Abstract: The dislocation structure of directionally solidified(DS)Rene 80 superalloy during tensileand creep deformation has been studied by TEM.In tensile deformation,γ'shearing occurs byslip of APB-coupled(1/2)<110>dislocation pairs on{111}planes at temperatures below760℃.and by slip of SISF-seperated(1/3)<112>superpartials which have dissociated on{111}planes into a(1/2)<110>screw superpartial and a(1/6)<112>edgesuperpartial with an APB in between at temperatures equal to or above 760℃.In creepdeformation,γ'shearing occurs again by slip of SISF-seperated(1/3)<112>superpartialswhich have not dissociated on{111}planes and by diffusive slip of APB-coupled(1/2)<110>dislocation pairs at 760℃,618 MPa.However,no γ'shearing occurs at 980℃,190MPa.During secondary creep at 760℃,618 MPa or at 980℃,190 MPa,2-dimensional net-works have formed at γ/γ'interfaces,and the strain is mainly the result of diffusion control-led climb of dislocation networks at γ/γ'interfaces.The dependence of secondary creep rate εupon size a and volume fraction v_■ of cubic γ' has been found to be ■∝α/v_f~(2/3).

Abstract: The Nb single crystals of both321]and110]orientations have been cyclicly deformed in tension-compression at constant strain rate 8×10~(-4)s~(-1)over a range of plastic strain amplitudes between 10~(-3)and 10~(-4).The cyclic hardening,the changes in shape of crystals and the asymmetry of stress have been studied.The hardening curve can be divided into three stages,i.e.first,rapid-hardening and saturated stage. In the first stage of cyclic hardening curve dominant features of dislocation configura- tions are high density networks and debris loops.In the rapid-hardening stage the main fea- ture is the formation of dislocation bundles.In the saturated a well defined bundle structure fully develops and between them it is filled with only screw dislocations and the imposed strain is accommodated mainly by the motion of screw dislocations travelling to and from between the bundles.Three-dimension cell,two-dimension cell or bundle structures are summarized as the saturated structures of bcc metals.

Abstract: The embedded atom type potentials and static relaxation method combined with steepest gra- dient computational technique have been used to simulate the grain boundary cohesive ener- gies,the distribution of electron density and stress field in the grain boundary,region,and oth- er related problems of100],110]and111]symmetric tilt grain boundaries in Ni_3Al with different grain boundary geometrical index and composition.Their relations with the segrega- tion or boron,behaviors or the grain boundary,and especially the stoichiometrical effect of B induced ductility have also been studied and discussed.

Abstract: The deformation behaviours of Ni_3Al alloys with various chemical compositions and subjected to different heat treatments were in situ observed under SEM. Moreover,in situ observations of slip trace were supplemented by the direct observation of dislocation arrangements under TEM.In B-doped Ni_3Al alloys it is shown that close to the grain boundary there exists a thin slip transition region,within which slip lines are reoriented or other slip systems are operated to produce a local strain accommodation and to relax the stress concentration at grain bound- aries.Boron seems to lower the stress for dislocation generation from the grain boundaries or to ease the cross-slip close to the boundaries,and also to increase the number of dislocation sources.However,B-enhenced ductility is seriously affected by stoichiometry,the addition of a tertiary alloy element and heat treatment,etc..

Abstract: Influence of tensile stress on the composition of surface oxides on the alloys Ni-23Al-0.5Zr-0.1B and Ni-17Al-8Cr-0.5Zr-0.1B(at.-%) was studied. NiO content in the oxide scale may increase obviously under tensile stress. Thermodynamic analyses shows that, during oxidation, the volume expansion of Ni and Al are different, and the tensile stress may influence the enrichment of NiO in oxide scales so as to reduce the elastic deformation energy.

Abstract: The effect of austenitizing temperature on segregation of impurities along grain boundaries insteel 4330M has been examined by AES.The impurity segregation was computedquantitatively.Results showed that the quantity of impurity segregation changed with theaustenitizing temperature.The limitation of the McLean′s expression for equilibrium segrega-tion was discussed.
