Detection of minijet production in $\sqrt{s}$=1.8 TeV proton-antiproton collisions with multi-particle transverse energy correlation functions

Abstract: Multi-particle transverse energy correlation(MTEC) functions are proposed to study minijet production in high energy proton-antiproton collisions. Obtainable with both the D0 and the CDF detector, the high-order MTEC functions are shown to be sensitive probes of jet internal structure as well as promising observables of detecting minijet production in $\sqrt{s}$=1.8 TeV $p\bar{p}$ collisions.
Decoherence dynamics of open qubit systems

Abstract: The thesis is contributed to the study of the decoherence dynamics of dissipative qubit systems. We reveal the profound impact of the formation of a bound state between the qubit and its local environment on the decoherence dynamics of qubit system in non-Markovian regime. We find that the decoherence can be suppressed greatly under the non-Markovian dynamics when the bound state is formed. Consequently, the entanglement can be partially preserved in the steady state. A criterion on this decoherence/disentanglement suppression is given explicitly. It can give a useful guideline on the decoherence control in experiment. We also find that the entanglement can be stably distributed among all components and particularly it always satisfies an identity. Our unified treatment includes the previous results in the literatures as special cases. The result reveals the profound nature of the entanglement and should have significant implications for quantum information processing.
Atmospheric Correction for Chinese Coastal Turbid Waters Using Iteration and Optimization Method

Abstract: 中国近岸水体泥沙含量较高,且变化梯度大;泥沙浓度可从几千mg/l变化到1mg/l以下。针对上述浑浊二类水体的大气修正一直是水色遥感应用的难点之一。利用水体近红外固有光学特性的Arnone光谱迭代算法在泥沙含量较低时适用,其近红外光谱迭代关系与根据2003年春季黄东海水色试验数据得出的现场光谱关系大致相当。当泥沙含量达到某一程度时,该算法失效,导致蓝光等较短波段的离水辐亮度为负。根据现场数据分析结果,这一分界点大概在泥沙浓度10—20mg/l。因此,本文首次提出将中国近岸浑浊水体进一步区分为中低和中高浑浊水体,并给出初步的划分标准,采用光谱优化方法对中高浑浊水体进行水色大气修正。优化误差函数的选取以现场试验获取的可见光波段光谱关系式为基础。结果表明,优化算法在近岸高浑浊水体可给出满足光谱分布规律的反演结果。与其他大气校正方法一样,优化方法也需要进一步的微调。将Gordon标准算法、Arnone光谱迭代和优化方法结合,对SeaWiFS图像进行处理,分别得出归一化离水辐亮度和总悬浮物(TSM)浓度分布图像,结果令人满意。
Analysis of petroleum-polluted water absorption spectral properties

Abstract: Petroleum pollutions exist in waters in various forms, which impacts its apparent optical properties and inherent optical properties. Field works has been carried out in the rivers in Panjin city, Liaoning province of China in May 2008 in order to understand this impact. The absorption coefficient data of yellow substance, De-pigment particles and phytoplankton pigments and the corresponding water samples for laboratory measurements of chlorophyll, petroleum pollutions, and suspended material were collected. Firstly, absorption spectral features of yellow substance, De-pigment particles and phytoplankton pigments in Case II water were analyzed. Secondly, the absorption spectral properties of yellow substance and phytoplankton pigments with petroleum pollutions were discussed. Finally, the impact of petroleum pollutions on water absorption properties was analyzed using the method of algebraic difference. The results showed that (1) whether there is petroleum substance or not in water body, the absorption spectra of yellow substance and de-pigment particles all follow e-exponential attenuation trend in the research region; (2) with the presence of petroleum pollution, the absorption coefficients of yellow substance and phytoplankton pigments are both increased; (3) the absorption spectral feature of petroleum pollution appears similar to those of the yellow substance and de-pigment particles by following an e-exponential attenuation trend. However, it is feasible to distinguish them because their spectral exponential slopes have obvious difference.

Abstract: This paper proposed a dimension reduction algorithm based on LPP and LDA, which not only utilized that LPP could preserve locality, but also took into account that the LDA made the data more discriminant and thus made classification mare easier. The proposed algorithm was linear, which could map the out of sample data to the target space easily. Experiments in face recognition validate the correctness and effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract: AIM: To investigate whether hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection activates DNA damage response and DNA repair cofactors inhibit HBV infection and replication.METHODS: Human hepatocyte cell line HL7702 was studied. Immunoblotting was performed to test the expression of ataxia telangiectasia-mutated (ATM)-Rad3-related protein (ATR), p21 and the level of phosphorylation of Chk1, p53, H2AX, ATM in HBV-infected or non-infected-cells. Special short RNAi oligos was transfected to induce transient ATR knockdown in HL7702. ATR-ATM chemical inhibitors caffeine (CF) and theophylline (TP), or Chk1 inhibitor 7-hydroxystaurosporine (UCN01) was studied to determine whether they suppress cellular DNA damage response and MG132 inhibits proteasome.RESULTS: The ATR checkpoint pathway, responding to single-strand breaks in DNA, was activated in response to HBV infection. ATR knockdown cells decreased the HBV DNA yields, implying that HBV infection and replication could activate and exploit the activated DNA damage response. CF/TP or UCN01 reduced the HBV DNA yield by 70% and 80%, respectively. HBV abrogated the ATR-dependent DNA damage signaling pathway by degrading p21, and introduction of the p21 protein before HBV infection reduced the HBV DNA yield. Consistent with this result, p21 accumulation after MG132 treatment also sharply decreased the HBV DNA yield.CONCLUSION: HBV infection can be treated with therapeutic approaches targeting host cell proteins by inhibiting a cellular gene required for HBV replication or by restoring a response abrogated by HBV, thus providing a potential approach to the prevention and treatment of HBV infection.

Abstract: Twenty three kinds of typical plants in Xishuangbanna, the tropical area of southwestern China, were screened to estimate the emission rates of isoprene and monoterpenes by adopting bag enclosure and curette sampling methods followed by a GC FID analysis. It was found that the Ficus species were mainly emitting isoprene and most tropical vegetations were mainly releasing monoterpenes. The results also showed that the emissions of isoprene were affected by both temperature and PAR(Photosynthetic Active Radiation), while monoterpene emissions were mainly temperature dependent.

Abstract: The HY-1 satellite is the first satellite for remote sensing of ocean environment in China and COCTS is one of the main sensor.Striping noise is unavoidable for most data of the COCTS because each detector's response to radiant signal is different.The striping noise can seriously affects the quality of image and quantitative application of COCTS data.In order to decrease this effect we try to remove these stripes in COCTS images using moment matching correction and histogram matching correction in this paper.The final results indicate these two methods are both effective,but considering the overall effect,the histogram matching correction is better.The result of this study is also applicable in striping removal of other multisensor's remote sensing data.
