Chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of the volatile oil of Eucalyptus sargentii Maiden cultivated in central Iran

Abstract: Eighteen components were identified from the leaves oil of Eucalyptus sargentii Maiden, which were collected in the autumn from Kashan (Isfahan Province, Iran) by GC and GC-MS, representing 98.0% of total oil. The main constituents of the oil were 1,8-cineole (55.48 %), α--pinene (20.95 %), aromadendrene (6.45 %), and trans-pinocarveol (5.92%). In vitro antimicrobial activity of the oil of E. sargentii was tested against three Gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis), five Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Shigella dysenteriae) bacteria, and two fungi (Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans). The results of the bioassay showed that the oil exhibited moderate to high antimicrobial activity.
Antimicrobial and antifungal properties of the essential oil and methanol extracts of Eucalyptus largiflorens and Eucalyptus intertexta

Abstract: This study was conducted to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial properties of essential oil, its major component, 1,8-cineole, and extracts of two Eucalyptus species, Eucalyptus intertexta and Eucalyptus largiflorens. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extracts was calculated by broth dilution method and the zone of inhibition was studied by agar disk diffusion method. Gentamicin (10 μg/disk) and rifampin (5 μg/disk) were used as reference controls for antibacterial studies and nystatin (100 μg/disk) for antifungal studies. The results of MIC study revealed that the essential oil has a stronger activity and broader spectrum than those of methanol extracts. It is interesting to point out that the oils had even greater potential of antimicrobial activities than those of 1,8-cineole as their main component.
Synthesis of some 3,5-diarylisoxazoline derivatives in ionic liquids media

Abstract: Biologically active isoxazoline derivatives were efficiently synthesized in excellent yields and in less reaction time using mild, effective and environmentally friendly butylmethylimidazolium bromide as solvent and catalyst. By use of this catalyst isoxazoline derivatives are produced via cyclization reaction of chalcone and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in ionic liquids media. The separation of the product was facile and the catalyst could be separated and recycled. Our method is very quick, safe and avoids the use of hazardous and expensive reagents and solvents.

Abstract: The production of triazinyl fluorescent brightener intermediates in high yields is described. The method involves a simplified work-up for the preparation of 4-nitro-toluene-2-sulfonic acid and the use of diethylene glycol instead of water in the preparation of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid.

Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(H2O)6][Ni3(C7H3NO4)4(H2O)4]·8H2O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexahydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH2) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different NiII atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H2O)6]2+ cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)2]2-μ-Ni(H2O)4}2 anion are centrosymmetric. All NiII atoms exhibit an octahedral coordination geometry. Various interactions, including numerous O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—O...π stacking of the pyridine and carboxylate groups [3.570 (1), 3.758 (1) and 3.609 (1) ], are observed in the crystal structure.

Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(C7H3NO4)(C12H8N2)(H2O)]·C7H5NO4·4H2O or [Ni(pydc)(phen)(H2O)].pydcH2·4H2O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexahydrate with the proton-transfer compound (phenH)2(pydc) (phen is 1,10-phenanothroline and pydcH2 is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solution. Both the cationic and anionic portions of the starting proton-transfer compound are involved in the complexation. The NiII atom has a distorted octahedral geometry and is hexacoordinated by three O atoms and three N atoms from one phen fragment (as a bidentate ligand), one (pydc)2 unit (as a tridentate ligand) and one water molecule. In the crystal structure, extensive O—H...O, O—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen bonds with D...A distances ranging from 2.573 (2) to 3.385 (2) , π–π interactions between the phen ring systems [with centroid–centroid distances of 3.4694 (12), 3.4781 (11) and 3.8310 (11) ] and intermolecular C—O...π interactions [C...π distances of 3.4812 (17), 3.5784 (16) and 3.5926 (16) ] connect the various components together.

Abstract: Graph theory provides an elegant and natural representation of molecular symmetry and the resulting group expressed in terms of permutations is isomorphic to the permutation-inversion group of Longuet-Higgins. In this paper, using the group theory package GAP, the character table and the automorphism group of the Euclidean graph of tetrahydroxycalix[4]arenes were computed.
Studying the Effect of Leader’s Participative Behaviors on Employee’s Effectiveness Perception and Performance (Kohdasht Municipality as Case Study)

Abstract: This study was aimed to study the effect of leader’s participative behaviors on employee’s perception of effectiveness and performance. In order to this, the variables of this study are participative behaviors (participative management), employee’s performance, and effectiveness perception. The last variable is multi-dimensional that could divide into three dimensions including leader effectiveness, collective effectiveness, and self-effectiveness. This study is descriptive-survey from methodology perspective and is practical from goal perspective. The statistical population of this study is 105 employees of Kohdasht municipality. In order to determine sample size, Morgan table used and 83 employees were chosen as sample members. A self-administrated questionnaire developed to gather data with Likert 5-points scale. This includes 36 items about participative behaviors, leader’s effectiveness, collective effectiveness, self-effectiveness, and employee’s performance. In order to examine reliability of the questionnaire, Cronbach’s Alpha was used. The coefficient of this test was 0.91 for this questionnaire and shows that the questionnaire has good reliability and hence reliability of the questionnaire confirmed. Also the questionnaire correct and modified by some of management professors and after conducting a primary sampling, final version of the questionnaire developed. Therefore, validity of the questionnaire confirmed through content validity. In order to analyze data and concluding results, descriptive statistic and inferential statists were used. Regressions test and Pearson correlation test is the main statistical test that used for this purpose. The results of this study indicate that there are significant relationships between leader’s participative behavior and employee’s performance. Also the results show that significant there are significant relationships between perception of collective effectiveness and employee’s performance. Also the results show that there are significant relationships between perception of self-effectiveness and employee’s performance. Finally some empirical suggestions offered for managers and officials of Kohdasht municipality.
Ultrasound-assisted synthesis of dihydropyrimidine-2-thiones

Abstract: Chalcone derivatives were prepared by the condensation of various substituted aryl aldehydes and acetophenone in alkaline ethanol, while pyrimidine-2-thione derivatives were prepared by the combination of chalcones and thiourea under conventional and ultrasonic conditions. Advantages of the ultrasound effect were observed and high yields of the products were obtained after 20–30 min sonication. Characterization and structural elucidation of the products was realized based on chemical, analytical and spectral analyses. The results clearly demonstrated a high efficiency of the ultrasonic systems was achieved in the chemical processes.

Abstract: The present paper is aimed to study the effect of Gaussian laser light on first and second sound waves in superfluid helium theoretically using optoacoustic method. The mechanism applied in this study is electrostriction mechanism. This study considers crystal parts of superfluid helium with a zero absorption coefficient applying electrostriction mechanism. Affecting Gaussian laser light on these crystal parts, a spectrum of cylindrical first and second sound waves and cylindrical slow and rapid waves is obtained. Meanwhile, frequency of waves amplitudes proportionate to time period of laser light is calculated.
