Revista Chapingo. Serie horticultura , 2008,
Abstract: acetyl salicylic acid and bacillus subtilis, as resistance promoters, were evaluated on cucurbita pepo cv. zucchinni grey infected by cucumber mosaic virus (cmv). a complete randomized experimental design with five treatments and eight replications was established under greenhouse conditions: bacillus subtilis applied to soil, b. subtilis applied to leaves, b. subtilis applied to soil and leaves, acetyl salicylic acid applied to leaves, and a control (without any treatment). twenty days-old plants were mechanically inoculated with cucumber mosaic virus (cmv) and 15 days after the inoculation, fresh plant tissue weights, and viral concentration obtained by das-elisa test, were evaluated. results showed that plants inoculated with b. subtilis applied to soil and those treated with acetyl salicylic acid had significantly more fresh plant tissue weight compared with control (p≤0.05). plants of all treatments treated with b. subtilis (to soil, leaves and to soil and leaves) had a significant lower viral concentration compared with control (p≤0.05) in the das- elisa test.

Maldonado, Martin;Portela, Luiz Osório Cruz;
Jornal Brasileiro de Pneumologia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1806-37132011000600003
Abstract: objective: to analyze adolescents clinically diagnosed with asthma, in terms of the physiological changes occurring during acute hypoxia and during a maximal stress test. methods: this was a descriptive, cross-sectional study involving 48 adolescents (12-14 years of age) who were divided into three groups: mild intermittent asthma (mia, n = 12); mild persistent asthma (mpa, n = 12); and control (n = 24). all subjects were induced to acute hypoxia and were submitted to maximal stress testing. anthropometric data were collected, and functional variables were assessed before and after the maximal stress test. during acute hypoxia, the time to a decrease in spo2 and the time to recovery of spo2 (at rest) were determined. results: no significant differences were found among the groups regarding the anthropometric variables or regarding the ventilatory variables during the stress test. significant differences were found in oxygen half-saturation pressure of hemoglobin prior to the test and in pao2 prior to the test between the mpa and control groups (p = 0.0279 and p = 0.0116, respectively), as was in the oxygen extraction tension prior to the test between the mia and mpa groups (p = 0.0419). there were no significant differences in terms of the spo2 times under any of the conditions studied. oxygen consumption and respiratory efficiency were similar among the groups. the use of a bronchodilator provided no significant benefit during the hypoxia test. no correlations were found between the hypoxia test results and the physiological variables. conclusions: our findings suggest that adolescents with mild persistent asthma have a greater capacity to adapt to hypoxia than do those with other types of asthma.

World Journal of Neuroscience (WJNS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/wjns.2016.62016
Abstract: Objective: We describe a patient diagnosed with acute neuroborreliosis presenting with anterior optic neuritis (papillitis) in a non-endemic region. Case Presentation: A 43-year-old previously healthy right handed man admitted due to an insidious onset of severe headache and spells of ascending paresthesias from his right foot into his right arm and face followed by speech arrest and clumsiness of his right hand. His neurologic exam was significant for somnolence, nuchal rigidity and Kernig and Brudzinski signs were present. MRI of the brain with gadolinium showed diffuse hyperintense signal involving the supra and infratentorial cortical sulci, with associated faint diffuse leptomeningeal enhancement, consistent most likely with diffuse leptomeningoencephalitis. EEG: normal. CSF VDRL was negative. Dilated fundus exam revealed mild optic nerve edema more significant to the left than to the right eye, confirmed and measured by spectral domain OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography). There was an evidence of posterior uveitis with an early vitreous hemorrhage superficial to the left optic nerve. Lyme disease serum antibody (IgM) Immunoblotting was positive in 2 bands confirming the diagnosis of neuroborreliosis. Conclusion: Optic nerve involvement in Lyme disease is an uncommon complication that should be confirmed by specific diagnostic criteria to establish its causal relation.

E-balonmano.com : Revista de Ciencias del Deporte , 2011,
Abstract: The present work chases as aim to analyze the sport as generating process of identity and see what role is about those who practice or who continue. It is an ethnographic study is analyzed from the perspective of anthropology and try to see how the handball, so connected to Leon from conception, provided to serve as an ideal mechanism to convey and reflect the values of the system to which it belongs. Or rather, that many of the features, conscience and Leon characters find their expression in the sports Ademar club and are related to certain identification with regard to theories, narratives and behavior of their followers. The results confirm an identity that faithfully reproduces Leon, built by an intense degree of membership of the group and bringing a real image of what we were. Key Words: Sport, Handball, identity.

Open Journal of Thoracic Surgery (OJTS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojts.2013.32008
Abstract:

Objective: To assess preoperative and postoperative spirometry values in patients undergoing lobectomy for sequelae of pulmonary tuberculosis. Method: A total of 20 patients (10 males) with history of treatment for tuberculosis and presenting with symptomatic sequelae (repeat infection or hemoptysis) who sought assistance at the chest surgery outpatient clinic between 11.09.07 and 04.02.10, were selected for the study. Only patients that met theeligibility criteria (symptomatic, submitted to tuberculosis treatment) were included in the study. The age of patients ranged from 15 to 56 years (mean: 35.75 years). The average treatment time for tuberculosis was 6 months and onset of symptoms occurred between 01 and 32 years after treatment. To assess the impact of surgery on the variables VC, FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, FEF and PEF preoperative values were compared with postoperative values at 1st, 3rd, 6th and 12th month using the paired t test. The level of significance (α) applied for all tests was 5% where a value of p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: 11 patients were treated because of recurrent infections and 9 because of haemoptysis. The most common lobectomy was right upper lobectomy (7 patients), followed by left upper lobectomy (6 patients), left lower lobectomy (6 patients), and right middle lobectomy (1 patient). There were no postoperative complications. There was no postoperative mortality. Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it can be concluded that, at the 12th postoperative month, spirometric parameters of patients with tuberculosis sequelae submitted to lobectomy had returned to preoperative levels.

Recursos intangibles en el desempe?o de la industria de maquinados de México
Maldonado,Juan Regino; Vera-Cruz,Alexandre O;
Revista Venezolana de Gerencia , 2009,
Abstract: based on a resource-based theory,the objective of this study is to analyze differences in the performance of the sames belonging to the machining industry in mexico. certain intangible resources were identified,such as culture,knowledge,innovation and links of cooperation among the sames,analyzing their influence on performance. the study is based on the supposition that the performance differences are attributable to the heterogeneity of the sames endowment,associated with the company.s strategy,in which advantages of the industrial structure are considered. the research was designed with criteria of a transversal-type study. surveys were given to 283 owners and directors of sames in 2005 and 2006,of which 179 corresponded to companies in querétaro and 104 to juarez. based on multiple regression analysis,the study concluded that the companies in juarez have a performance superior to those in querétaro,achieving the development of a cultural and functional capacity. performance differences are attributed to heterogeneity in the intangible resources and the capacities of the company.
