K-quantum Nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings Model in Two Trapped Ions

Abstract: A k-quantum nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model for two trapped ions interacting with laser beams resonant to k-th red side-band of center-of-mass mode, far from Lamb-Dicke regime, has been obtained. The exact analytic solution showed the existence of quantum collapses and revivals of the occupation of two atoms.

Abstract: We show a natural form of the interaction between unparticle and supersymmetry. Using the couplings of unparticle to supersymmetry presented, as examples, we calculate the differential decay rates for the processes ${\it {\tilde f}}\to {\it f}+{\cal U}_{3/2}$, ${\it {\tilde \chi}}^0\to{\it \gamma}+{\cal U}_{3/2}$, ${\it {\tilde \chi}}^\pm\to W^\pm+{\cal U}_{3/2}$ and ${\it {\tilde \chi}}^0\to Z^0+{\cal U}_{3/2}$. Finally, we discuss the phenomenological implication of our results and give some comments.

Abstract: Cold state experiment and numerical simulation are carried out to study particle deposition process. The deposit mass can be divided into two parts, one directly collides with the wall and the other is brought by the backflow. The deposit flux increases with the increase of gas flow rate or water flow rate or both, and decreases with the increase of the central channel gas flow rate.
Use of the Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition to Fabricate Light-Emitting Diodes Based on ZnO Nanowire/p-GaN Heterojunction

Abstract: The fabrication and characteristics of grown ZnO nanowire/p-GaN heterojunction light-emitting diodes are reported. Vertically aligned ZnO nanowire arrays were grown on a p-GaN substrate by thermal chemical vapor deposition in quartz tube. The rectifying current-voltage characteristics indicate that a p-n junction was formed with a heterostructure of n-ZnO nanowire/p-GaN. The room temperature electroluminescent emission peak at 425 nm was attributed to the band offset at the interface between the n-ZnO nanowire and p-GaN and to defect-related emission from GaN; it was also found that the there exist the yellow band in the hetrojunction. It would be attributed to the deep defect level in the heterojunction. 1. Introduction Recently, nanowire- (NW-) based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have become the focus of many researches and have also drawn considerable attention owing to their many advantages over conventional thin-film-based devices. NWs can improve light extraction without the use of a reflector because they can act as direct waveguides, and their nanostructure can overcome lower carrier injection efficiency because of a large band offset at the heterojunction interface. The nanojunction can also increase the contact area and aspect ratio and, hence, enhance carrier injection efficiency and recombination. Zinc oxide (ZnO) has a wide bandgap ( = 3.37?eV) and a stronger excitation binding energy (60?meV) than gallium nitride (GaN) (~29?meV) [1]. In addition, ZnO is a natural n-type semiconductor and has a wurtzite structure [2, 3]. These properties make ZnO a potential material to be used for ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors and other optoelectronic applications [4]. Moreover, ZnO-based one-dimensional (1D) materials are widely used because of their high surface-area-to-volume ratio. Therefore, a large contact area of the p-n junction structure could be fabricated to produce many kinds of optoelectronic devices such as LEDs and detectors. However, ZnO homojunction devices are difficult to fabricate because p-type doping in ZnO is not stable or reliable enough. Therefore, a heterojunction of ZnO and another material is needed to realize a p-n junction, which is an important part of many devices. Heterojunction devices fabricated in previous studies utilized semiconductors such as Cu2O, Si, SiC, and GaN [5–8]. Although several studies have investigated the use of p-type ZnO to realize homojunction devices, the fabrication of such devices is difficult because p-type ZnO is not stable or reliable enough. Abstract: For the first time, multiple sets of n-peptide compositions from antifreeze protein (AFP) sequences of various cold-adapted fish and insects were analyzed using support vector machine and genetic algorithms. The identification of AFPs is difficult because they exist as evolutionarily divergent types, and because their sequences and structures are present in limited numbers in currently available databases. Our results reveal that it is feasible to identify the shared sequential features among the various structural types of AFPs. Moreover, we were able to identify residues involved in ice binding without requiring knowledge of the three-dimensional structures of these AFPs. This approach should be useful for genomic and proteomic studies involving cold-adapted organisms.
Human parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells: one potential resource for cell therapy

Abstract: Pluripotent stem cells derived from somatic cells through such processes as nuclear transfer or induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells present an important model for biomedical research and provide potential resources for cell replacement therapies. However, the overall efficiency of the conversional nuclear transfer is very low and the safety issue remains a major concern for iPS cells. Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) generated from parthenogenetic embryos are one attractive alternative as a source of histocompatible cells and tissues for cell therapy. Recent studies on human parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells (hPG ESCs) have revealed that these ESCs are very similar to the hESCs derived from IVF or in vivo produced blastocysts in gene expression and other characteristics, but full differentiation and development potential of these hPG ESCs have to be further investigated before clinical research and therapeutic interventions. To generate various pluripotent stem cells, diverse reprogramming techniques and approaches will be developed and integrated. This may help elucidate the fundamental mechanisms underlying reprogramming and stem cell biology, and ultimately benefit cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

Abstract: In this paper, an approximate expression for solving plane stress problem of orthotropic material is worked out based upon the procedures of Lecknitzky's work. For the purpose of applications, three simple examples are given, namely: (1) The bending of beam with circular hole, ( 2 ) circular hole in a plate under simple tension, ( 3 ) elliptic hole in an infinite plane with uniformly distributed pressure acting on the edge of hole.
