Eqüidade de gênero e saúde das mulheres
Fonseca, Rosa Maria Godoy Serpa da;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342005000400012
Abstract: two stories are told: one that took place in the middle ages in florence, italy, the other in the 90s in rio de janeiro, brazil. both refer to the principle of justice, the ethical pillar of equality. from them is developed a gender analysis of the women's health situation and how much it reflects the iniquities that result from the conditions of social inequality to which they are subjected. the conclusion is that the adoption of gender equality as an ethical concept associated with the principles of social justice and human rights means to look over the daily life of thousands of women, to be indignant with the suffering and to bring about transformation, without mixing the right for dignified and respectable assistance because they are being, before anything, citizens, with the need to be healthy and productive, for being generators and maintainers of the present and future work force, of whom society depends for generating social wealth.

Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342007000200006
Abstract: this study has as its objective to explain the assistance to the school age child's health under the light of historic and dialectic materialism, including gender for the social approach. the results regarding the interviewees' representations (health professionals, teachers and mothers) revealed that the conceptions about the health-illness process of school pupils are highly biologicist, even though there were - but in a much smaller scale - references to its psychic and social dimensions. the data analysis, according to the feminist theory, shows that the idea of gender inferiority is the origin of the biased conceptions regarding the mothers of the studied children. such prejudices were observed in the three locations studied (heath service, school and family).
