A new approach for epileptic seizure detection: sample entropy based feature extraction and extreme learning machine  [PDF]

Abstract: The electroencephalogram (EEG) signal plays a key role in the diagnosis of epilepsy. Substantial data is generated by the EEG recordings of ambulatory recording systems, and detection of epileptic activity requires a time-consuming analysis of the complete length of the EEG time series data by a neurology expert. A variety of automatic epilepsy detection systems have been developed during the last ten years. In this paper, we investigate the potential of a recently-proposed statistical measure parameter regarded as Sample Entropy (SampEn), as a method of feature extraction to the task of classifying three different kinds of EEG signals (normal, interictal and ictal) and detecting epileptic seizures. It is known that the value of the SampEn falls suddenly during an epileptic seizure and this fact is utilized in the proposed diagnosis system. Two different kinds of classification models, back-propagation neural network (BPNN) and the recently-developed extreme learning machine (ELM) are tested in this study. Results show that the proposed automatic epilepsy detection system which uses sample entropy (SampEn) as the only input feature, together with extreme learning machine (ELM) classification model, not only achieves high classification accuracy (95.67%) but also very fast speed.

Abstract: When the Grover’s algorithm is applied to search an unordered database, the successful probability usually decreases with the increase of marked items. In order to solve this problem, an adaptive phase matching is proposed. With application of the new phase matching, when the fraction of marked items is greater , the successful probability is equal to 1 with at most two Grover iterations. The validity of the new phase matching is verified by a search example.

Abstract:

We consider the singularly perturbed sixth-order Boussinesq-type equation, which describes the bidirectional propagation of small amplitude and long capillary gravity waves on the surface of shallow water for bond number (surface tension parameter) less than but very close to 1/3. The sufficient conditions of blow-up of solution to the Cauchy problem for this equation are given.

Abstract: In the title compound, [Sn(C2H2O2S)2(C2H6OS)2], the mercaptoacetato ligands chelate to SnIV through S and one O atoms. The metal centre is also coordinated by two dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ligands through the O atom, leading to an overall distorted octahedral coordination environment for the SnIV atom. Abstract: The present outsourcing management mode of travel hotels has caused attention of the global hotel industry. Though the application of outsourcing modes, we can renew and combine hotels’ structure, making hotels centralize their market superiority and enterprise core competitiveness. This thesis mainly discusses Chinese hotel enterprises’ outsourcing strategic modes and corresponding development conception. Firstly, it analyzes the outsourcing strategy concept and the theory frame; secondly, it expounds hotels’ several outsourcing strategic modes; thirdly, it summarizes the effect and significance of Chinese hotel outsourcing strategic modes. Microstructures and Properties of Recycled Composites – Particle Reinforced Iron Matrix Functionally Graded Materials Fabricated by Centrifugal Casting  [PDF]

Abstract: Microstructures and properties of recycled composites ring parts containing cast tungsten carbide particles (CTCp) in a bainitic matrix fabricated from dead or waste composites roll rings by centrifugal casting after remelting treatment, have been tested using SEM, EDS and XRD analyses as well as mechanical property testers. The test results show that the CTCp surface were partially dissolved into the liquid iron at 1650 ºC during remelting. The undissolved CTCp in the Fe melt moved towards the outer region under the action of the centrifugal force during casting, which caused the formation of outer reinforced region and inner unreinforced region along the radial direction of the parts. SEM observation displays that the undissolved CTCp distribution in the outer region is even, and the volume fraction of them is increased with increasing rotational speed of the mold. Besides, mechanical tests of the parts show that the outer region exhibits superior hardness, and the inner region has sufficient impact toughness; the volume fraction of CTCP influences the mechanical properties. The dissolution-reprecipition of CTCP during centrifugal casting was also discussed.
