Biodegradable Guar Gum Nanoparticles as Carrier for Tamoxifen Citrate in Treatment of Breast Cancer  [PDF]

Abstract: We prepared, characterized and studied the biodistribution of tamoxifen citrate (TMX) loaded cross-linked guar gum (GG) nanoparticles (NPs). NPs were prepared via a single step emulsion process and particle size evaluated. The extent of tissue distribution and retention following oral administration of TMX loaded GG NPs and TMX tablet in female albino mice was analyzed over a period of 48 hours. Till 48 hours, the particles remained detectable in both mammary and ovary tissue (estrogen receptors). Uptake and retention of TMX from NPs and tablet in mammary gland and ovary tissue changed with time. Results showed that the uptake and retention of NPs was more in the mammary gland between 24 - 48 hours (11.2% at 24 h; 4.65% at 48 h). As mammary gland is the target organ in breast cancer therapy, it may be concluded that the cross-linked GG NPs are capable of releasing the drug at the target and minimize the uptake and retention in non target tissue, the ovary (7.98% at 24 h; 1.9% at 48 h). Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) with time were measured. No abnormal changes in the liver enzymes were observed. GG NPs under study can be used as a drug carrier system for treating cancer.

Abstract: The present investigation was aimed to study the antiproliferative action of Tamoxifen citrate (TMX), a non steroidal antiestrogen, on a human T-cell leukemia cell line, Jurkat, as free drug and TMX loaded guar gum nanoparticles. For this we developed a new formulation containing chemically cross-linked guar gum nanoparticles (GG NPs) loaded with Tamoxifen citrate (TMX). Single step (oil in water) emulsion and in-situ polymer crosslinking technique was employed to prepare spherical and smooth surfaced nanoparticles in the size range of 200-300nm. Nanoparticle size and shape was confirmed from observation in transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. Cytotoxicity on Jurkat (human T-cell leukemia) cell lines as determined by cell growth inhibition after 48 hrs of incubation indicated that Tamoxifen citrate loaded guar gum nanoparticles were as efficient as the free drug when applied to the cancer cells. However, the crosslinked guar gum nanoparticles loaded with Tamoxifen citrate exhibited sustained release of the drug and delayed apoptosis over a long period of time making it suitable for cancer treatment.

Abstract: PSTAand BCE as an exchange has all the potential to be a major international marketplace for pepper and castor oil as it is the only exchange in the world engaged in trading of derivative, exclusively in pepper and castor oil. However both the international exchanges in the Indian commodity derivative market were not been able to globalize properly as they were unable to attract adequate number of overseas traders or even the existing domestic players. The comparison of market parameters like trading systems, processes and procedures of IPSTA and BCE with the US system are no inferior. When markets are deep, business rules and processes are fair and transparent along with an appropriate regulation the demarcation between a domestic and an international exchange will cease to exist.

Abstract: There was a noticeable increase in the volatility of the market after 1990s which may be attributed to a number of factors; among them due to the free economic policies exchange rate fluctuations, facing huge competitions from overseas players, supply increases compare to demand. As a result the market strategy has shifted from the seller market to the buyer market. The study tries to find out how Assam tea has to remain competitive instead of cutting down wages of labourer and meet the competition by either market creation or market matching rather than follow the traditional production oriented. The Assam tea industry has to move with a visionary transformation in their approach and have to introduce the integration of small estates and cooperatives, otherwise the crisis will deepen and the decline in tea industry conditions will definitely have ramification in the State's economy
Effect of Tev scale new physics on the cross-section for the process e^+ e^- --> h γ

Abstract: Tev scale new heavy physics could significantly affect the cross-section for the rare process $e^+e^-\to H\gm $ through non-renormalizable operators involving the light SM fields. In this article we show that for $\sqs =500$ Gev and $\lam =1$ Tev some of these operators, which are only weakly constrained by the latest LEP and SLD data, could produce an observable number of events for $m_H$ lying in the range 200-500 Gev. Whereas for $\lam =5$ Tev although no event with $m_H\le 250$ Gev is likely to be seen, for moderately heavy higgs bosons with $m_H$ lying in the range (400-500) Gev the production rate will be large enough to be detectable.
Effect of contact ineractions on higgs production cross-section at an $e^+e^-\to HZ$ collider

Abstract: New interactions appearing at a scale $\Lambda$ larger than the weak interaction scale v can affect physical processes at energies below $\Lambda$ through non-renormalizable $SU(3)\times SU(2)\times U(1)_y$ invariant operators added to the standard model Lagrangian. In this article we investigate the effect of flavor conserving contact interactions on the total cross-section for the process $e^+e^-\to HZ$ at $\sqs =500$ Gev. We find that for $\Lambda\approx 2.5 $ Tev, which is consistent with LEP and SLD asymmetry measurements on Z peak as well as theoretical estimates, these operators can increase the total cross-section by a factor of 3 relative to the SM for intermediate mass higgs boson.
Resolution of the $\rb -\als$ crisis of the SM in an exotic ETC scenario

Abstract: In this article we show that the $\rb -\als $ crisis of the SM can be resolved in a commuting TC scenario with sideways gauge bosons only if the ETC representation contains mirror technifermions. For a toy ETC model we estimate the value of $\xi^2_t={\gel/ \guer}$ that is needed to produce the observed LEP excess in $\rb$. It is also shown that the same value of $\xi^2_t$ resolvs the $\als$ crisis of the SM but produces a $\delta \rho_{new}$ which is barely within the present experimental bound.
Non-commuting ETC corrections to zt\bar{t} vertex

Abstract: In this paper we calculate the corrections to zt\bar {t} couplings induced by non-commuting ETC interactions. The extra parameters \delgbl, s^2 and {1\over x} of non-commuting ETC models and the usual SM parameters will be be assumed to be determined from a global fit to the LEP 1 EW data. We find that in the heavy (light) case F^t_L is modified by at most 4% (2.8%) relative to its SM value provided \delrb < .0088. This implies that it will be very difficult to disentangle the ETC corrections from SM corrections to zt\bar {t} vertex or to probe the effects of non-commuting ETC on zt\bar {t} couplings with the projected NLC precision of measuring them.
Dipole moments of tau as a sensitive probe for beyond standard model physics

Abstract: CP violating dipole moments of leptons vanish at least to three loop order and are estimated to be $({m_l\over Mev})\times 1.6\times 10^{- 40}$ e-cm in the standard model (SM), where $m_l$ is the mass of the lepton. However they can receive potentially large contributions in some beyond SM scenarios and this makes them very sensitive probes of new physics. In this article we show that a non universal interaction, involving leptoquarks to the quark-lepton pair of the third generation through helicity unsuppressed couplings of the order of ordinary gauge couplings, can generate electric and weak dipole moments of the order of $10^{-19}$ e-cm for the tau lepton. This is greater than pure supersymmetric (SUSY) and left-right (L-R) contributions by almost three orders of magnitude. It is also greater than mirror fermionic contribution by an order of magnitude. The measurements of $\dzt$ and $\dgt$ at LEP, SLC and TCF are expected to reach sensitivities of $10^{-18}$ e-cm and $10^{-19}$ e-cm respectively in near future. The observation of a non vanishing dipole moment of tau at these facilities would therefore strongly favour superstring inspired light leptoquark mediated interactions, over pure SUSY or L-R interactions and perhaps also mirror generated mixings without some sort of quark-lepton unification as its origin.
Implications of m_t and R_b on zt\bar{t} couplings in standard ETC models

Abstract: In standard ETC models the sideways and diagonal ETC interactions contribute to $\delta R_b$ with opposite signs. The aim of this article is to study the implications of the CDF value for m_t and the LEP value for R_b on $zt\bar{t}$ couplings where the LH sideways and diagonal ETC effects interfere constructively. We find that for m_t=175 Gev, $\delta R_b =.0022$ and m^2_s=m^2_d, F^t_v and F^t_a are modified by 19% and 7% respectively from their SM values. The constrains implied by these deviations on diagonal ETC scenarios and the feasibility of probing them at NLC through polarization and angular distribution studies in $e^+e^- \to t\bar{t}$ are also considered.
