Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C22H24FN3O4, the two fused rings of furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine form a dihedral angle of 0.88 (13)°. The attached benzene ring is twisted with respect to the heterocyclic pyrimidinone ring, making a dihedral angle of 75.07 (12)°. The cyclohexyl ring shows a distorted chair conformation. The molecular structure is stabilized by intramolecular C—H...O and C—H...N hydrogen-bonding interactions. The crystal packing is mainly stabilized by C—H...π hydrogen-bond interactions. Further stability is provided by C—F...π and C—O...π stacking interactions.
Investigating the English Proficiency of Learners: A Corpus-Based Study of Contrastive Discourse Markers in China  [PDF]

Abstract: Discourse markers signal the relationship between the neighboring sentences. The present comparative study investigates the use of Contrastive Discourse Markers between Chinese English learners and native speakers based on corpus data. Special attention is allocated to but and however, since these two small words are the most popular discourse markers in Chinese English Learners and Native Speakers. Quantitative and qualitative analyses indicate that both groups prefer to employ discourse markers like but, although, (even) though, however, etc. when signaling a contrastive relationship between S1 and S2, though they have different priorities in different contextual situation; besides, but is overused significantly by Chinese English Learners to signal a contrastive relationship rather than add further information in context; lastly, Chinese English Learner usually employs however at the beginning of the sentence, while native speakers put it both at the beginning or middle of the sentences, which both signal the relationship between topics and messages. The findings also suggest that more detailed instructions should be delivered on the procedural meanings and syntactical positions of Contrastive Discourse Markers used in context.
Inquiry diagnosis of coronary heart disease in Chinese medicine based on symptom-syndrome interactions

Abstract: Relative associated density (RAD) was used to analyze the one-way links between the symptoms or syndromes or both. RAD results were further used in symptom selection.Analysis of a dataset of clinical CHD diagnosis revealed some significant relationships, not only between syndromes but also between symptoms and syndromes. Using RAD to select symptoms based on different classifiers improved the accuracy of syndrome prediction. Compared with other traditional symptom selection methods, RAD provided a higher interpretability of the CM data.The RAD method is effective for CM clinical data analysis, particular for analysis of relationships between symptoms in diagnosis and generation of compact and comprehensible symptom feature subsets.Western medicine classifies coronary heart disease (CHD) as a kind of myocardial dysfunction and organic lesion, occasionally accompanied by coronary artery stenosis and vertebrobasilar insufficiency [1]. In contrast, Chinese medicine (CM) classifies CHD as a type of chest paralysis and heart pain, for which effective diagnosis and treatment are available [2].CM treatment is based primarily on syndrome differentiation and physiology and pathology of Zang-fu organs and meridians. In CM, a symptom represents an observable indicator of abnormality, while a syndrome is the disease state manifested by symptoms. The connections between symptoms and syndromes in CM are not clearly defined. Therefore, it is necessary to delineate different relationships between symptoms and syndromes and explain the diagnosis results in comprehensible terms [3].Machine learning builds empirical models on data for analysis and forecasting, which has recently been used for CM data analysis. Huang and Gao [4] reviewed several classifiers of data mining in CM. Li and Huang [5] used fuzzy neural network for analysis of CM ingredients. Wang et al. The Biarc Approximation of Planar NURBS Curve and Its Offset

Abstract: The planar offset curve cannot be expressed as rational parametric curve in gene ral excepta few types of curves such as line, arc, Hodograghs etc. In practice, the offset curve usually is approximated by lower degree rational polynomial cur ve in order to have the unified expression of data structure and geometric algor ithm in the commercial modeling systems. In this paper, an approximation approac h to NURBS (non-uniform rational B-spline) curve and its offset is presented b y using biarc. The biarc approximation of offset curve is simplified to biarc ap proximation to original curve. Some important and key problems, such as the reas onable selection of split points in NURBS curve, the definition of cotangent poi nt of biarc and error estimate method, are discussed. Examples verify the effici ency and reliability of the algorithms, which are implemented in the commercial geometric modeling systems Gems5.0 developed by CAD Center of Tsinghua University.
Expression of COX-2 and Bcl-2 in primary fallopian tube carcinoma: correlations with clinicopathologic features

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of COX-2 and Bcl-2 in primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC), as well as their correlations with clinicopathologic features. We studied a cohort of 33 patients with a pathological diagnosis of PFTC. Thirty normal tubal tissues used for controls were obtained from patients diagnosed with uterine myomas. Expression analysis for COX-2 and Bcl-2 was performed using the immunohistochemical technique. The rate of preoperative diagnosis was 18.2%. With a median survival of 61.0 months (95% CI: 43.2 to 78.8 months), the estimated five-year overall survival rate in the 33 patients was 39.0%. Increased expression of COX-2 and Bcl-2 was observed in tumor specimens compared to normal controls (p = 0.026; p = 0.003). The expression rate of COX-2 in node-positive tumors was significantly higher than that of node-negative tumors (p = 0.024). Moreover, the expression rate of COX-2 was statistically significantly higher in patients with infiltration through the serosa (p = 0.019). Positive significant associations were observed between Bcl-2 staining index and FIGO stage (p = 0.015), and between Bcl-2 staining and lymph node metastasis (p = 0.010). There was a significant correlation between COX-2 expression and Bcl-2 staining index (r = 0.517, p = 0.002). We conclude that COX-2 and Bcl-2 may potentially be useful prognostic markers for PFTC. The exact molecular mechanism for correlations between COX-2 and Bcl-2 remains to be elucidated. (Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica 2011, Vol. 49, No. 3, 389–397)

Abstract: this article discussed that how does Taiwan deal with the trend and demands of Chinese learning in globalization when “Chinese century” is coming in 21 century. It is because that there was no strong competition in Chinese market, Taiwan had been the main destination that people studied the Chinese in the world before the reform and opening-up of China’s Mainland. Taiwan always keeps stable amount that people come here and learn the Chinese in Taiwan. Taiwan has trained hundreds and thousands of Chinese talents for more than one hundred countries in the world. However, in the pass 20 years, because of the economic grows of China, this change leading the global fever in Chinese. The global market of Chinese teaching suffer unprecedented impacts and challenges because most of the international personage turned to the continent area, where the living stander was improved fast, studying Chinese. If we analyzed with the concept “this is a sound right to international nation when we own the advantages Chinese teaching in the world”, Taiwan loses international visibility gradually. How to deal with this great challenge and how much will Taiwan do hard-working in this field? What kinds of fault will produce? All questions we will find in this text. Besides, Taiwan will gain what kind of advantages in the upsurge of “fever for Chinese” in the future. How does Taiwan to improve the foreign market of Chinese teaching and the stresses of international. This is a point of view this text wanted to point it. Different Roles of Mast Cells in Obesity and Diabetes: Lessons from Experimental Animals and Humans

Abstract: Mast cells (MCs) play an important role in allergic hyperresponsiveness and in defending microorganism infections. Recent studies of experimental animals and humans have suggested that MCs participate in obesity and diabetes. MC distribution and activities in adipose tissues may vary, depending on the locations of different adipose tissues. In addition to releasing inflammatory mediators to affect adipose tissue extracellular matrix remodeling and to promote inflammatory cell recruitment and proliferation, MCs directly and indirectly interact and activate adipose tissue cells, including adipocytes and recruited inflammatory cells. Plasma MC protease levels are significantly higher in obese patients than in lean subjects. Experimental obese animals lose body weight after MC inactivation. MC functions in diabetes are even more complicated, and depend on the type of diabetes and on different diabetic complications. Both plasma MC proteases and MC activation essential immunoglobulin E levels are significant risk factors for human pre-diabetes and diabetes mellitus. MC stabilization prevents diet-induced diabetes and improves pre-established diabetes in experimental animals. MC depletion or inactivation can improve diet-induced type 2 diabetes and some forms of type 1 diabetes, but also can worsen other forms of type 1 diabetes, at least in experimental animals. Observations from animal and human studies have suggested beneficial effects of treating diabetic patients with MC stabilizers. Some diabetic patients may benefit from enhancing MC survival and proliferation – hypotheses that merit detailed basic researches and clinical studies.
Recenct progress in electricigens and microbial fuel cell

Abstract: The discovery of Electricigens substantially changed the meaning of Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) and exhibited a broad prospect for application. This kind microorganism can completely oxidize organic compounds with electrode as sole electron acceptor and then transfer the electrons derived from that oxidation onto the anode of a MFC through electron transport chain. When the electrons transfer from anode to cathode, the current was generated continuously. At same time, they gain energy to support their growth from the electron transport. The biochemical metabolism process was considered as a new type microbiological respiration. Based on the new concept, MFC offered the possibility of efficient treatment waste-water and generation electricity simultaneously, which would fuel the waste-water into a profitable industry in the future. So the application of MFC in the waste-water treatment would be most promising.
