Consideraciones éticas en la preparación y mantenimiento de material clínico para su análisis por computadora
Roussos,Andrés; Braun,Magdalena;
Subjetividad y procesos cognitivos , 2010,
Abstract: the process of preparation, analysis, and keeping of clinical equipment used for research in clinical psychology is especially vulnerable to potential ethical liability. it's necessary to consider the risks associated with the use of computers in each of the instances of research. the preparation of clinical material is mostly associated with the concern to generate databases with authorizations incorporated for the use of such material. it's necessary to take into account the different actors of the clinical process, starting with the patient, the psychotherapist and the institution in which the treatment takes place. each of these actors has distinctive interests that must be identified and preserved by the researcher. computer systems of conception and documentation of the material must take into account that process. likewise, the analyses of material shouldn′t overlook the preservation of privacy nor its original features. a faulty facade can cause serious problems to the researcher and to those whom he must preserve. clinical material storage is the most vulnerable issue of the system since it ranges from the loss of unique and unrepeatable material to the risk of not counting on an appropriate satisfactory care context. it′s important that the researcher and the rest of the system involved in the use of clinical material for research have systems of evaluation and protection of the rights of each of the participants.
UNIONES DE HECHO Y DERECHO SUCESORIO (LIBERTAD DE TESTAR PARA SOLTEROS SIN HIJOS)
Varas Braun,Juan Andrés;
Revista de derecho (Valdivia) , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-09502010000200001
Abstract: the text attempts to consider the possible solutions to the matter regarding the eventual rights of inheritance between live-in partners that the legislation should recognize, carrying out a cross-exercise: from the problem of civil union, critically analyze the general succession regulation; and from the inheritance law, critically analyze the regulatory attempts to deal with civil union. the paper also has bearing in a central aspect of the debate on legal regulations of civil union: if the legislator must focus his task on regulating the formal constitution of the aforementioned to later assign them legal effects, or to, on the contrary, if the legislator must provide regulations that allow to prove ex post the existence of the union to permit to its members obtain their respective rights and obligations.
LA LESIóN EN LAS PARTICIONES: UN EJERCICIO SOBRE LA NATURALEZA DE LAS COSAS EN EL DERECHO CIVIL
Varas Braun,Juan Andrés;
Revista de derecho (Valdivia) , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-09502006000100003
Abstract: the author criticizes article 1348 (section second) of the chilean civil code that, referring to a partition, states that "the rescission on grounds of lesion is granted to which has been harmed in more than half of his quota", as unfair and inconvenient, proposing its legislative modification (and meanwhile, a flexible interpretation), arguing that "the nature of things" in a partition is diverse, in all that matters to this problem, to the one of the contractual relations with which the mentioned disposition assimilates it.
Boundary conditions in the QCD nucleus-nucleus scattering problem
Bondarenko, S.;Braun, M. A.
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007, DOI: 10.1016/j.nuclphysa.2007.11.008
Abstract: In the framework of the effective field theory for interacting BFKL pomerons, applied to nucleus-nucleus scattering, boundary conditions for the classical field equations are discussed. Correspondence with the QCD diagrams at the boundary rapidities requires pomeron interaction with the participating nuclei to be exponential and non-local. Commonly used 'eikonal' boundary conditions, local and linear in fields, follow in the limit of small QCD pomeron-nucleon coupling. Numerical solution of the classical field equations, which sum all tree diagrams for central gold-gold scattering, demonstrates that corrected boundary conditions lead to substantially different results, as compared to the eikonal conditions studied in earlier publications. A breakdown of projectile-target symmetry for particular solutions discovered earlier in \cite{bom} is found to occur at roughly twice lower rapidity. Most important, due to a high non-linearity of the problem, the found asymmetric solutions are not unique but form a family growing in number with rapidity. The minimal value for the action turns out to be much lower than with the eikonal boundary conditions and saturates at rapidities around 10.
Automated Detection of Conformational Epitopes Using Phage Display Peptide Sequences
Surendra S Negi,Werner Braun
Bioinformatics and Biology Insights , 2009,
Abstract: Background: Precise determination of conformational epitopes of neutralizing antibodies represents a key step in the rational design of novel vaccines. A powerful experimental method to gain insights on the physical chemical nature of conformational epitopes is the selection of linear peptides that bind with high affinities to a monoclonal antibody of interest by phage display technology. However, the structural characterization of conformational epitopes from these mimotopes is not straightforward, and in the past the interpretation of peptide sequences from phage display experiments focused on linear sequence analysis to find a consensus sequence or common sequence motifs.Results: We present a fully automated search method, EpiSearch that predicts the possible location of conformational epitopes on the surface of an antigen. The algorithm uses peptide sequences from phage display experiments as input, and ranks all surface exposed patches according to the frequency distribution of similar residues in the peptides and in the patch. We have tested the performance of the EpiSearch algorithm for six experimental data sets of phage display experiments, the human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2/neu), the antibody mAb Bo2C11 targeting the C2 domain of FVIII, antibodies mAb 17b and mAb b12 of the HIV envelope protein gp120, mAb 13b5 targeting HIV-1 capsid protein and 80R of the SARS coronavirus spike protein. In all these examples the conformational epitopes as determined by the X-ray crystal structures of the antibody-antigen complexes, were found within the highest scoring patches of EpiSearch, covering in most cases more than 50% residues of experimental observed conformational epitopes. Input options of the program include mapping of a single peptide or a set of peptides on the antigen structure, and the results of the calculation can be visualized on our interactive web server.Availability: Users can access the EpiSearch from our web server http://curie.utmb.edu/episearch.html
UNIONES DE HECHO Y DERECHO SUCESORIO (LIBERTAD DE TESTAR PARA SOLTEROS SIN HIJOS) Civil unions and Inheritance Law (freedom to make a will for childless single individuals)
The text attempts to consider the possible solutions to the matter regarding the eventual rights of inheritance between live-in partners that the legislation should recognize, carrying out a cross-exercise: From the problem of civil union, critically analyze the general succession regulation; and from the Inheritance Law, critically analyze the regulatory attempts to deal with civil union.

LA LESIóN EN LAS PARTICIONES: UN EJERCICIO SOBRE LA NATURALEZA DE LAS COSAS EN EL DERECHO CIVIL Rescission for lesion in partitions: An exercise about the nature of things in Chilean Civil Law
The author criticizes article 1348 (section second) of the Chilean Civil Code that, referring to a partition, states that "The rescission on grounds of lesion is granted to which has been harmed in more than half of his quota", as unfair and inconvenient, proposing its legislative modification (and meanwhile, a flexible interpretation), arguing that "the nature of things" in a partition is diverse, in all that matters to this problem, to the one of the contractual relations with which the mentioned disposition assimilates it.
