Competitividad y cohesión social: el caso de la industria del vestido en Yucatán
Canto Sáenz, Rodolfo;
Estudios sociales (Hermosillo, Son.) , 2011,
Abstract: the article takes the view that competitiveness and social cohesion are complementary variables. in yucatan non-inclusive models of economic growth have prevailed: the production of sisal during the twentieth century and the maquiladora industry for export, particularly clothing, in the last two decades. currently, the maquiladoras are leaving yucatan; nearly 100 companies have closed down and around twenty thousand jobs have been lost; however, there remain about two thousand micro and small businesses from the garment industry which are an important economic asset. the paper explores the possibility of moving towards an inclusive model of economic development that simultaneously promotes competitiveness (efficiency) and social cohesion (equity) in the garment industry with a resolute policy of promoting the development of technological capabilities and the formation of human capital, as an objective basis for improving workers' income and quality of life.
Leopoldo Zea: Identidad, circunstancia y liberación
Estudios de filosof?-a pr??ctica e historia de las ideas , 2006,
Abstract: leopoldo zea contributed to a deep revision of the concept of identity and its philosophical meaning, working on topics that are on the base of the philosophical thinking itself: is it assumed that he who philosophizes should detach himself from his social and cultural context?; and if that is so, what would be the meaning of truth, especially in relation to culture, politics, social criticism, and history? what is the meaning of "identity" as regards culture, society, and politics, as well as social groups flow and historical movement? what is the relation between latin american philosophy and critical thinking, and philosophy and critical thinking of other regions? nonetheless, right from his early essays, where he relates culture with the reflection about culture made by intellectuals, to the last ones, zea's thinking appears as elitist and occidental. the indigenous america seems to be merely circumstantial and non definitive regarding latin america. this fact poses a paradox over which this essay intends to shed some light.

Sáenz Zumbado,Luis;
Medicina Legal de Costa Rica , 2000,
Abstract: being informed is a human right, as unquestionable is the right of intimacy. the 19th article of the universal declaration of human rights says that every person has the right to search for, diffuse and receive information. to inform is to transmit to an external being something which allows contributes to the formation of that being. intimacy is the right that every person has to develop his/her existence in his/her existencial solitude or in the company of other individuals. the condition that allows a person to exclude others implies that intimacy can not be violated without the concernment of the person, this inviolability includes the press and other individuals right of receiving information. rights of public interest are understood to affect, positively or negatively, the entire social group. the right of information is limited by the private life of each individual. the problem arises when public interest is confused with curiosity and in the name of the right of information, intimacy is disturbed (pseudoinformation).

Abstract: this article covers the cocaine and marihuana imports from colombia to miami during the 1970s. it describes the organized networks in charge of these illicit activities. it is pointed out that colombians cooperated with traffickers belonging to other nationalities (mainly cubans and americans). finally, it is shown that the violence unleashed by colombian traffickers in miami at the end of the 70s was fully oriented to rival colombian bands.
Sáenz Rovner,Eduardo;
Cuadernos de Economía , 2007,
Abstract: marihuana consumption in colombia did not become spread as a simple result of its increased use as part of the north-american counterculture of the 1960s. even though increased crop growing spiraled to satisfy north-american demand at the end of the 1960s and 1970s, there was an important market for domestic consumption in colombia. on the other hand, "exonerating-type" academic literature tending to see countries such as colombia as the passive "victims" of externally-induced phenomena is questioned.
