Abstract: the cultivation of camu-camu myrciaria dubia (h.b.k.) mc vaugh has presented countless phytosanitary problems, among them, tuthillia cognata hodkinson et al. (hemiptera: homoptera, psyllidae), which often is noticed as a secondary pest. this study aimed to determine the level and the intensity of infestation (%) for t. cognata, as well as to study the biological cycle and behavioural aspects of t. cognata, in experimental plantation of camu-camu. 17 and 14 specimens from plantation i and ii, respectively, were randomly selected. the arithmetic average, the standard deviation, the variance and the total amplitude were calculated for each studied variable. a level of infestation of 82% (plantation i) and 57% (plantation ii), an intensity of infestation of 94% (plantation i) and 75% (plantation ii) and an average number of six nymphs/leaf in each plantation were found, indicating that t. cognata is one of the key pest on this culture. adults of chrysoperla sp. (neuroptera: chrysopidae) and nymphs of reduviidae (hemiptera: heteroptera), which can to be considered as probable biological control agents for t. cognata, were found in the plantations.

Factorial Validation of Warr’s (1990) Well-Being Measure: A Sample Study on Police Officers  [PDF]
Sónia P. Gon?alves, José Neves
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2011.27108
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to test the factorial validity of the job-related affective well-being scale—the IWP Multi-Affect Indicator. The sample was composed of 1466 police officers and collected through self-report questionnaires. With the objective of validating the factorial structure of the IWP Multi-Affect Indicator, several models were tested using confirmatory factor analysis. The results supported a four-factor structure: anxiety, comfort, depression and enthusiasm, as well as a five-factor structure including the same four factors plus a second-order factor called global affective well-being.
Representa??es sociais do crack na imprensa pernambucana
Santos, Maria de Fátima de Souza;Acioli Neto, Manoel de Lima;Sousa, Yuri Sá Oliveira;
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2012000300008
Abstract: the aim of this article was to analyze social representations about crack circulated by newspapers in pernambuco. the study is characterized as a documentary research, based on the analysis of 283 articles published by two widely circulated newspapers in recife from january 200 to abril 2008. data were analyzed using the alceste software program and content analysis. the results demonstrated that the information circulated about crack, on one hand described it as a drug related to the subject's strong anguish and weakness, and on the other, as part of drug trafficking, relating it to crime. these representations should therefore be observed as they may be associated with social discourses and practices that place drug users as subjects lacking the capacity to evaluate their own condition and relationship with the drug, and one could lapse into paternalistic and or violent practices towards the users.
Costa, Marcos Heil;Nunes, Edson Luís;Senna, M?nica Carneiro Alves;Imbuzeiro, Hewlley Maria Acioli;
Revista Brasileira de Meteorologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-77862009000200007
Abstract: this work evaluates the state-of-the-art of the simulation of carbon fixation rates, or net primary production (npp) by tropical ecosystems in two diagnostic configurations (simulation at micrometeorological sites and simulation forced by climate datasets and remote sensing products) and one prognostic (simulation by a coupled climate-biosphere model). the results indicate that the npp simulation models are capable of unbiased estimates of average regional values of npp, both in diagnostic and in prognostic mode, with errors smaller than 5%, while the expected value of the error in each site is smaller than 10% in the diagnostic mode and smaller than 20% in the prognostic mode. state-of-the-art models are capable of routinely monitoring the net primary production of tropical ecosystems, with low errors expected for these estimates.
