Disabled person an evolutionary perspective: conceptual analysis

Abstract: The study aimed to analyze the concept of disabled person, using stages of the Evolutionary Model in public policy documents issued between 1981 and 2008, highlighting essential attributes and antecedent and consequent events of the concept. Among the antecedent events, education, discrimination, inclusion and rights were the main issues. As for attributes, terms like loss, disability, limitation, restriction, deficit and hindrance were observed. The consequent events showed expressions like uncovered needs, exclusion from society, non-enforcement of laws, need to change attitudes in society. It was concluded that the nomenclature to designate the disabled person has changed, but not enough to make society look at these clients with new eyes.

It was aimed to describe the experiences at the practice of sexuality of women with physical disabilities. This study is part of a doctoral thesis entitled sexuality in women with acquired deficiency: nursing in health promotion and empowerment. It was conducted an exploratory descriptive study with qualitative approach, which was carried out from June to October, in the year of 2010. The survey participants were six women members of an association of people with physical disabilities. Data collection was based on focal group. Analysis and discussion by means of the classification of the speeches were performed according to the analysis of content and pertinent literature. In the results, the following categories and sub-categories were identified: concepts, covering self-image and sexuality; social actors, responsible for the promotion of sexuality, with highlight for men, family and health professionals; challenges experienced in the practice of sexuality, with highlight on prejudice and fear of sexual abuse due to the disability. We could state that the focus groups favored the discussion and the self-knowledge of the women with respect to sexuality.

Abstract: this paper presents a descriptive study which focuses on cultural construction of sexuality, media influences on human sexuality, and how nurses should consider the sexual education process. the investigation considered texts in the field of humanities and health. it was utilised the analytical construction to categorize the discursives retails. the analysis has been supported by differents references. it was concluded that gender relations are based on categorizations which crosses the social order and it determinates the symbolic domination. the symbolics systems are still unaltered and it centred on the male domination. there are some movements regarding as a uncomun which try to validate a cartography of sexuality which subverts the identity idea historically as known as pathriarchal. the nurse needs contribute to improve the knowledge of the population regarding human sexuality.
Policies for the inclusion of disabled people: limits and possibilities

Abstract: this study aimed to investigate the impact of the national policy for the integration of disabled people in brazil and to analyze which aspects of this policy are evidenced in academic publications. data were collected in indexed databases and academic bibliography. the sample composition criteria permitted the inclusion of texts on social inclusion and public inclusion policies. data were analyzed according to thematic content analysis. it is concluded that disabled people have conquered a policy that guarantees access to goods and services, but face difficulties to achieve inclusion in education and the job market, due to the lack of education, qualification and resistance strategies by companies that refuse to hire them. the academic discourse highlights social inclusion problems, prioritizing rights to education, jobs and health care, to the detriment of rights related to culture, tourism and leisure.

Abstract: objective: to identify knowledge production by healthcare professionals about blood transfusion in jehovah's witnesses (jw), listing the therapeutic alternatives for blood transfusion in these individuals and citing the legal, ethical and bioethical standards regarding blood transfusion in jws. methods: data were collected in the lilacs and scielo databases, nursing journals and on http://www.google.com.br. articles focusing on blood transfusion in jws were included, and texts that were repeated or did not approach this theme were excluded. content analysis was used. results: the thematic categories show that the jws accept self-transfusion and are opposed to the medical practice of blood transfusion, even if it represents the continuity of life. conclusion: healthcare professionals experience ethical dilemmas when they need to perform blood transfusion in jws due to the fact that religious freedom is not an absolute value, and the apparent collision of fundamental rights demands that a decision be made, centered on legal standards and bioethical principles.

Abstract: descriptive study which aims to verify if the herbalist offer the information correct for the use of the medicinal plants; if they give for the customers concerning the possible poisonings or interaction with the allopathic guide and also if there is a criteria for the commercialization of the phytotherapics. a questionnaire was used containing open and closed questions involving aspects of the performance of the herbalists with the phytotherapics. the herbalists know the majority of the medicinal plants, however, there are some gaps concerning the correct indication of these products, of the collateral effect and toxicities. the herbalist lack to better know the principles of the grass, the therapeutically indications active, to guide the users concerning the possible pharmacological interactions or medicaments poisonings and regarding the cleanness, storage, time of useful life and contraindications of the product.

Abstract: this study aimed to identify the difficulties related to the first aids during one students competition and also it correlates the experience learned regarding technician aspects, cientifics and ethical approaches when the performance of the first-aid nurse. the report was taking into account the production basis regarding the performance of the first aids professionals and a workshop of consensus to solve ethical dilemmas. it was described the taking decision ethical, the material resources available and also the harms which might affected the physical integrity of the athletes and the interventions executed. it was concluded that the sports has a feature of preventive and curative medicine that demands the moral commitment of the organizers to provide the necessary material resources for occasion of some damage suffered for the athletes.

Abstract: It was aimed to investigate what actions taken in Basic Health Units of the Family-(BHUF) to meet the demands of adults with spinal cord injury (SCI) post-rehabilitation, list facilities/difficulties to meet the demands of users. Descriptive study conducted in twenty BHUF. Twenty doctors and twenty nurses, randomly selected, participated in the study. To collect and analyze data, it was used semi-structured interviews and analysis of content. The categories were based on the integrality, universality, charity and justice principles. It was found: professional disqualification to assist people with SCI, fragmented care, difficult to schedule consultations and examinations, difficulties in the reference and counter reference system, and lack of ongoing actions to take care of individuals with SCI. The BHUF not ensure the protection of all citizens, there are challenges to the construction practices of health solidarity, warm and consequently more effective and decisive for individuals with SCI. El estudio objetivó averiguar cuáles las acciones realizadas en las Unidades Básicas de Salud de la Familia-UBSF para atender demandas de los adultos con lesión espinal (LE) después de la rehabilitación, enumerar facilidades/dificultades para atender demandas de eses usuarios. Estudio cualitativo realizado en veinte UBSF. Participaron, de forma aleatoria, veinte médicos y veinte enfermeros. Para colectar y analizar los datos, fueron utilizados entrevista semiestructurada y análisis de contenido. El análisis de las categorías se basó en los principios de integralidad, universalidad, beneficencia, justicia. Se verificó: descalificación profesional para asistir las personas con LE, fragmentación de la asistencia, dificultades en marcar consultas y exámenes, dificultades en la referencia y contra-referencia, inexistencia de acciones constantes para cuidar de las personas con LE. Las UBSF non aseguran la protección de todos los ciudadanos, pues existe desafíos para la construcción de prácticas de salud que sean solidarias, acogedoras, más efectivas y resolutivas para los sujetos con LE. Sexuality of disabled people and vulnerability to AIDS: sistematic literature review

Abstract: The objective was to focus on the AIDS epidemic, identify the attitudinal barriers that put Disabled People (DP) in terms of vulnerability to HIV infection and discuss the National Health Policy for People with Disabilities concerning to actions to the prevention, control and increase access of DP-care services to STD / AIDS. Justification: lack of interest of DP for the prevention of STD / AIDS, lack of studies on sexual / reproductive health of these individuals. It was analyzed 24 texts. Methodology: it was used bibliographic access and virtual in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE, COCHRANE, SCIELO, and Website of NGOs and the Ministry of Health. Results: advance of the AIDS with feminization of the epidemic, sexuality and vulnerability denial of DP to AIDS. Fragmentation of health policy for these people. Conclusion: AIDS prevention depends on behavioral change related to sexuality and drug addiction. The DP are considered asexual and immune to AIDS; health policy focused on prevention of disabilities and rehabilitation. Basic health care provides assistance as standard model, not considering education in sexual health for DP.
Characterization of dissertations and theses of a post-graduate program in nursing in Ceará: descriptive-exploratory study

Abstract: Descriptive study, exploratory and quantitative. The aim was to characterize the production of the Nursing Post-Graduate Program at the Federal University of Ceará, through the thesis. The accessibility was used as a criterion for inclusion in the sample, comprising 196 dissertations and 76 thesis presented between 1995 and 2007. The variables were: years of defense, approach, background, sample, the theoretical framework and lines of research, being categorized as defining the area of Nursing / CAPES. Descriptive statistics was used and the analysis was guided by the relevant literature on the subject. The results showed a preference for qualitative approaches, samples of adults, women and nurses in the hospital setting. The benchmarks used were more nursing theories, in addition to phenomenology and Social representations. The research lines that predominated were Procedure of caring and caring in nursing, related to care area. The results can map the knowledge produced, showing strengths, weaknesses and direction in trying to achieve excellence of the program.
