Abstract: Since the initial series, the study of grammatical rules are introduced. In this process, each year, the student is taken to review all that has he already studied in previous series on the grammatical content and advance learning other content. We reflect, then, if the student, after years of schooling, finds it difficult to use what they learned in English classes, what are these classes used for ? This paper aims to demonstrate that in the Portuguese language classes is the key that was developed sense of analysis and interpretation of the facts of language and the relation between words, statements and periods within an oral or written text. These elements represent a demonstration that the reader actually has a conscious mastery of the mechanisms of their language and thus understand what they read.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the feeding behavior of triatoma vitticeps through the identification of its food sources and the characterization of the blood ingestion process. in addition, we aimed to verify if the saliva of this vector interferes with the perception of the host during the feedings by creating a nervous impulse. here, we demonstrated that the t. vitticeps saliva reduces, gradually and irreversibly, the amplitude of the compound action potential of the nervous fibre, which helps decrease the perception of the insect by the host. the precipitin reaction demonstrated the feeding eclecticism of this vector, with the identification of eight food sources - most of them found simultaneously in the same insect. the analysis of the electrical signals produced by the cibarial pump during meals demonstrated that the best feeding performance of t. vitticeps nymphs that fed on pigeons is mainly due to the higher contraction frequency of the pump. the longer contact period with the host to obtain a complete meal compared with other triatominae species of the same instar could favor the occurrence of multiple blood sources in t. vitticeps under natural conditions, as it was evidenced by the precipitin test.

Abstract: cognitive and emotional factors may affect balance; psychiatric conditions are a common component in patient dizziness. the treatment of patients with vertigo may be affected to a greater degree by the suffering due to this disease than by the severity of organic changes. objective: this study aimed to investigate associations between vestibular test results and self-reported psychological complaints in patients evaluated during 2009 in an audiology unit at a hospital in porto alegre. methods: we conducted a retrospective, descriptive-exploratory study of data taken from a database of the software vecwin? and vecwin? 2, developed by neurograff?. we investigated vestibular test results, reports of psychological symptoms reported spontaneously, and information such as age, sex and the presence of vertigo and/or dizziness. this study consisted of three steps: clustering, exclusion/inclusion and quantification. conclusion: age and gender and the presence or absence of vertigo and/or dizziness were not variables that influenced the outcomes of vestibular testing. there was a significant association between the presence of self-reported psychological complaints and normal vestibular test results. thus, it is crucial that professionals pay attention to psychological issues reported by patients when the vestibular history is taken.

Abstract: the experiment was conducted in the sheep division of animal science department at ufla in lavras with the objective to determine the body composition and to estimate the calcium and phosphorus requirements for weight gain of santa inês pure lambs and their crossings with bergamácia, ile de france and texel breeds. it was used 48 non castrated male lambs. twelve lambs with average weight of 15 kg were slaughtered in the beginning of the experiment to evaluate the calcium and phosphorus body content by using as reference animals for the comparative slaughtered method. the animals remaining were slaughtered when they reached 25, 35 and 45 kg of live weight, respectively. the calcium and phosphorus body composition was estimated by prediction equations, obtained by the regression of the mineral empty body amount logarithm in function of empty body weight logarithm. the net requirements of calcium and phosphorus for gaining in weight were estimated from the derivation of the prediction equations of the body composition. the estimate of the body composition per kilogram of empty body weight for animals from 15 to 45 kg of live weight was: 14.641 to 11.637 g of ca for the santa inês animals and 12.537 to 10.778 g of ca for the other genetic groups. in the case of the phosphorus there were not differences among the genetic groups, and the values varied from 7.892 to 6.767 g of p. the net requirements per kilogram of live weight gain for animals from 15 to 45 kg of lw were, respectively: 9.50 g to 7.56 g of ca for santa inês pure animals; 8.78 g to 7.54 g for the other animals. in the case of the phosphorus, this requeriments for animals of 15 kg of lw was of 5.5 g of p and for animals with 45 kg of lw was of 4.7 g of p.

Abstract: to evaluate the intake, nutrients apparent digestibilities and nitrogen balance of corn silage, alfalfa and coastcross bermudagrass hays a digestibility trial with sheep was conducted. fifteen crossbred castrated sheeps, with average live weigth 47.5 kg, were used in a randomized blocks design with four repplicates. the dry matter intake, in g/kg0.75, was influenced by feed and the higher value (68.06) was observed in animals fed with alfalfa hay. the ether extract and neutral detergent fiber intakes were smaller for animals fed with corn silage. the total digestible nutrients and crude protein intakes was higher for animals fed with alfalfa hay, both values were 210.97 g/day and 643.42 g/day, respectively. this result is related to the high nutritional value and dry matter content of the alfalfa hay. the crude protein and dry matter apparent digestibilities (56.47 and 73.92%, respectively) were higher on animals fed alfalfa hay. the nitrogen balance was positive only for animals fed alfalfa hays. the average live weight gain were 100.79 and 147.62 g/day for coastcross bermudagrass and alfalfa hays, respectively. the animals fed with corn silage lost live weight (-34.92 g/day). this result could be associated with the fact that the chemical composition of the hays is better than the corn silage.
