Synthesis of adaptive impedance control for bipedal robot mechanisms
Petrovi? Milena,RodiAleksandar
Journal of Automatic Control , 2008, DOI: 10.2298/jac0801015p
Abstract: The paper describes the impedance algorithm in locomotion of humanoid robot with proposed parameter modulation depending on the gate phase. The analysis shows influence of walking speed and foot elevation on regulator's parameters. Chosen criterion cares for footpath tracking and needed energy for that way of walking. The experiments give recommendation for impedance regulator tuning.
Successful treatment of laryngomalacia and bilateral vocal cord paralysis with continuous positive airway pressure

Abstract: Introduction Laryngomalacia is the most frequent congenital anomaly of airways, and it may cause obstructive sleep apneas. The associated vocal cord paralysis may aggravate the symptoms of upper airway obstruction. Case report In a 14 month old boy severe laryngomalacia and bilateral vocal cord paralysis were diagnosed by flexible bronchoscopy. A sleep study showed a severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). The patient was ventilated at home via the face mask with non invasive mechanical ventilation (CPAP) for a year. The level of pressure had to be set at 7cm H2O to correct desaturation with an improvement in mean SpO2. On the follow up bronchoscopic examination laryngomalatia was improved, vocal cord paralysis persisted and sleep study revealed significant improvement. Discussion In the patient with severe laryngomalatia and bilateral vocal cord paralysis with OSA conservative treatment with CPAP was used instead of a surgical intervention. Non invasive ventilation was used every night, for at least 6 hours, without adverse events. Invasive measurement of transdiaphragmatic pressure is the best way of titrating of CPAP level. This case report suggests the efficacy of noninvasive titrating of CPAP level by the hemoglobin oxygen saturation trend measurement. Conclusion In case of severe laryngomalatia and associated vocal cord paralysis, followed by OSA non invasive ventilation by nasal CPAP represents an effective and safe alternative to surgery.
Mobile agents for distributed decision support systems
Blaz Rodi
International Scientific Journal of Management Information Systems , 2011,
Abstract: This article focuses on the performance of Java based mobile agents using format translation via an intermediary XML based format. Our goal was to develop and verify the performance of a lightweight, mobile agent based solution that would allow strong security, portability and access to heterogeneous data resources from a mobile platform to facilitate exchange of data between simulation models and data resources. We have developed two types of agents: a mobile agent that functions as a server for queries in SQL and converts the query results into XML documents and a stationary agent acting as a client for query forwarding and conversion of received documents into text files readable by a client application. We have tested the performance of the agents in a distributed simulation scenario and established that the agents can be used to connect heterogeneous simulation models and other applications, improving their connectivity and usability.

The increasing popularity of web technologies combined with the increasing availability of editors to promote the dissemination of material in electronic form have created new needs in the academic and scientific world. To contribute to the creation of a digital library for the scientific community, CILEA began in 1998, the project of the CDL CILEA Digital Library. The purpose of the service is to enable the acquisition, access and preservation of digital documents (journals, monographs, and databases). The article describes the state of the CDL and the new initiatives.
DC-Link Based Micro-grid System  [PDF]
Miro Milanovi?, Mitja Trunti?, Miran Rodi
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2013.54B278

Design and evaluation of dynamic model of multi-input/multi-output power converter consisting of six converters connected by dc-link will be presented in the paper. The model was created in Matlab/Simulink based on the existing system, with the goal of evaluating various power management strategies, where only transient behavior in case of changed operating regime is of interest. In future the model will be used as a Software-In-the-Loop development tool for the design of supervisory control algorithms.

Laozi and Truman: A Hyperrealist Perspective  [PDF]
Aleksandar Stamatov
Open Journal of Philosophy (OJPP) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojpp.2019.92013
Abstract: This paper will use the concept of hyperreality to compare the so-called ideal state described by ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi with the world of The Truman Show. The concept of hyperreality is defined by Jean Baudrillard as the generation by models of a real without origin or reality. A hyperreal world is a simulation, or kind of a copy without its original. It is generally accepted, and confirmed by Baudrillard himself, that the world of The Truman Show is hyperreal. In order to compare Laozi’s ideal state with the world of the film, this paper will give a hyperrealist interpretation of the former, which will be only hypothetical, without intending to substitute any other existing interpretations. Laozi imagines that people live simple lives, with few desires and without traveling to other places. If we accept that the ideal state is a hyperreal world, we can make comparison between the two worlds; find out their similarities, as well as differences.
