International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology , 2006,

Rea,Marina Ferreira; Cukier,Rosa;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 1988, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89101988000300004
Abstract: reasons, alleged by mothers, for early weaning and for the introduction of breast-milk substitutes were studied, in 1985, in a public maternity hospital of s. paulo city. these mothers were part of an intervention project to support and promote breast-feeding through public health services. eight hundred and seventy-five women were followed up from delivery to the 4th month of the baby's life. reasons for weaning were collected immediately afterwards ("single interview") and were also again asked for when the mother returned to the health unit ("multiple interview"). all the reasons given were collected and classified according to "responsibility": of the mother (her own desire to wean), of her baby (attributed to the baby), of her body (the mother's physical reasons) and of other people (doctor, husband, neighbor, etc.). the most prevalent reasons for the introduction of breast-milk substitutes, according to "multiple interview", were: mother had to work out (20.5%), got agitated (12.5%) and convenience (11.0%). according to "single interview" they were: the baby's crying (23.0%), prior conceptions of infant feeding (12.5%), working out (11.0%). these differences were not so evident among the reasons for complete weaning; however, considering weaning as a long process in which the reasons for the introduction of breast-milk substitutes may be linked to reasons for the "sevrage", the advantages of utilizing all the answers of different contacts with the women ("multiple interview") over against just one answer given on one ocasion as a contribution to the clarification of the weaning process in each cultural site, is indicated. the reasons gathered and classified according to "responsibility" show that "multiple interview" beings to light more answers related to the desire to wean on the part of the mother herself than the baby, or the mother's body. it is argued that the health system has limits to its ability to intervene in the most prevalent reasons for early we

Rosa, Paulo Roberto Alves;Ferreira, Cesar Ribeiro;
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X2005000500032
Abstract: progressive supranuclear palsy (psp) is one of the most important causes of parkinsonism non responsive to therapy. vascular parkinsonism is not uncommon. however, the cause-effect relationship between them is uncertain. we report on a 65 years old man with probable psp who developed the clinical features of the disease after a ischaemic stroke. magnetic resonance imaging disclosed a corticospinal tract wallerian degeneration. there is not such an observation in the literature about this possible correlation.
Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae) as a potential Brassica napus pollinator (cv. Hyola 432) (Brassicaceae), in Southern Brazil
Rosa, AS.;Blochtein, B.;Ferreira, NR.;Witter, S.;
Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842010000500024
Abstract: brassica napus linnaeus is considered a self-compatible crop; however, studies show that bee foraging elevates their seed production. considering bee food shortages during the winter season and that the canola is a winter crop, this study aimed to evaluate the foraging behaviour of apis mellifera linnaeus, 1758 regarding those flowers, and to verify if it presents adequate behaviour for successfully pollinating this crop in rio grande do sul state. the study was carried out in a canola field, in southern brazil. the anthesis stages were morphologically characterised and then related to stigma receptivity and pollen grain viability. similarly, the behaviour of a. mellifera individuals on flowers was followed, considering the number of flowers visited per plant, the amount of time spent on the flowers, touched structures, and collected resources. floral fidelity was inferred by analysing the pollen load of bees collected on flowers. the bees visited from 1-7 flowers/plant (x = 2.02; sd = 1.16), the time spent on the flowers varied between 1-43 seconds (x = 3.29; sd = 2.36) and, when seeking nectar and pollen, they invariably touched anthers and stigmas. the pollen load presented 100% of b. napus pollen. the bees' attendance to a small number of flowers/plants, their short permanence on flowers, their contact with anthers and stigma and the integral floral constancy allows their consideration as potential b. napus pollinators.
Comunica o pública, cidadania e democracia - algumas reflex es
Tiago Mainieri,Elisa Costa Ferreira Rosa
Revista Comunica??o Midiática , 2012,
Abstract: Public communication is one element that permeates the Federal Constitution. To understand how it is treated as a fundamental right of every citizen, we must understand two concepts: democracy and citizenship. This article proposes a reflection of how communication can be an instrument of citizenship. The first part deals with changing concepts of citizenship and democracy, because it is understood that the two terms are linked since its inception. Secondly, we present the public communication and the various points of view in which the term is discussed. Finally, considerations are made of how a democratic society and conscious has its foundations in a well-established citizenship by means of public communication.
