An Artificial Neural Network Model to Analyze Maize Price Behavior in Mexico  [PDF]
Raquel Salazar Moreno, Oscar Zerecero Salazar
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/am.2018.95034
Abstract: Mexican producers were supported by the Government from 1993-2013 through the PROCAMPO (support program, direct subsidy from the federal government), in order to keep the prices stable. The tool used to analyze the basic products price behavior was Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models. Data from the period 1980 to 2014 was available, and two ANN models were implemented, one including only internal prices of related products and the second takes into account also the international maize price. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the impact of internal related products and international maize price on the behavior of internal maize price. Both models demonstrated the powerful of the ANN for prediction of the maize price 3 and 5 years ahead. Also, a sensitivity analysis was performed using Garson’s algorithm, through which was demonstrated that rice, safflower and sorghum are corn’s complementary products. The rice price was the variable with a major positive impact on the national corn price. On the other hand, wheat, soybean and barley behave as corn’s substitute products, with wheat price being the variable with major impact on the corn price. Including the international corn price improves the model performance, besides there was a negative sensitivity between the international and national corn price; this behavior is explained by the fact that during PROCAMPO existence, the national prices were forced to be stable while the international maize price was increasing. Finally, this study showed the application of the ANN models in a particular product price behavior, with the possibility of being used in the decision making process for the application of subsidies to the agricultural producers in public policies.
Robinson Salazar,Melissa Salazar
Game Theory Applications in a Water Distribution Problem  [PDF]
Ardeshir Ahmadi, Raquel Salazar Moreno
Journal of Water Resource and Protection (JWARP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jwarp.2013.51011
Abstract:

A water distribution problem in the Mexican Valley is modeled first as a three-person noncooperative game. Each player has a five-dimensional strategy vector, the strategy sets are defined by 15 linear constraints, and the three payoff functions are also linear. A nonlinear optimization problem is first formulated to obtain the Nash equilibrium based on the Kuhn-Tucker conditions, and then, duality theorem is used to develop a computational procedure. The problem can also be considered as a conflict between the three players. The non-symmetric Nash bargaining solution is suggested to find the solution. Multiobjective programming is an alternative solution concept, when the water supply of the three players are the objectives, and the water authority is considered to be the decision maker. The optimal water distribution strategies are determined by using these solution concepts and methods.

The Adjust Data with the Laboratory PVT Reports that Are Applied in the Oil Wells Designs  [PDF]
Salazar-Mendoza Rubén
Advances in Chemical Engineering and Science (ACES) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/aces.2013.34A1003
Abstract: The correlations have been developed with the flash data to predict the multiphase flow and mass transfer in the oil wells designs. Therefore, the laboratory pressure/volume/temperature (PVT) reports require calculation of the flash Oil Formation Volume Factor and the flash Solution Gas/Oil Ratio data starting from Differential Liberation tested data. Once these parameters are known, the oil density and other thermophysical properties can be determined by a complete model for the different states of pressure and temperature in the well during its production life and initial design. The subject of this paper is how to read and make proper use of information contained in the IMP laboratory PVT reports, for the oil wells designs. The discussion is focused on the laboratory report for the well number 407 located in the Maloob field in Mexico.
Relevance of Epistemological Pluralism for Resource Management Policies  [PDF]
Mónica Gómez Salazar
Open Journal of Philosophy (OJPP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojpp.2015.56039
Abstract: The common believe of a single successful form of knowing the reality is misleading. A brief analysis of many human activities reveals a pluralistic perspective of several coexisting conceptual schemes that underlie the form in which women and men know and constitute the world in which we live. Here, I will discuss the necessity of taking seriously this pluralistic perspective when developing conceptual frameworks of human activities. As an example of great interest and importance, I will consider the case of resource management that has to contemplate the conservation and the response of ecosystems to human activities that may lead to irreversible damage. Ecosystems’ activity occurs over a wide range of space and time scales and, hence, policies and proposals of solutions to ecological problems should avoid narrow and monochromatic approaches. Specifically, the Pemon perspective of fire is a good example to show that for more robust and flexible resource management we need the knowledge and experience of different cultural and disciplinary groups.
SALAZAR,Cruz;
Acta Botánica Venezuelica , 2004,
Abstract: descriptions are given here of 80 taxa of the euglenophyta (5 belonging to genus euglena, 12 to lepocinclis, 29 to phacus, 16 to strombomonas, and 18 to trachelomonas). samples were collected by scraping off the periphyton of the roots, stems, and submersed leaves of hymenachne amplexicaulis (gramineae) from a floodable savanna in apure state,venezuela (07° 33? lat. n, 69°10?long. w). habitat characterized by acidic waters, low salinity, and a high density of macrophytes. of the 80 taxa, 40 are new reports for venezuela and 4 are proposed as new to science (s. girardiana var. multiondulata c. salazar var. nov.; t. armata var. nana f. intermedia c. salazar f. nov.; t. pyramidata f. inevoluta c. salazar f. nov.; t. volzii var. ellipsoidal c. salazar var. nov.).
Salazar,Robinson;
Frónesis , 2009,
Abstract: the latin american national security doctrine (nsd) was implemented at the boom time for armed movements and national-popular liberation struggles, in order to neutralize and destroy the insurgency; a few years later, as part of the continuity of hegemonic reasoning, low-intensity warfare (liw) was applied to countries with a significant degree of advance in their struggles and that had reached power, as in the cases of nicaragua and the central american area, which dismantled popular movements and killed hundreds of thousands of activists. today, as part of the war-like, repressive rationality from the state, the police state and zero tolerance are carried out as a continuation of this interventionist u.s. policy, couched in the manhattan institute and conservative north american sectors who fly the flag of direct confrontation against organized crime, terrorism and radical populism, which means the social construction of the enemy as a banner for annihilating and criminalizing popular protests in central america, mexico, colombia, peru, paraguay and argentina.
CURRIE Y COLOMBIA: EL ASESOR QUE VINO DE LEJOS
SALAZAR,BORIS;
Estudios Gerenciales , 2003,
Abstract: this paper presents and define a tesis about the impact of the currie′s woek as economic asesor in colombia . what made different currie from othere ecomists maging the colombia economic policy is his extreme independence respect to credit international organism and to the dominant theories modas. his independence was the product not only of his personal election, but the product of the special conditions involved in his arrive and steady in colombia . currie was independent because he could been it and because he elected it this is what this paper wants to argue.
Prayer and symbolisation in an Irish Catholic community
Salazar,Carles;
Etnográfica , 2008,
Abstract: the purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of prayer in the everyday life of an irish catholic community. prayers are mental acts that need to be actualised following detailed instructions. this is so because prayers have to be ?authentic?, which means that there has to be a correspondence between the act of praying and the mental state of believing. due to the fact that mental states are by definition invisible, the argument of this paper is that that correspondence can only be symbolised by the very special characteristics of the act of praying. by stressing the symbolic nature of the act of praying, an alternative to recent cognitive approaches to the analysis of ritualisation is also suggested.
Salazar,Rosario;
Argos , 2008,
Abstract: the creation of neighborhood mayors and the issue, in 1775 and 1778, of the main documents controlling their functions, provide an opportunity to explore those which must have been the most remarkable characteristics of the outskirts of caracas by the late 18th century. as other produced by the town council and the governor of the province, such normative was aimed at regulating and controlling the population?s social behavior. in this article, serve to the analysis of the spatial and functional shaping of the city outskirts, also known as arrabales.
