Abstract: Electricity is one of the most widely used forms of energy. Being a renewable source of energy small hydropower is considered as an environment—friendly and cheap source of electricity. The installation cost of the small hydropower project depends mainly on two parts—civil works and electromechanical equipment. One of the most important element on the recovery of a small hydro-power plant is the electromechanical equipment (turbine-alternator). The present paper intends to develop a correlation to determine the cost based on the cost influencing parameters as power and head using three different methods, namely; sigma plot method, linest method and logest method. An attempt has also been made to identify the best correlation among the three models closer to the actual cost of electro-mechanical equipment as collected from recently developed projects.

Abstract: The health service system is the part of the political system. Likewise, political systems should be an integral part of the health system. Contrary to this, local political tussle, national level power conflicts, long-term civil war, and crises in the bureaucracy have led to the continuous ignorance of people’s health issues in Rolpa. War is always detrimental for people's health, health service system and social well-being of the population. The chronic condition of exclusion prevalent in large section of the society is the “favorable” fertile ground to capitalize the expectations toward inclusive and healthy condition in Rolpa. The process of capitalizing such historical exclusion in the name of “revolution” gives rise to new sects of political actors. However, rising expectations and aspirations toward “equitable society” have been resulting in severe frustrations because no significant changes have been done to address the general living conditions of people. The continuous rise and fall of expectations after all lead to infinitive journey of producing ill health that could be extremely detrimental to people's expectation, even to live a normal life as a human.
Low Cost Data Acquisition System for Students

Abstract: Today the engineering education in India is increasing, so the demand of quality projects and quality research at the students level is also increasing. To make good hardware projects most of the time we need to acquire real time data. This acquisition is done through the dedicated device which is called Data Acquisition Device. In India there are very less no. of companies which are making the Data Acquisition Devices and the available devices are very costly for the students. Hence, there is need to provide students a cost effective or low cost device which can suite according to their proposed work. In this paper we have designed and implemented a prototype of Data Acquisition Device (DAQ) using AVR microcontroller. The software for the DAQ device has been mode on MATLAB and LabView and the device has been tested for different tasks and under different conditions
SSPred: A prediction server based on SVM for the identification and classification of proteins involved in bacterial secretion systems

Abstract: Protein secretion systems used by almost all bacteria are highly significant for the normal existence and interaction of bacteria with their host. The accumulation of genome sequence data in past few years has provided great insights into the distribution and function of these secretion systems. In this study, a support vector machine (SVM)- based method, SSPred was developed for the automated functional annotation of proteins involved in secretion systems further classifying them into five major sub-types (Type-I, Type-II, Type-III, Type-IV and Sec systems). The dataset used in this study for training and testing was obtained from KEGG and SwissProt database and was curated in order to avoid redundancy. To overcome the problem of imbalance in positive and negative dataset, an ensemble of SVM modules, each trained on a balanced subset of the training data were used. Firstly, protein sequence features like amino-acid composition (AAC), dipeptide composition (DPC) and physico-chemical composition (PCC) were used to develop the SVM-based modules that achieved an average accuracy of 84%, 85.17% and 82.59%, respectively. Secondly, a hybrid module (hybrid-I) integrating all the previously used features was developed that achieved an average accuracy of 86.12%. Another hybrid module (hybrid-II) developed using evolutionary information of a protein sequence extracted from position-specific scoring matrix and amino-acid composition achieved a maximum average accuracy of 89.73%. On unbiased evaluation using an independent data set, SSPred showed good prediction performance in identification and classification of secretion systems. SSPred is a freely available World Wide Web server at http//www.bioinformatics.org/sspred.

Abstract: In wireless sensor networks, sensors or nodes are generally battery powered devices. These nodes have limited amount of initial energy that are consumed at different rates, depending on the power level. For maximizing the lifetime of these nodes, most routing algorithm in wireless sensor networks uses the energy efficient path. These energy efficient routing algorithms select a best path for data transmission and consume less energy. But a single best path puts extra load to a specific node causing lower lifetime. The lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is crucial. . In this paper, we have compared some strategies that balance the energy consumption of these nodes and ensure maximum network lifetime by balancing the load as equally as possible.
