Abstract: A combined approach involving an EP based fuzzy coordination and an ANN(artificial neural network) methods along with a heuristic rule based search algorithm has been propounded in this paper in order to obtain the best fit optimal generation schedules for multiobjective generation dispatch problem with non-smooth characteristic functions satisfying various practical constraints. Initially, the economy objective function is minimized, followed by minimization of emission level objective function. Then, both the objectives are mixed through a fuzzy coordination method to form a fuzzy decision making (FDM) function. Maximizing the FDM function then solves the original two-objective problem. The minimization and maximization tasks of this optimization problem are solved by the evolutionary programming technique and the results are trained through a radial basis function ANN to reach a preliminary generation schedule. Since, some practical constraints may be violated in the preliminary stage, a heuristic rule based search algorithm is developed to reach a feasible best compromising generation schedule which satisfies all practical constraints in the final stage. The proposed EP based neuro-fuzzy technique has been applied to standard IEEE-30 bus test system and the results are presented. Simulation results indicate that the accuracy and the capability of very fast computation of generation schedule by this technique seem to be very promising for its suitability for on-line multiobjective generation dispatching with any kind of characteristic functions. This technique can be extended to other higher test case systems as well with suitable assumptions.
An Artificial Neural Network Method For Optimal Generation Dispatch With Multiple Fuel Options

Abstract: This paper presents an artificial neural network method to solve the optimal generation dispatch problem with multiple fuel options. Traditionally, in the optimal generation dispatch problem, the cost function for each generator is approximately represented by a single quadratic function. However, it is more realistic to represent the generation cost function for fossil fired plants as a segmented piecewise quadratic functions, as in the case of valve point loading. Some generation units especially, those units which are supplied with multiple fuel sources (gas and oil) are faced with the problem of determining which is the most economical fuel to burn. The proposed method has applications to fossil fired generating units capable of burning gas and oil, etc., as well as other problems which result in multiple intersecting cost curves for a particular unit. An advantage of this method is the capability to optimize over a greater variety of operating conditions. The simulation results show that the solution method is practical and valid for real time operation.

Abstract: The solar photovoltaic power has received great attention and experienced impressive progress in the countries all over the world in recent years because of more and more serious energy crisis and environmental pollution. This paper proposes a Embedded controlled boost converter for solar installation system. Boost converter system is simulated using Matlab and it is implemented using embedded controller. The simulation and experimental results of this system are presented and compared. This converter has advantages like improved power factor, fast response and reduced hardware.

Abstract: Traditionally, the Indian folk literature has been a rich depository of the beliefs, customs, superstitions, and knowledge of a diversified culture throughout the land amongst its subjects, transmitted in an oral mode and through observation. Such traditional knowledge based informations are preserved and passed on fromgeneration to generation. The documentation of traditional knowledge exclusively on the use of medicinal plants as on date acts as the source of many important drugs of modern day. Based on folklore uses of various plant parts, a detailed study on antimicrobial properties of various extracts as well as isolated compounds (first time reported) of the leaves of Chromolaena odorata Linn. was carried out with a view to justify its use as antimicrobial agent by the local inhabitants of Lathi village. Successive solvent extraction of the leaf powder of C. odorata was carried out as per the standard procedure using various solvents like, petroleum ether(40o–60oC),ethyl acetate and methanol. Preliminary phytochemical analysis, isolation of metabolites and antimicrobial activities of the extracts as well as selected isolated compounds were carried out. Selected bacteria (both gram positive and gram negative) and fungi were used in the present study to establish the antimicrobial potency ofvarious solvent extracts and isolated compounds of the leaves of C. odorata in comparison to the control standards.

Abstract: This study deals with harmonic reduction in the five level inverter based Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR). The control of DV R that injects a voltage in series with a distribution feeder is presented. DVR is a power electronic controller that can protect sensitive loads from disturbances in supply system. DVR can regulate the voltage at the load. The simulation results of five level inverter based DVR are presented. The spectrum for the output voltage is also presented.
