El capitán Miguel Caldera y la frontera chichimeca: entre el mestizo historiográfico y el soldado del rey
Ruiz Guadalajara, Juan Carlos
Revista de Indias , 2010,
Abstract: This article attempts to examine critically the image that contemporary historiography has built around the figure of Captain Miguel Caldera. In contrast, it shows aspects that bring us closer to his Hispanic identity, to his role as a member of the militia in the service of Philip II of Spain and to the part he played as an instrument of domination and in the disappearance of the nomads of the Chichimecan frontier. It also contributes to the discussion of frontier cultural development in the context of the Hispanic monarchy’s expansion in the 16th century.

Abstract: heart failure is a disease with several definitions. the term "heart failure" is used by has brougth about confusion in the terminology. for this reason, the value of the ejection fraction (< 0.40 or < 0.35) is used in most meganalyses on the treatment of heart failure, avoiding the term "heart failure" that is a confounding concept. in this paper we carefully analyze the meaning of contractility, ventricular function or performance, preload, afterload, heart failure, compensation mechanisms in heart failure, myocardial oxygen consumption, inadequate, adequate and inappropriate hypertrophy, systole, diastole, compliance, problems of relaxation, and diastolic dysfunction. their definitions are supported by the original scientific descriptions in an attempt to clarify the concepts about ventricular function and heart failure and, in this way, use the same scientific language about the meaning of ventricular function, heart failure, and diastolic dysfunction.
Modelos de valoración de maquinaria agrícola en el sur de Europa. Un análisis de la depreciación real
Guadalajara-Olmeda, Natividad;Fenollosa-Ribera, M. Loreto;
Agrociencia , 2010,
Abstract: valuation models of new and used agricultural machinery are obtained through the use of econometric methods for spain and italy, from which the empirical depreciation models are deduced. the mean useful life of the tractors in operation in spain is approximately twice that of italy, and in both countries depreciation is higher in the most powerful tractors and lower in those of less power; but in spain these differences are more pronounced and are as high as 20 % after 15 years.
The Effects of Tourism Architecture on Island Ecosystems  [PDF]
Lourdes Ruiz
Journal of Building Construction and Planning Research (JBCPR) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jbcpr.2015.34016
Abstract: This research aims to propose environmental prevention and mitigation on fragile coastal ecosystems due to the actions of the tourist architecture, using methods of life-cycle assessment of buildings, matrix methods of the actions that cause severe environmental impact and statistical processing through multivariate analysis. A study of projects was undertaken in Cayo Coco located to the north of Ciego de Avila, Cuba, being built today and where the tourist development of the archipelago Sabana-Camaguey started. It has been determined that suitable architecture would decrease the negative impact of these fragile ecosystems.

Lourdes Ruiz
Journal of Building Construction and Planning Research (JBCPR) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jbcpr.2016.41005
Abstract: The aim of this study is to apply the methodology for assessment of environmental impact whether of a physicochemical nature and on the biodiversity and ecosystems, or whether sociocultural and economic aspects of the historic towns with tourism interest that are assessed. The automated method of the RIAM software is used which requires a baseline study of the environment of different towns to be prepared. In addition, the analysis of the social perception on tourism of the local people from the course work of students at the UIDE shall be applied. The conclusions of the case studies undertaken allow for strategic proposals and recommendations to be prepared so that they can be incorporated into the management plans for tourism in the historic towns with heritage value.
Incorporation of Environmental and Sustainable Indicators in Universities  [PDF]
Lourdes Ruiz
Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2016.76075
Abstract:

The use of environmental and sustainable indicators of global organizations has greater advantages than those of national initiatives or those developed by researchers in said subject, due to the fact that they have a much broader scope for sustainability, have been applied in a systematic manner and therefore have greater comparability and reliability. The environmental indicators are constructed from the approaches to sustainable development in universities with regards to the social, economic, institutional and environmental dimensions in the organizations. This work involves the application of environmental and sustainable indicators for internationally recognized efficiency in university activities, which contribute towards organizing, summarizing and developing the processes for development planning and environmental management.

Adverse Environmental Effects of Tourism on Communities in the Ecuadorian Highlands Region  [PDF]
Lourdes Ruiz
Current Urban Studies (CUS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/cus.2017.53019
Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine the adverse environmental effects of tourism activities on various heritage populations located in the sierra or Andean highlands region of Ecuador. The effects being studied have been classified into impacts on the physical, abiotic, biotic, socio-culture and economic environment. The automated method using RIAM (Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix) software was employed in this analysis, which required the preparation of a baseline study in the small communities evaluated. A social perception survey was conducted of local residents regarding tourism, assisted by International University of Ecuador students fulfilling practical coursework requirements. Based on the conclusions of the case studies, some strategic proposals and recommendations were developed that can be incorporated into sustainable tourism management plans in communities with natural and cultural heritage values.
Estimación del estrés parietal sistólico del ventrículo izquierdo por imagen de resonancia magnética: Una nueva aproximación al estudio de la poscarga
Cué Carpio, José Ramón;Meave, Aloha;Guadalajara Boo, José Fernando;
Archivos de cardiología de México , 2005,
Abstract: objective: to determine the systolic parietal stress of the left ventricle by image of magnetic resonance in healthy subjects. material and methods: 21 healthy subjects studied: 11 male and 10 female: the ages among 26 and 31 years (29.33). a magnetic resonance of heart was made using the short axis at the level of the papillary muscles, from where the epicardio and endocardio areas of the left ventricular cavity were obtained in diastolic as in systolic by means of the layout with an electronic pencil, later the radius of each drawn up area was calculated, with the value of the radius, the diastolic and systolic thickness was calculated; to obtain the relation between thickness/radio. once the relation was obtained between thickness/radio in diastole as systole the degree of change between both values and the percentage of this change was calculated. finally, the systolic parietal stress developed by the left ventricle was calculate with the following formula: s=pvi x a4/a3-a4 x 1.35.pvi: systolic pressure of the left ventricle (the average of 5 synchronized systolic arterial pressures, obtained by an esphingomanometer). a4: endocardio area in systole; a3: epicardial area in systole. the value obtained in this equation was multiplied per 1.35 to turn mmhg gm/cm2. results: the average of the arterial systolic pressure was of 103.24 ± 10.27 mmhg; a3 (average 27.58 ± 2.29); a4 (average 6.84 ± 0.71); being the systolic stress of the left ventricle of 46.12 ± 4.9 gm/cm2, not existing significant differences between sexes. conclusions: with this new method it is possible to determine with greater exactitude in a noninvasive way, through the best definition of its epicardio and endocardic edges, the areas and the radio of the left ventricular cavity in systole as in diastole, to determine the thickness of the wall and its relation with the radius, for one better valuation of the ventricular function, specially in those subjects with overloads of volume or pressure that de
