bromodeoxyuridine (5′BrdU) during adulthood. Immature neurons were widely dispersed in the cerebral cortex layers II and upper III, being specially abundant in the piriform and entorhinal cortices, in the ventral portions of the frontal and temporoparietal lobes, but relatively scarce in dorsal regions, such as the primary visual areas. Only a small fraction of PSA-NCAM expressing cells in layer II expressed the mature neuronal marker NeuN and virtually none of them expressed calcium binding proteins or neuropeptides. By contrast, most, if not all of these cells expressed the transcription factor Tbr-1, specifically expressed by pallium-derived principal neurons, but not CAMKII, a marker of mature excitatory neurons. Absence of PSA-NCAM/5′BrdU colocalization suggests that, as in rats, these cells were not generated during adulthood. Together, these results indicate that immature neurons in the adult cat cerebral cortex layer II are not recently generated and that they may differentiate into principal neurons.
Ríos-Nú?ez,Sandra M; Coq-Huelva,Daniel;
Cuadernos de Desarrollo Rural , 2012,
Abstract: this article makes a historical analysis of the dairy value chain operation in chile between 1975 and 2005. it uses information from different data sources, studies and reports on that period. its aim is to demonstrate that the generation of a competitive sector, open to international competition, and even exporting, is not the result of the actions of free-market forces but the result of public policy, in a way that is both flexible and persistent in time. the methodology used is based on an analysis of the transformation of the dairy value chain production structure in chile using the available economic data sources for the period mentioned above and applying the analytical categories of agri-food theory. the main results of this investigation show that the survival of milk production in chile is due to the combination of a series of agronomic facts -such as the obstacles to the productive reconversion of a portion of the south of the country- and a set of policy decisions that went from originally dogmatic ideas to much more pragmatic and flexible approaches.
