Rogério Ferreira de Sousa
Revista da Faculdade de Letras : Historia , 2007,
Abstract: The statuette of Ptah-Sokar-Osiris is one of the most interesting objects of the Egyptian collection of the Porto University Museum of Natural History. Besides offering a morphological and iconographical description of the small monument, this article also seeks to provide clues to understanding its religious meaning, as well as its ritual use.
Os Mistérios do Além no Antigo Egipto : quest es sobre a explora o museológica de um quadro conceptual
Rogério Ferreira de Sousa
Revista da Faculdade de Letras : Historia , 2008,
Abstract: This article aims to point out the possibilities offered by a theoretical frame to the development of an exhibition plan. The Mysteries of the Beyond in Ancient Egypt , the subject of the exhibition that took place in the Casa-Museu Teixeira Lopes from 26th February to the 26th of March of 2008, are here discussed from a theoretical point of view, in order to identify the guidelines that should have been present in the museological treatment of the Egyptian collection of Museu de História Natural da Universidade do Porto. The problems raised by the lack of scientific criteria adopted in the museological work are thus the main topic of our discussion.
Estranhamento e riso no cinema contemporaneo
Silva, Pablo Augusto;Antunes, Rogério Ferreira;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142010000300015
Abstract: this article is a critical analysis from bamboozled film, launched in 2000 by spike lee. in his work, particularly in this film, there are conceptual influences from two of the most important authors: bertold brecht and his alienation effect or "v-effekt" (from the german verfremdungseffekt ), and henri bergson with his conception of laughter and its specific function and social meaning. the spike lee's work, opened in the modernist sense, brings a didactic-pedagogic intention about the using and the deconstruction of eurocentric image - which has not been sufficiently examined and understood by the criticism yet.
Feeding pattern and use of reproductive habitat of the Striped toad Rhinella crucifer (Anura: Bufonidae) from Southeastern Brazil
Rodrigo B. Ferreira,Rogério L. Teixeira
Acta Herpetologica , 2009,
Abstract: Diet composition, foraging mode, and using of reproductive habitat of Rhinella crucifer was studied in an artificial pond in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The favored substrate was leaf litter, followed by Cyperaceae/Poaceae. Calling sites, preferred for 23.3 % (n = 7) of the observed toads, were within the water, with only the head not submerged. We analyzed a total of 61 specimens, mainly males (98.5% male and 1.5% female). Seven categories of prey were found in the stomach contents: Coleoptera, Hymenoptera (Formicidae), Isoptera, Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Gastropoda (Mollusca), Opilionida (Arachnida). Our studies indicate that the diet of Rhinella crucifer consists mainly of terrestrial colonial arthropods. Formicidae was the predominant food item in frequency of occurrence, number of prey and weight. Isoptera and Coleoptera were also relevant in terms of weight. Neither large ontogenetic dietary nor seasonal shifts were observed in the population studied. Our results suggest that no intraspecific food resource partitioning occurs in adult or juveniles. Rhinella crucifer adults avoid competition inhabiting different home range habitats and seem to be ant-specialist with a wide foraging mode.

Discursos Fotográficos , 2005,
Abstract: This article is focused on the work of the advertising photographer and his importance to marketing communication. It describes the planning of an advertisement campaign, with emphasis on the work and responsibility of the photographer for its success. Image premeditation is dealt with, starting in the cares to its production and language employed in order to obtain the best result in the reader/customer communication process. For a closing, it contrasts the main objective of photography – recording reality – with the fantasy created in advertising production.
Fourier and Wavelet Spectral Analysis of EMG Signals in 1-km Cycling Time-Trial  [PDF]

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.513181
Abstract: Frequency domain analyses in electromyographic (EMG) signals are frequently applied to assess muscle fatigue and similar variables. Moreover, Fourier-based approaches are typically used for investigating these procedures. Nonetheless, Fourier analysis assumes the signal as stationary which is unlikely during dynamic contractions. As an alternative method, wavelet-based treatments do not assume this pattern and may be considered as more appropriate for joint time-frequency domain analysis. Based on the previous statements, the purpose of the present study was to compare the application of Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) to assess muscle fatigue in dynamic exercise of a 1-km of cycling (time-trial condition). The results of this study indicated that CWT and STFT analyses have provided similar fatigue estimates (slope) (p> 0.05). However, CWT application represents lesser dispersion (p< 0.05) for vastus medialis (189.9 ± 82.1 for STFT vs 148.6 ± 60.2 for CWT) and vastus lateralis (151.6 ± 49.6 for STFT vs 103.5 ± 27.9 for CWT). In conclusion, despite the EMG signal did not change (p> 0.05) according to different methods, it is important to note that these responses seem to show greater values for CWT compared to STFT for 2 superficial muscles. Thereby, we are capable of considering CWT as a reliable and useful method to take into consideration when non-stationary or oscillating exercise models are evaluated.

Journal of Geographic Information System (JGIS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jgis.2017.95037
Abstract: There has been great interest on the part of public and private initiatives in knowing the location of urban areas with potential for investments in social resources. The aim of the present article is to propose a methodology to identify such areas, using the city of São Paulo (Brazil) as a case study. This approach, supported by The Geographic Information System (GIS), is based on multicriteria analysis and quantification of spatial data. The results, presented spatially in a synthesis map, made possible to identify promissory areas for social investment in São Paulo. The method allows us to analyze data at different spatial scales from the GIS base, enabling a systematization to find out areas with higher potential for investment in social equipment, services and facilities. Furthermore, it gives possibility of modeling several variables, thus being adaptable to different geographic areas.
Primeiro relato de mancha foliar em Cedrela odorata causada por Pseudobeltrania cedrelae
Hanada, Rogério E.;Gasparotto, Luadir;Ferreira, Francisco A.;
Fitopatologia Brasileira , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-41582005000300015
Abstract: a disease causing leaf spot and defoliation on cedrela odorata trees planted in an embrapa experimental area near manaus, brazil, is first reported here. lesions start as yellow halos surrounding small light-brown points. later, necrotic brown lesions are observed exhibiting many black small structures in the central portion, corresponding to fructifications of pseudobeltrania cedrelae and colletotrichum gloeosporioides. when p. cedrelae was inoculated the leaf disease was reproduced.

Lautenschlager, Sandro Rogério;Ferreira Filho, Sidney Seckler;Pereira, Osni;
Engenharia Sanitaria e Ambiental , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-41522009000200009
Abstract: the utilization of membrane processes in environmental engineering has expanded significantly in the last few years. this paper had the primary objective of defining an optimization technique for ultrafiltration (uf) membrane operation by studying uf membrane operation and backwashing cycles. the main importance of uf operation optimization is to maximize permeation production as a function of time. experimental tests were conducted with two uf membranes with different molecular weight cutoff. the experimental results led to the proposition of a mathematical model for the optimization of uf systems; such optimization conducted in practice to an increase of 14% in the permeate volume production.
Análise do termo de primeira ordem das séries de Molodenskii para o problema de valor de contorno da geodésia
Ferreira, Vagner Gon?alves;De Freitas, Silvio Rogério Correia;
Boletim de Ciências Geodésicas , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-21702010000400005
Abstract: the main purpose of this paper is to evaluate the first-order term of the molodenskii series by using different approaches, which approaches are: the solution given by molodenskii; the solution using the vertical gradient in accordance with moritz as an approximation of term; and by using the terrain correction which is an approximation for . the two first solutions are coherent with each other under the conditions here analyzed. the comparison was made in terms of the first order height anomaly. considering the final quasi-geoid, the use of terrain correction instead of the term was efficient in terms of the evaluation by using independent data; in this case, 42 gps points on benchmarks. the methodology, results and discussions, conclusions and practical recommendations are presented in the paper.
