Abstract: North-south displacements and meridional vacillations of the eddy-driven jet are widely accepted as the dominant cause of variability of the observational zonal-mean zonal wind anomalies(denoted u]’).In this study,a new idea regarding the primary variability of the observational u]’ in the middle latitude troposphere is presented.It is hypothesized that there are two different classes of primary variability of the observational u]’:the poleward propagation of the u]’(abbreviated as PP) and meridional vacillations.To validate this hypothesis,one-point correlation maps of u]’ at 200-hPa during the boreal cold season(November-April) of every year from 1957-2002 are used as a criterion.Twelve PP years,in which the PP events are dominant in the variability of u]’,and 15 no_PP years,in which the PP events are recessive and the meridional vacillations are dominant in the variability of u]’,are examined.The results show that the variabilities of u]’ are different in the chosen PP and no_PP years.In the PP years,the PP events dominate the variability of u]’;however,the meridional vacillations are prevalent in the no_PP years.

Abstract: Doubly stacked nanocrystalline-Si (nc-Si) based metal insulator semiconductor memory structure was fabricated by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) and capacitance-time (C-t) measurements were used to investigate electron tunnel, storage and discharging characteristic. The C-V results show that the flatband voltage increases at first, then decreases and finally increases, exhibiting a clear deep at gate voltage of 9 V. The de-creasing of flatband voltage at moderate programming bias is attributed to the transfer of electrons from the lower nc-Si layer to the upper nc-Si layer. The C-t measurement results show that the charges transfer in the structure strongly de-pends on the hold time and the flatband voltage decreases markedly with increasing the hold time.

Abstract: We show a potential eavesdropper can eavesdrop whole secret information when the legitimate users use secure carrier to encode and decode classical information repeatedly in the protocol [proposed in Bagherinezhad S and Karimipour V 2003 Phys. Rev. A \textbf{67} 044302]. Then we present a revised quantum secret sharing protocol by using Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state as secure carrier. Our protocol can resist Eve's attack.

Abstract: In this paper, a type of integrable evolution equation--the generalized Landau-Lifshitz equation into $S^n$ is considered. We deal with this equation from a geometric point of view by rewriting it in a geometric form. Through the geometric energy method, we show the global well-posedness of the corresponding Cauchy problem.

Abstract: The As-level topology is a hotspot of the recent reseaches. We can understand the centralization of the network clearly by researching the evolvement trend of the Internet macroscopic topology. The massive data we use in this paper is from CAIDA (The Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis) Skitter project. And the time span of the data is from July, 2001 to January, 2008. This paper introduces the background of the AS-level topology at first, then carries out the evolvement of degree, core and layer. It is believed that the influence of the top-degree nodes on the other nodes decreases and the centralization of network is going to fall off with the decrease of the core. And the nucleus status of network declines.

Abstract: Accuracy measurement of the Non-soluble Deposit Density (NSDD) on the insulator surface is very important for the transmission line anti-pollution flashover works. A method to measure the NSDD on double sheds porcelain insulator surface based on laser transmission principle is proposed in this paper. Laser unit and luminous intensity sensor are installed between the up and down surface of the double sheds porcelain insulators, two glass tablets are put between the double sheds. The contamination on the glass tablets will influence the luminous intensity that reaches the intensity sensor. The luminous signal is changed to electrical signal, and the insulator’s NSDD could be obtained based on the difference of luminous intensity. The device can be used in online monitoring of the insulator's NSDD condition on the insulator surface.

Abstract: The conformations of four β-amino acids in a model peptide environment were investigated using Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) methods in gas phase and with solvation. Initial structures were obtained by varying dihedral angles in increments of 45° in the range 0° - 360°. Stable geometries were optimized at both levels of theory with the correlation consistent double-zeta basis set with polarization functions (cc-pVDZ). The results suggest that solvation generally stabilizes the conformations relative to the gas phase and that intramolecular hydrogen bonding may play an important role in the stability of the conformations. The β3 structures, in which the R-group of the amino acid is located on the carbon atom next to the N-terminus, are somewhat more stable relative to each other than the β2 structures which have the R-group on the carbon next to the carbonyl.

Abstract: Based on the amino acid composition of the proteins, the nearest neighbour algorithm by using three distance functions,i, e. , Euclidean distance, Minkowski distance and generalized distance, was developed for predicting the protein subcellular location. The results show that such an approach is novel, simple and effective.
