LA VIOLENCIA COMO PROBLEMA DE SALUD PúBLICA EN COLOMBIA: OTRO CAMPO PARA LA BIOéTICA
Rivas M,Favio;
Acta bioethica , 2000, DOI: 10.4067/S1726-569X2000000200011
Abstract: violence is still on the increase even though the world is no longer divided. with the fall of the berlin wall most of us were expecting the end of wars, something that never happened. on the other hand, internal conflicts in the third world have become more and more frequent. today, homicide is the first cause of death in colombia, being men aged from 15 to 44 the principal victims. violence is the major public health problem in colombia nowadays. it is impossible to understand this issue from a unique point of view. to address this problem, as it occurs with bioethics, inter-disciplinary actions must be taken. it is a phenomenon related to distributive justice and the autonomy of men and nation's, in a context where the intention to inflict harm (maleficence) prevails. there exist, therefore, an enormous domain for bioethics, especially for those of us who deem necessary to remove it from its clinical atmosphere in order to collaborate in the searching for solutions to the urgent problems this side of the world is facing
Insulin analogues have been used in the treatment of diabetes in pregnancy and some of them off-label. To know the efficacy and safety of insulin analogues concerning mother and fetus, a literature review on the subject was carried out. Regarding Glulisine, there are no reports on its use on gestation. On Lispro, there are few randomized studies comparing its use to regular human insulin, however, there are several observational studies, mostly retrospective, that do not reveal an increased risk. On Aspart, research has been done on women with type 1 diabetes during pregnancy with a randomized controlled clinical trial comparing it to regular human insulin; its results were used as a basis for its approval in pregnant women. On Glargine, observational studies have been carried out, but none were randomized controlled. On Detemir, a randomized controlled trial that ended in 2011 was carried out, comparing it to NPH human insulin; its results supporte
Semi-classical Scar functions in phase space
Alejandro M. F. Rivas
Physics , 2006, DOI: 10.1088/1751-8113/40/36/006
Abstract: We develop a semi-classical approximation for the scar function in the Weyl-Wigner representation in the neighborhood of a classically unstable periodic orbit of chaotic two dimensional systems. The prediction of hyperbolic fringes, asymptotic to the stable and unstable manifolds, is verified computationally for a (linear) cat map, after the theory is adapted to a discrete phase space appropriate to a quantized torus. Characteristic fringe patterns can be distinguished even for quasi-energies where the fixed point is not Bohr-quantized. Also the patterns are highly localized in the neighborhood of the periodic orbit and along its stable and unstable manifolds without any long distance patterns that appears for the case of the spectral Wigner function.
Semiclassical Coherent States propagator
Alejandro M. F Rivas
Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.88.012104
Abstract: In this work, we derived a semiclassical approximation for the matrix elements of a quantum propagator in coherent states (CS) basis that avoids complex trajectories, it only involves real ones. For that propose, we used the, symplectically invariant, semiclassical Weyl propagator obtained by performing a stationary phase approximation (SPA) for the path integral in the Weyl representation. After what, for the transformation to CS representation SPA is avoided, instead a quadratic expansion of the complex exponent is used. This procedure also allows to express the semiclassical CS propagator uniquely in terms of the classical evolution of the initial point, without the need of any root search typical of Van Vleck Gutzwiller based propagators. For the case of chaotic Hamiltonian systems, the explicit time dependence of the CS propagator has been obtained. The comparison with a \textquotedbl{}realistic\textquotedbl{} chaotic system that derives from a quadratic Hamiltonian, the cat map, reveals that the expression here derived is exact up to quadratic Hamiltonian systems.
Semiclassical matrix elements for a chaotic propagator in the Scar functions basis
Alejandro M. F Rivas
Mathematics , 2013, DOI: 10.1088/1751-8113/46/14/145101
Abstract: A semiclassical approximation for the matrix elements of a quantum chaotic propagator in the scar function basis has been derived. The obtained expression is solely expressed in terms of canonical invariant objects. For our purpose, we have used, the recently developed, semiclassical matrix elements of the propagator in coherent states, together with the linearization of the flux in the neighborhood of a classically unstable periodic orbit of chaotic two dimensional systems. The expression here derived is successfully verified to be exact for a (linear) cat map, after the theory is adapted to a discrete phase space appropriate to a quantized torus.

Mónica Rivero-Garvía, Javier Márquez-Rivas, Eloy Rivas, Ana Belén Rueda-Torres
Open Journal of Pediatrics (OJPed) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojped.2012.23041
Abstract: Introduction: teratomas are non-malignantgerm cell tumors commonly composed of cell types derived from all of the three germ layers. Intracerebral teratomas typically are midline or paraxial lesions located in the pituitary stalk or the pineal region. We report our experience with mature teratomas of the posterior fossa. Case report: we present the case of an 11-year-old caucasian female with progressive headache that caused interrupted sleep. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging showed a midline lesion in the posterior fossa with mass effect and without contrast enhancement. Anatomic pathology revealed a mature teratoma. Conclusion: differential diagnosis of midline lesions in pediatric patients must include teratomas in spite of being posterior fossa lesions.

Abstract: neptuno-inia is an alternative oat cultivar obtained from a cross between nehuén-inia and urano-inia oat cultivars carried out in 1989 at the carillanca regional research center, national agricultural research institute, located in temuco, chile. neptuno-inia has been included in yield trials since 1996. it has a good yield (7.01 t ha-1), and especially good industrial (4.93 t ha-1) and milling (1.42) yields, as well as a high protein content (12.87%) and groat percentage (70.5%). furthermore, this cultivar is resistant to powdery mildew (erysiphe graminis dc. f. sp. avenae em. marchal (erysiphe graminis dc. f. sp. avenae em. marchal).
Una relectura de la idea de progreso a partir de la ética del discurso
Rivas García, Ricardo M.;
Andamios , 2008,
Abstract: this paper considers the criticisms made of the modern idea of progress which provoked negative consequences in history while it was equated with instrumental reason. this situation permitted those critics of reason to declare "the end of history". however, this paper aims to review the former considering the ethics of discourse as a conceptual framework, as in apel and habermas, who aimed to address and revalue the emancipatory potential of reason and hold a perspective of sense for history.
Internationalization of Peruvian cuisine: An analysis of internationalization strategies of Peruvian restaurants
Rivas,Ronald M; Mayorga,David;
Innovar , 2011,
Abstract: we study the multinationalizationa?"the decision to establish foreign direct investment (fdi)a?"of peruvian restaurants. despite a long exporting tradition, many peruvian firms have only recently become multinational enterprises (mnes). the analysis of eighty-two cases of peruvian restaurants fdi in the americas, europe and asia, reveals several findings. first, it confirms the received view that multilatinas take a long time to become mnes, and they become mnes after changes in the home country that follow structural reform induce them to upgrade their competitiveness to international levels. however, unlike previous studies, we found that peruvian restaurants expand to countries with proximate as well as with distant psychic distance. these findings are at odds with the gradual internationalization model and the eclectic paradigm. second, this study found support for the institutional proposition of internationalization, that is, institutional pro-market reforms benefit domestic firms over foreign mnes, which facilitate domestic firms' multinationalization. peru has seen a significant economic recovery during the last decade, which just recently has created opportunities for the emergence of peruvian multilatinas. third, this study found support for the rbv proposition of multinationalization namely, that unique business level strategies have different multinationalization processes.
Symmetric Boolean Algebras
R. Díaz and M. Rivas
ACTA MATHEMATICA UNIVERSITATIS COMENIANAE , 2010,
Abstract: In order to study Boolean algebras in the category of vector spaces we introduce a prop whose algebras in set are Boolean algebras. A probabilistic logical interpretation for linear Boolean algebras is provided. An advantage of defining Boolean algebras in the linear category is that we are able to study its symmetric powers. We give explicit formulae for products in symmetric and cyclic Boolean algebras of various dimensions and formulate symmetric forms of the inclusion-exclusion principle.
