Current Extensions on PULSE
Sanda Dragos
Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai : Series Informatica , 2010,
Abstract: Using a learning management system (LMS) is a common practise nowadays. Such instruments are used in educational institutions to enhance and support the teaching act as well as in industry for training purposes. In a computer science department of an university such instrument tends to be a basic requirement. That is because not only it allows a better management of courses and a better communication between students and professors, but can also serve as a perfect instrument for presenting teaching related materials for computer science subjects. During the years I have created and used several such instruments: a System with Interactive ackNowledgement and Evaluation of students work during laboratory sessions (SINE), a Php Utility used in Laboratories for Student Evaluation (PULSE), and PULSE Extended. The aim of this paper is to present the current enhancements of PULSE.

Abdominal compartment syndrome
Sanda Robert
Annals of Saudi Medicine , 2007,
Abstract: The term abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) describes the clinical manifestations of the pathologic elevation of the intra-abdominal pressure (IAP). When the IAP exceeds 12 mm Hg it is referred to as intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) while ACS generally sets in at an IAP in excess of 20 mm Hg. This syndrome is most commonly observed in the setting of severe abdominal trauma and in the aftermath of major abdominal operations. ACS affects mainly the respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, gastrointestinal and the central nervous systems. Fundamental to the development of ACS are the obstruction of venous return to the heart via the inferior vena cava and the splinting of the diaphragm due to elevated IAP. Preventing ACS by the identifica--tion of patients at risk and early diagnosis is paramount to its successful management. To this end a high index of suspicion is sine qua non. The management of established ACS requires clinical astuteness and decisiveness with a readily available and generous team support. The purpose of this review is to enhance awareness among clinicians about a subtle condition with a devastating impact on morbidity and mortality if undiagnosed.
Interpolative Control for a d.c. Motor Drive With Genetic Algorithm-based Tuning
Sanda Dale
Journal of Computer Science and Control Systems , 2009,
Abstract: There are presented main theoretical and procedural aspects related to design and implementation of interpolative controllers as well as the tuning procedure based on genetic algorithms. As a study case an interpolative control structure for the speed of a d.c. motor drive is developed. Comparisons with initial adaptive system without GA improvements are made through simulations.
Welcomed and Unwelcomed Actors of Middle East's Sociopolitical Change
Lucian Sanda
Sfera Politicii , 2012,
Abstract: The present research aims at determining whether the current socio-political transformations in the Middle East are the results of an internal need for change, or rather the effects of the geostrategic interests of the U.S.? Following this question, we stress that the current political order in the Islamic world – that is in the Arab states with authoritarian, often dictatorial regimes, such as Iran and Libya – is the mere result of the overlapping collaboration of the two categories of participants” and interests.
