Odonto , 2010,
Abstract: Objetivo: avaliar o padr o respiratório de crian as asmáticas.
Pediatric medicines and their relationship to dental caries
Menezes, Valdenice Aparecida de;Cavalcanti, Gabriela;Mora, Cristiana;Garcia, Ana Flávia Granville;Leal, Rossana Barbosa;
Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-82502010000100018
Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate mothers' knowledge about the cariogenic potential of pediatric medicines. a total of 111 mothers were interviewed using a standardized form containing 15 questions relating to the association of pediatric drug use with dental caries and oral hygiene care. descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square test and fisher's exact) were used at a significance of 5%. most of the mothers were aged 40 years or under (77.4%), high school educated (30.6%) and not working (50.5%). the association between medication use and dental caries or defects in teeth structure was mentioned by 35 (43.2%) mothers, 33 of whom (40.7%) cited this was due to the presence of sugar in the formulations. only 32 mothers (28.8%) performed oral hygiene for the child after drugs ingestion, although 81.1% (n = 90) had never received guidance on the importance of this practice. the type of occupation and maternal education level were not significant in these issues (p> 0.05). pediatric medicines can create problems for the teeth and a high percentage of mothers are unable to establish a clear cause and effect relationship with this association. therefore, the pharmaceutical industry needs to be more aware of this and should prepare pediatric medicines without the presence of sucrose.

Ownership Concentration, Top Management and Board Compensation
Marcos Barbosa Pinto,Ricardo Pereira Camara Leal
Revista de Administra??o Contemporanea , 2013,
Abstract: The degree of ownership concentration may influence executive and board compensation (Bebchuk & Fried, 2003). This article analyzes this relationship. Detailed information about top management and board compensation became available starting in 2010 through new Securities Commission filings. Linear regression models applied to a sample of 315 Brazilian companies traded on the national exchange indicate a negative and statistically significant economic correlation between executive compensation and the degree of ownership concentration. Ceteris paribus, companies with a lower degree of ownership concentration pay higher compensation to top executives. Family controlled companies pay more to their chief executive, but not to the managerial team as a whole, and the compensation of directors increases with a greater proportion of control group members or their relatives on the board. There was support for the Managerial Power Hypothesis in companies with a lower degree of ownership concentration and for the extraction of private benefits in companies where it is greater.
Marking small tropical fish with Visual Implant Fluorescent Elastomer (VIFE)

Biotemas , 2012,
Abstract: Several fish-marking techniques are used to diagnose the population dynamics of species. However, marks should not interfere with behavior, growth and reproduction of the involved population. For this reason, VIFE (Visible Implant Fluorescent Elastomer) was developed. This study reports the use of VIFE to mark two small tropical species, Bryconamericus iheringii and Rineloricaria malabarbai, in a controlled environment. We captured 30 individuals of B. iheringii and 30 of R. malabarbai by electrofishing. The fish were marked and observed for 90 days, and there was no instant mortality after inserting the elastomer. During the first 70 days there was low mortality and high retention rates, but many elastomers broke into smaller fragments. Based on the low mortality and high retention rates found in this analysis, the use of VIFE is recommended for similar studies.
