Abstract: This paper presents a multicriterica decision making method (MCDM) to evaluate the performance of the fourth-party logistics providers. The four indexes of balanced scorecard (BSC) are used as the evaluation indexes. AHP (analytical hierarchy process) is used for rating the weights of criteria and alternatives. MCDM method of SAW (Simple Additive Weighting) is used for ranking the companies. Results show that the approach is applicable for the performance measurement problem.

An analysis of the efficiency of the ginning of cotton fibers with two saw cylinders has been carried out. In comparison to a one-cylinder machine, the 2 cylinder approach can help to preserve the natural characteristics of cotton fiber and seeds. This technology allows economizing electricity and decreasing damage to fiber and also increases the productivity of the machine.

Abstract: In order to realize the micromation of position sensors, and extend the application area into micro scale, this paper designs a novel micro position sensor, Mace SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) position sensor, which can be fabricated with MEMS technology. Its key components are IDTs (Interdigital Transducers) and reflective grooves. The structure and working principles of the sensor are introduced theoretically, and the manufacture process is then put forward.
Study on Reducing Leachate Production by Saw Powder Adding  [PDF]

Abstract: In order to study the effect of saw powder on leachate production, degradation of rubbish, COD and NH3-N concentration of leachate, three cylinder reactors for anaerobic landfill disposal were built to simulate the op-eration of landfill. In this experiment, leachate quantity, settling height of rubbish layer, COD and NH3-N concentration were monitored. The results come from experiment data analyses indicate that saw powder has strong effect on reducing leachate quantity and accelerating degradation of rubbish. In 60 days, saw powder mixed in rubbish layer can reduce 1200-1300mL leachate every liter rubbish, moreover, rubbish layer with saw powder mixed in settled more leachate than rubbish layer with no saw powder mixed in for 5cm. The ex-perimental results indicate that saw powder can reduce COD concentration of leachate and adsorb NH3-N, too.
Saw Palmetto-Based Nutritional Supplement Prostataplex Relieves Symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in Patients with Mild to Moderate BPH  [PDF]

Abstract: The goal of this study was to assess the efficacy of the saw palmetto-based nutritional supplement, Prostataplex, for relieving the symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with mild to moderate degrees of BPH. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was performed in Shanghai, China. Eighty patients with BPH were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (39 cases) or control group (41 cases). Patients in the intervention group were administered Prostataplex orally and placebos were given to patients in the control group. The duration of treatment was 12 weeks in both groups. Following the intervention of Prostataplex, the maximum urinary flow rates (MFR), total scores of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and quality of life indicators were significantly better among the patients in the intervention group than those in the control group (P < 0.01 for all variables). Significant improvement of symptoms including dysuria, reducing nocturnal polyuria and increasing urinary flow rate was seen after two months of intervention, especially for the improvement of incomplete bladder emptying. Prostataplex has positive effects on improving symptoms as well as quality of life in men with mild to moderate BPH.

Abstract: Aim: In tricompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee, the patellofemoral articulation is severely affected due to degenerative changes. Patellaplasty is done as a part of total knee arthroplasty in these cases to smoothen the articular surface of patella. However, an ideal technique with easy reproducibility has been scarcely reported for the same. Method: We describe a method of using electrocautery and power saw with thin blades for patellaplasty. Results: Using this technique, we have produced results, which are comparable with cases where patellar resurfacing has been done. Conclusion: This described method for patellaplasty is easy with good reproducibility.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to determine the effect of band saw teeth parameters on the production and quality of eucalyptus sawed wood. the effect of two tooth pitches (57.15 mm and variable pitch: 50.8 - 50.8 - 50.39 - 50.71 - 60.03 - 60.35 mm), two hook angles (26 and 270) and two gullet depths (22 and 25.4 mm) on eucalyptus sawed wood was evaluated. ten 15-year-old logs of eucalyptus grandis x eucalyptus urophylla clones were used. logs were classified in two diameter classes with five logs displaying diameter between 25 to 34 cm and other five logs with diameter between 35 and 47 cm. variable pitches did not improve wood quality. band saw with hook angle equal to 270 and gullet depth of 22 mm or 25.4 mm provided positive cut deviation. the smallest thickness variation was found for band saw with gullet depth equal 25.4 mm and hook angle equal to 270. the largest cut deviation was observed with variable pitch and hook angle of 260.

Abstract: According to the soft-switching pulsed SAW (Submerged arc weld) weld power supply based on the double closed-loop constant current control mode, a small signal mathematic model of main circuit of soft-switching SAW inverter was established by applying the method of three-terminal switching device modeling method, and the math-ematic model of double closed-loop phase-shift control system circuit was established by applying the method of state-space averaging method. Dynamic performance of the inverter was analyzed on base of the established math-ematic model, and the tested wave of dynamic performance was shown by experimentation. Research and experimentation show that relation between structure of the power source circuit and dynamic performance of the controlling system can be announced by the established mathematic model, which provides development of power supply and optimized design of controlling parameter with theoretical guidance.
Cr(VI) Ions Removal from Aqueous Solutions Using Natural Adsorbents – FTIR Studies  [PDF]

Abstract: The ability of eight natural adsorbents were investigated for adsorptive removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions. Various physico-chemical parameters such as pH, initial metal ion concentration, adsorbent dose level and equi-librium contact time were optimized in batch adsorption technique. A detailed Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR) study of adsorbents and Cr(VI) loaded adsorbents at the optimized condition was carried out to identify the different functional groups that were responsible for the adsorption. The important functional groups like hydroxyl, alkene, aromatic nitro, carboxilate anion, silicon oxide, sulphonic acid etc. were present in the natural adsorbent and were responsible for the chemical adsorption of Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions. The sorption energy calculated from Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm indicated that the adsorption process were chemical in nature.
