The article deals with the Capacitated Location Routing Problem (CLRP) where the goal is to determine the depots to be opened, the customers to be assigned to each deposit opened, and the routes to be constructed for fulfilling customers' demands. The objective is to minimize the sum of costs resulting from opening depots, costs resulting from used vehicles, and variable costs associated to the distance across the routes. In this paper, a metaheuristic based on simulated annealing with granular search space for solving the CLRP is proposed. Computational experiments on benchmarking instances taken from literature show that the proposed algorithm is able to obtain high-quality solutions within reasonable computational times, thus showing its efficiency.

Abstract:
Two Opposed Models of Approaching the Relationship between Art and Society and the Proposal of “Social-Aesthetic Constructs” as a Possibility of Mediation  [PDF]
Rodrigo Duarte
Art and Design Review (ADR) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/adr.2018.61001
Abstract: The objective of this article is to investigate two opposed models of approaching the relationship between art and society. The first one—that of Jacques Rancière—stresses the idea of aesthetic autonomy as a result of a historical process that began with Kant’s Critique of Judgement, reaching its most developed form in contemporaneity, and the second model, represented here by Richard Shusterman (inspired by John Dewey pragmatist aesthetics), focuses on the deep roots that artistic phenomena have in society and culminates with his analysis of the hip hop culture. Taking into account as well their respectively fruitfulness as some of their limitations and inspired by Theodor Adorno, I propose the concept of “social-aesthetic construct”, which is meant to be a mediation between the aforementioned opposed models.
The messier objects as a tool in teaching astronomy  [PDF]
Jesus Rodrigo F. Torres
Natural Science (NS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ns.2013.53044
Abstract:

The French astronomer Charles Messier (1730- 1817) compiled a catalogue [1] of astronomical objects which reached109 innumber after additions by later astronomers were added. The catalogue contains galaxies, emission nebulae, a supernova remnant, a double star, globular clusters, open clusters, an asterism, a star cloud, and planetary nebulae. While the objective of Messier in compiling the catalogue was to guide comet hunters not to be confused by his objects which he thought looked like comets [2], the Messier Catalogue as it later became known became a standard guide to astronomers for a study of the sky’s “greatest hits” or the best samples of objects which can be observed and studied. This paper explores the value of the Messier Catalogue in the teaching of Astronomy and Earth Science. The range of objects is wide and contains some of the best examples of their type. The teaching method I propose is the actual observations of the objects through a telescope, with the corresponding explanation. Some principles which will be covered through this process are stellar evolution from the birth and death of stars, galaxy types, formation of galaxies, galactic interactions, life in the Universe, cosmology, and our place in the Universe.

An Option Pricing Analysis of Exotic Bonus Certificates—The Case of Bonus Certificates PLUS  [PDF]
Rodrigo Hernandez, Pu Liu
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2014.45044
Abstract:

In this paper we introduce a new financial product named Bonus Certificates PLUS and we provide detailed descriptions of the product specifications. We show that the payoff of a Bonus Certificates PLUS can be duplicated by the combination of a long position in the underlying asset, a short position on zero coupon bonds, a long position in down-and-out call options on the underlying asset, a long position in down-and-in call options on the underlying asset, and a long position in the down-and-out put options. We develop a pricing formula to price the certificates. A sample of ten Bonus Certificates PLUS outstanding on December 2007 is presented as an example to examine how well the model fits empirical data. The profitability in the primary market is examined and the results show that issuing Bonus Certificates PLUS is a profitable business. The results are in line with previous studies pricing other structured products. Finally, we simulate and present the sensitivities of the certificates to changes in different pricing inputs.

Abstract:

This paper introduces a new financial product named Certificates on a Straddle with Forward Start and provides detailed descriptions of the product specifications. It shows that the payoff of a Certificate on a Straddle with Forward Start can be duplicated by the combination of long positions in call and put options on the underlying asset. A pricing formula is developed to price the certificates. A certificate issued by Credit Suisse is presented as an example to examine how well the model fits empirical data. The results show that issuing Certificates on a Straddle with Forward Start is a profitable business and the results are in line with previous studies pricing other structured products.

Artificial Neural Network Model for Predicting Lung Cancer Survival  [PDF]
Hansapani Rodrigo, Chris P. Tsokos
Journal of Data Analysis and Information Processing (JDAIP) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jdaip.2017.51003
Abstract: The object of our present study is to develop a piecewise constant hazard model by using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to capture the complex shapes of the hazard functions, which cannot be achieved with conventional survival analysis models like Cox proportional hazard. We propose a more convenient approach to the PEANN created by Fornili et al. to handle a large amount of data. In particular, it provides much better prediction accuracies over both the Poisson regression and generalized estimating equations. This has been demonstrated with lung cancer patient data taken from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program. The quality of the proposed model is evaluated by using several error measurement criteria.
La Iglesia y la universalidad de la salvación en el cristianismo
Polanco,Rodrigo;
Teología y vida , 2003, DOI: 10.4067/S0049-34492003000400005
Abstract: the present article is a reflection about the universality of the salvation in the christianity. it begins defining the salvation as men's communion with god and among men, with the meaning of plenitude for mankind. then, it refers to christ as the only mediator between god and mankind, because it is god himself incarnated as a man, insuperable plenitude of the revelation. this salvation, because of its characteristics of definite and absolute, becomes eschatological and universal. on the other hand, if the whole mankind has been transformed (=sanctified) for the coming of christ, it is called at the same time to receive conscious and freely this universal salvation. it is the god's kingdom that has broken into earth. then, the article studies the role of the church in this universal salvation: as of incarnation, that has done the concrete way of salvation, the church has established as sacrament, that means, the universal sign and instrument of salvation. it is the presence of christ in the everlasting history of salvation. the church, although is a little flock, at the same time it is the safe germ of salvation, because it is, at the same time, sacrament of god's kingdom, sacrament of christ dead and resurrected, sacrament of holy spirit and eschatological reality. afterwards, the author reflects on the fact of the sacramental characteristic of the church: the "ecclesial" (ie. the formal and established organization) belongs to the essence of the relation of man with god, and the symbolic-sacramental belongs to the essence of human communication. that is the reason, the word, in the incarnation, has assumed the human reality and has become the father's sacraments, and the church has come about the sacrament of christ. god himself gives himself as such, in the finite sign and sinner that the church is. the article finishes with the topic of necessity of the church. as sacrament of christ, the church is necessary to the salvation as soon as objectivization of the wi

Abstract: la legua has likely consolidated as a recognizable entity within the urban weave of santiago because of the superposition of segregation, political conflicts and a disciplined culture. the structure of its community and its culture have been what have marked its boundaries with precision, rather than its spatial reality.
