Abstract:
Arias, Salvador
Anuario de Estudios Americanos , 1996,
Abstract: Not available.

Arias, Salvador;Terrazas, Teresa;
Revista mexicana de biodiversidad , 2008,
Abstract: xpachebergia (backebergia x pachycereus), a new nothogenus from western mexico, is proposed. stem and seed morphology of this poorly known taxon from dry to very dry deciduous tropical forest in the balsas river basin, guerrero, are described and illustrated. its diagnostic morphological characters and relationships with pachycereus pecten-aboriginum and backebergia militaris, its putative parental taxa, are discussed.
Arias Ruelas, Salvador Felipe;
Revista IUS , 2011,
Abstract: the end of the second world war brought along the revaluation of the ideas of equality, justice and democracy these was reflected in the second half of the twentieth century in the european constitutionalism and later on many latin american constitutions, introducing different state obligations protecting fundamental rights. the author of the present article mentions than in the spite of the mexican constitutionalism has had a particular evolution, whit reforms introduced recently to the mexican constitution on the matter of human rights, and incorporates a new way to understand, interpret and apply fundamental rights in mexico, through figures like the close relationship of the public powers to those rights, the understanding of the double dimension of the fundamental rights and the location values in the constitution reflect principles of the democratic state.
La reforma constitucional de derechos humanos y la transversalización de los derechos The Constitutional Reform of Human Rights and the Mainstreaming of those Rights
Salvador Felipe Arias Ruelas
Revista IUS , 2011,
The end of the Second World War brought along the revaluation of the ideas of equality, justice and democracy these was reflected in the second half of the twentieth century in the European constitutionalism and later on many Latin American Constitutions, introducing different state obligations protecting fundamental rights.

Regularization of $\ell_1$ minimization for dealing with outliers and noise in Statistics and Signal Recovery
Salvador Flores,Luis M. Briceno-Arias
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: We study the robustness properties of $\ell_1$ norm minimization for the classical linear regression problem with a given design matrix and contamination restricted to the dependent variable. We perform a fine error analysis of the $\ell_1$ estimator for measurements errors consisting of outliers coupled with noise. We introduce a new estimation technique resulting from a regularization of $\ell_1$ minimization by inf-convolution with the $\ell_2$ norm. Concerning robustness to large outliers, the proposed estimator keeps the breakdown point of the $\ell_1$ estimator, and reduces to least squares when there are not outliers. We present a globally convergent forward-backward algorithm for computing our estimator and some numerical experiments confirming its theoretical properties.
González,Alfonso; Arias,Astrid; Mata,Salvador; Lima,Lucimey;
Investigación Clínica , 2009,
Abstract: the mood disorder questionnaire (mdq) is an inventory used to detect bipolar disorder type ii (bd ii) and it has been validated in several countries, other than venezuela. for this reason, the authors tried to determine the criterion validity of the venezuelan version of the mdq in venezuelan patients. the study was carried out in two stages at the psychiatric department of the hospital vargas of caracas, venezuela, which is a general teaching hospital. a group of 199 adult outpatients, who had been previously diagnosed as suffering from major depression disorder -single episode or recurrent- were evaluated. initially, they were diagnosed using the structured clinical interview for dsm-iv for axis i disorders (scid-i). afterwards, they were asked to answer the mdq using a cut-off point 3 7/13. the protocol was approved by the institutional review board of the hospital vargas of caracas. a total of 78.4% of the subjects were female. the mean age was 43.60 years for males (sd = 14.19) and 43.94 years for females (sd = 12.06). the frequency of false unipolar patients was 28.1% (23.6% bipolar disorder type i and 4.5% bd ii). while comparing the results of the scid-i and the mdq, a sensibility of 100.0% (95% ci: 0.66-1.00) and a specificity of 61.1% (95% ci: 0.53-0.68) were found for the diagnosis of bd ii. according to our results, the mdq with a cut-off point 3 7/13 is a valid instrument to detect the bipolar disorder type ii in venezuelan depressed outpatients.
Anatomía floral de cinco especies de Opuntia (Opuntioideae, Cactaceae) de México
Fuentes-Pérez, Mireya;Terrazas, Teresa;Arias, Salvador;
Polibotánica , 2009,
Abstract: the floral anatomy of five species of opuntia from mexico is described and compared. three to five floral buds (pre-anthesis) and flowers in anthesis were fixed and prepared using standard paraffin microtechnique. the most relevant results obtained confirm that the anatomical features of the pericar-pelo are similar to those of the vegetative stems; however, there are differences among species in the cuticle, epidermis and hypodermis. the external tepals in o. cantabrigiensis, o. decumbens and o. stenopetala have a papillose epidermis. the staminal filaments are free with an amphicribal bundle similar to that described for other members of the family. the nectary is of the hypanthial type. the opuntia style has an open stylar cavity like that reported for pereskia, but it is different from other dicotyledons. moreover, epidermal cells of said cavity are occluded by tannins, a character shared with pereskia and other genera of opuntioideae. the results suggest it is necessary to study additional members of this genus to understand adequately the interspecific variation.
