Abstract: The genre-blending of Troilus and Cressida, from the Prologue’s Henry V-like presentation of epic history in microcosm to the interventions of comedic romance, romantic satire, tragic romance and neoclassical tragedy, suggests that Shakespeare discovered in Chaucer a kaleidoscopic refraction of the medieval world and the English literary past. Rooted in the histories, refashioned as a touchstone of human interaction in the comedies, revisited as setting and tone in the tragedies, Shakespeare engaged his “memory” of Chaucer most directly in the tragicomedies. Inspired perhaps by Chaucerian juxtapositions of poet-narrators and their tales, Shakespeare explored the potential of generic multiplication and recombination most successfully in The Winter’s Tale and The Tempest, wherein narrator figures appear for narrative expediency (“Time”) or effect. In collaboration with other playwrights on “medieval” material, however—notably Pericles and The Two Noble Kinsmen, their narrators either ubiquitous or conspicuously absent—Shakespeare’s lens on the past tends to fracture.

Abstract: The 18th century was considered a century of cosmopolitism, of changes, and of huge circulation of people and ideas. The artistic picture of this reference period in the history of fine arts draws the contour of a unification of elites in an enlightened Europe of Princes, a phenomenon that is common to both Central Europe area and Banat freed from the Turks (1718), where the newly set bourgeoisie is the carrier of modernity. The period conventionally called “baroque” is the richest in expression, its variety being increased by the huge circulation of forms which manifest in the Banat area as local variants that make up the provincial baroques. Sculpture develops tending to turn art into forms accessible to common people: thus, St. John of Nepomuk, a Prague bishop, becomes the protector of the catholic population colonized in Banat.
A Survival Analysis of the Duration of Olympic Records

Abstract: We use recurrent-events survival analysis techniques and methods to analyze the duration of Olympic records. The Kaplan-Meier estimator is used to perform preliminary tests and recurrent event survivor function estimators proposed by Wang & Chang (1999) and Pena et al. (2001) are used to estimate survival curves. Extensions of the Cox Proportional Hazards model are employed as well as a discrete-time logistic model for repeated events to estimate models and quantify parameter significance. The logistic model was the best fit to the data according to the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). We discuss, in detail, covariate significance for this model and make predictions of how many records will be set at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Folic acid use in pregnant patients presenting to the emergency department

Abstract: We surveyed a convenience sample of pregnant patients who presented to the University of Utah Emergency Department (ED) between 1 January 2008, and 30 April 2009, regarding pregnancy history and prior medical care.One hundred thirty-five patients participated in the study. Eighty-four patients (62.2%) reported current folic acid supplementation. Sixty-six patients identified themselves as Caucasian and 69 as non-Caucasian race. There was a significant difference in folic acid use between Caucasian and non-Caucasian women (p = 0.035). The majority of Caucasian women (71.2%) reported daily folic acid use versus approximately one-half of non-Caucasian women (53.6%). Both groups were similar in accessing a primary care provider (PCP) for pregnancy care prior to the ED visit (53% vs. 49.3%, p = 0.663), and rates of folic acid use were similar in those who had seen a PCP (85.7% vs. 76.5%, p = 0.326). Language did not have a significant association with folic acid use.A large percentage of pregnant ED patients did not report current folic use, and there was a significant difference between Caucasian and non-Caucasian women in rates of folic acid supplementation. This study highlights the potential role of the ED in screening patients for folic acid supplementation.In the United States, approximately one in every 1,000 pregnancies is affected by a neural tube defect (NTD) [1]. Abstract: Multiferroic BiFe1-xCrxO3 (x = 0.2 and 0.4) ceramics were synthesized in a single phase. The effects of Cr3+ substitution on the crystal structure, dielectric permittivity and leakage current were investigated. Preliminary X-ray structural studies revealed that the samples had a rhombohedral perovskite crystal structure. The dielectric constant ε' significantly increased while the dielectric loss tanδ was substantially decreased with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The temperature effect on the dielectric properties exhibited an anomaly corresponding to magneto-electric coupling in the samples and was shifted to lower temperatures with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The leakage current density also reduced in magnitude with the increase in the Cr3+ substitution.

Abstract: We investigate the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) model and G-CSF (granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) treatment of CN (Cyclical Neutropenia). We collect grey collies and normal dog’s data from CN and analyze the G-CSF treatment. The model develops the dynamics of circulating blood cells before and after the G-CSF treatment. This is quite natural and useful for the collection of laboratory data for investigation. The proposed interventions are practical. This reduces the quantity of G-CSF required for potential maintenance. This model gives us good result in treatment. The changes would be practical and reduce the risk side as well as the cost of treatment in G-CSF.

Abstract: Restructured electric market environment allows the power wheeling transactions between the power producers and customers to meet the growing load demand. This will lead to the possible of congestion in the transmission lines. The possible contingencies of power components further worsen the scenario. This paper describes the methodology for the identification of critical transmission line by computing the real power and reactive power performance indices. It also demonstrates the importance of fuzzy logic technique used to rank the transmission lines according to the severity and demonstrated on IEEE-30 bus system.

Abstract: In scaled CMOS processes, the single-event effects generate missing output pulses in Delay-Locked Loop (DLL). Due to its effective sequence detection of the missing pulses in the proposed Error Correction Circuit (ECC) and its portability to be applied to any DLL type, the ECC mitigates the impact of single-event effects and completes its operation with less design complexity without any concern about losing the information. The ECC has been implemented in 180 nm CMOS process and measured the accuracy of mitigation on simulations at LETs up to 100 MeV-cm2/mg. The robustness and portability of the mitigation technique are validated through the results obtained by implementing proposed ECC in XilinxArtix 7 FPGA.
