Islamic and Conventional Equity Fund Rating Performance withalReturn, Sharpe, Modified Snail Trail, and Morningstar Rating Groundwork

Abstract: This research aims to assess the performance of equity fund in Indonesia, Islamic and Conventional, whether they can outperform the market. The samples used in this research are 36 equity funds which have been established prior to January 2008. The performance measurement methods are rating based on return, Sharpe index, Modified Snail Trail, and Morningstar. This research finds that the performance of Islamic equity fund does not differ significantly compared to market and conventional equity fund based on return and Sharpe Index. The finding in high rating portfolio is quite obvious, high return and Sharpe Index rating portfolios produce the highest expected return of 1.09% in 5 years. Meanwhile, modified snail trail method shows 1% expected return, and the lastly, Morningstar rating indicates 0.64% return. These portfolios, except for Morningstar rating, outperform to benchmark portfolios namely, equally weighted portfolio and minimizing risk portfolio in all of three categories.

Abstract: Side weir is a type of protection structure which function is to protect channels from damage caused by excessive amount of water (overtopping) so the water level in channels or rivers is to be preserved. The type is spatially varied flow with decrease of discharge occurs in main channels along the side weir. Usually design of spillway applies entrance of slope 900. Thus this reduces discharge coefficient. In this research, the influence entrance slope less than 900 was observed such as 600 and 300. The observation showed that discharge coefficient is function of entrance slope and ratio value of water depth to weir radius (h/r) with largest discharge coefficient around value (0.341 a 0.366) with entrance slope value (55.850 a 57.730). Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Pelimpah Samping (side weir) adalah bangunan untuk melindungi saluran dari kerusakan yang diakibatkan oleh jumlah air yang berlebihan (overtopping). Dengan dipasang pelimpah samping maka ketinggian air di saluran atau sungai tetap terjaga. Tipe aliran adalah aliran berubah lambat laun terhadap ruang (spatially varied flow) dengan penurunan debit yang terjadi di saluran utama sepanjang pelimpah. Selama ini pembangunan pelimpah samping menggunakan sudut masuk 900 terhadap aliran utama. Dengan demikian mempunyai kerugian yakni berkurangnya koefisien pengaliran. Dilain pihak asumsi koefisien pengaliran tersebut sampai sekarang tetap dianggap cukup besar. Pada penelitian ini diamati pengaruh sudut masuk sayap yang lebih kecil dari 900 yaitu sudut 600 dan 300. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koefisien debit merupakan fungsi dari sudut masuk dan nilai perbandingan kedalaman air dan jari-jari pelimpah (h/r). Koefisien debit terbesar bernilai antara (0,341 a 0,366) pada sudut masuk antara (55,850- 57,730).

Abstract: This study evaluates the changes in perception related to education quality, facilities and teaching staff that occur between before a student enters the Economics Faculty at Petra Christian University and after they begin their studies. Results found using two sample t-tests show that all levels of students experienced a large decline in perception regarding the teaching staff, primarily due to the inability of the staff to teach according to the scheduled time, but also due to lecturers not valuing students or teaching in a way that was easy to receive instruction. Older students experienced positive changes in perceptions of facilities and no change in overall perception of the education quality, while younger students were dissatisfied with both educational quality as well as facilities. The results show the importance of prioritizing the human resources instead of the physical facilities. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penelitian ini menganalisa perubahan persepsi yang terjadi sebelum dan sesudah masuk kuliah terhadap kualitas pendidikan, fasilitas, dan staf pengajar di Fakultas Ekonomi, Universitas Kristen Petra. Hasil yang ditemukan dengan menggunakan analisa uji-t dua sample, menunjukkan bahwa semua angkatan mengalami penurunan besar dalam persepsi terhadap para staf pengajar, terutama karena ketidaktepatan waktu dalam mengajar, tetapi juga karena staf pengajar kurang menghargai mahasiswa dan juga tidak mengajar dengan cara yang mudah diterima. Mahasiswa dari angkatan lama mengalami perubahan persepsi yang positif terhadap fasilitas dan tidak mengalami perubahan dalam persepsinya terhadap kualitas pendidikan sedangkan mahasiswa dari angkatan baru mengalami penurunan persepsi terhadap kualitas pendidikan serta fasilitas. Seluruh hasil menunjukkan pentingnya mengutamakan sumber daya manusia dan bukan hanya fasilitas dan sarana fisik. Kata kunci: perubahan persepsi, kualitas pendidikan, fasilitas, staf pengajar.
Study of the Structural and Electrical Properties of Cr-Doped BiFeO3 Ceramic  [PDF]

Abstract: Multiferroic BiFe1-xCrxO3 (x = 0.2 and 0.4) ceramics were synthesized in a single phase. The effects of Cr3+ substitution on the crystal structure, dielectric permittivity and leakage current were investigated. Preliminary X-ray structural studies revealed that the samples had a rhombohedral perovskite crystal structure. The dielectric constant ε' significantly increased while the dielectric loss tanδ was substantially decreased with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The temperature effect on the dielectric properties exhibited an anomaly corresponding to magneto-electric coupling in the samples and was shifted to lower temperatures with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The leakage current density also reduced in magnitude with the increase in the Cr3+ substitution.

Abstract: We investigate the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) model and G-CSF (granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) treatment of CN (Cyclical Neutropenia). We collect grey collies and normal dog’s data from CN and analyze the G-CSF treatment. The model develops the dynamics of circulating blood cells before and after the G-CSF treatment. This is quite natural and useful for the collection of laboratory data for investigation. The proposed interventions are practical. This reduces the quantity of G-CSF required for potential maintenance. This model gives us good result in treatment. The changes would be practical and reduce the risk side as well as the cost of treatment in G-CSF.

Abstract: Restructured electric market environment allows the power wheeling transactions between the power producers and customers to meet the growing load demand. This will lead to the possible of congestion in the transmission lines. The possible contingencies of power components further worsen the scenario. This paper describes the methodology for the identification of critical transmission line by computing the real power and reactive power performance indices. Abstract: In scaled CMOS processes, the single-event effects generate missing output pulses in Delay-Locked Loop (DLL). Due to its effective sequence detection of the missing pulses in the proposed Error Correction Circuit (ECC) and its portability to be applied to any DLL type, the ECC mitigates the impact of single-event effects and completes its operation with less design complexity without any concern about losing the information. The ECC has been implemented in 180 nm CMOS process and measured the accuracy of mitigation on simulations at LETs up to 100 MeV-cm2/mg. The robustness and portability of the mitigation technique are validated through the results obtained by implementing proposed ECC in XilinxArtix 7 FPGA.

Abstract: Power generation becomes the need of developed, developing and under developed countries to meet their increasing power requirements. When affordability increases their requirement of power increases, this happens when increased per capita consumption. The existing power scenario states that highest power is produced using firing of coals called thermal energy. A high efficiency Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) based high frequency switching scheme to enhance the output for grid connectivity is designed, fabricated and evaluated. This proposed method generates the output for the low wind speed. It provides output at low speed because of multi-level DC-DC converter and storage system. It is an efficient solution for low wind power generation. The real time readings and results are discussed.
